Bravely Second’s New Character Is A Devil Buster From The Moon

By Spencer . December 8, 2013 . 11:11pm

bravesec-01 While North America is still waiting for Bravely Default, Square Enix is developing a sequel called Bravely Second. This story takes place in Luxendarc (the same location as Bravely Default) several years after the Warriors of Light saved the world.

Magnolia Arch, a “Devil Buster” that came from the moon, is one of the new characters in Bravely Second and she bears the weight of being the last of her kind after a Demon Lord unexpectedly appeared. She has a daredevil personality.

Magnolia is described to be sociable, yet eccentric. Pragmatic, but a romanticist and dainty, but lively. Basically her elegant look is contrary to her actual character. She is skilled and at some point rescued Tiz Arrior, one of the four heroes in Bravely Default.

Bravely Second is in development for Nintendo 3DS. Square Enix will show a trailer for the game at Jump Festa.

I’m liking how this sounds. I am eagerly awating Bravely Default here in NA, and hopefully its success means we’ll be seeing Bravely Second before long.

  • Suicunesol

Bravely Second website, kiddos. And make sure to turn up that volume. *chime*

  • MrSirFeatherFang

They saved the world? Who would’ve thought…

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

Fang, saves the world with your androgynous powers

  • Dianatos

If she’s a Devil Buster, doesn’t she need a COMP?

    • AuraGuyChris

      No, she needs a GUMP.

  • Rogerrmark

If she saved Tiz,the story is not much after? Like milleniuns or centuries.

    I hope they don’t reuse locations/monsters/assets overall.

    • Samsara09

it is a sequel. There WILL be some reusing, especially if second is just a year or two after the original.Even if it were 500 years after…well, can’t say if it would be that different.

  • Pockystix

I wonder if this means the party limit will be buffed up to 5 characters in battle. . .

I’ve always wondered why FF games felt 3-party limits were such a great idea post-FFVII. Limiting options hurts the freedom to build an interesting party, imo.

    • or they will give you a cast of new characters? I dun want to play as the same chars from the first game if possible.

    • Suicunesol

They probably did it because graphics, and maybe because since combat moves more slowly, having four characters take their turn would take too long.

      • Pockystix

A problem that has been eliminated thanks to the battle-speed-up feature.

sooooo yeah. . . get on it guys. Gimme big teams of units to squash big groups of enemies!

  • Arcana Wiz

More important… she is a devil buster with dat legs…..

    • Bigabu Beaze

She can bust my devil anytime.

    • Samsara09

Saw the pic…well, her thighs are somewhat bigger than Agnès.Tiz,you lucky prick!

  • Hah. I really like the sound of her, and the in-game model is terribly cute.

  • Zebliin

Im just glad that this is an actual sequel set in the same world with Tiz (and hopefully the others in it) rather than a completely different game like square enix have always done with FF. Like her design though

  • alfare

Aaaah. US Edition. Please come out soon.

(I still need to get a 3DS though.)

  • I think I’m gonna love this girl XD

  • Samsara09

basically she is an Edea mixed with a Ringabel plus with some extra ingredients, lol. Not that I mind, for something quite interesting can come out of this.

    • Thatguy

You mean, love child of Edea and Ringabel? :D
      …And who else? D:

    • Armane

She reminds me of the White Mage you get the asterisk from.

  • XypherCode

“…several years after the Warriors of Light saved the world.”

    • neocatzon

Wait, are these Warriors of Light from FF: The 4 Heroes of Light?

      • 하세요

FF 1, 3, and 5 (as well as CC and Heroes of Light) all use the term “Warriors of Light,” so it’s still pretty vague. BD also uses four heroes, right? Maybe it just means the first game’s ending which is obviously the good guys winning. Not much of a spoiler there.

      • XypherCode

No not really. SE seems to like having original names/terms cross-over to their other games.

        • neocatzon

and I thought there’s an interesting connection between those games..

          • XypherCode

Well…I’m not really sure how the “Warriors of Light” plays out in Bravely Default so I can’t really compare them to the original heroes of light. Just gonna have to play it when Feb comes…in NA at least :)

  • James Enk

in a few day i will have the original in my hands and after i finish is i will patiently wait for the sequel

  • Hope this gets localized as well ^^

  • D-Omen

Loving the first game, already sold on this. :D

  • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

The new character looks great and all…but man…that’s some high heels right there. How does she get around wearing them?

  • Kornelious

So, Bravely Second has a new party. I kinda thought it would be a three part adventure.

  • Neophoton

Way to spoil the ending for BD, Siliconera. :p

  • TIL they save the world at the end of Bravely Default. Now I don’t have to play it! (Scratches game off to-play list.)

    • Slayven19

Welp guess I can save my money for something I don’t know the ending too. Unless of course they spoil that ending as well ;).

P:S I’m just joking guys, this is barely a spoiler and its not like you haven’t done this before.

  • Judgephoenix

I hope they continue The Bravely series for years to come. Maybe SE is not saying it but maybe the point of changing the FF series to something different was to allow this to replace it. While keeping the FF name they could kind of keep the fanbase. Either way seems like they are kind back on track :)

  • chroma816

Goddamn it, Squeenix. That’s a horrible pun and I love it.

  • Happy Gamer

    Boy I love legs…
