Rock Out To Japanese History With Bakumatsu Rock

By Spencer . December 10, 2013 . 12:19am

Grand Knights History developer Marvelous AQL is still developing PSP games and Bakumatsu Rock may be their most out there game yet. This is a music game fused with a visual novel adventure set during the same period as Yakuza: Restoration. Instead of beating up the Shinsengumi, you play as Sakamoto Ryoma (who Kazuma Kiryu is in Yakuza) fight back with rock music. Why? Because that stops the Shinsengumi from brainwashing people with Heaven’s Song.

Bakumatsu Rock comes out on February 22, 2014 for PSP.

Wouldn’t Vanillaware be adcredited as the developers for GKH instead?

Marvelous really for the most part internally developed Harvest Moon games

Publishing isn’t the same as developing…

The moment I read “Grand Knights History developer” in the header, I got excited for a second expecting a new Vanillaware game.

I hope this can be corrected.

      • Jeremy Sumrak

Yes, please…correct this. Vanillaware is an absolute genius collection of artists under the banner of George Kamitani (emphasis on the “Kami”)…they deserve to be rightly credited with every game they’ve worked on…which aren’t many!

the plot idea is outstanding. Too bad for me it’s a rhythm game…

  • Wappuli

Character desings are pretty cool and the gameplay too looks nice enough.
I think I’m going to get this.

  • Aristides

    0-0 this game looks friggin awesome! Why oh why is it coming out so late in the PSPs life cycle. I wish we could have seen it in the west ;_;

    • InfectedAI

Even at the high of the console’s life cycle I’m not sure this would’ve been localized.

  • PotatoPower

    macross 7 much? lol

  • harmonyworld

    I love the character design!

  • urbanscholar

Interesting concept, throughout the trailer I was wondering ok where’s that wacky hook…then I say shirtless dudes…haha
