By Spencer . December 12, 2013 . 1:47am

If you have a PlayStation Network account registered in Japan you can try Soul Sacrifice Delta right now. There’s a downloadable demo on Japan’s PlayStation Store that lets players fight two monsters from the Grimm side, Snow White and Red Riding Hood.

The Soul Sacrifice Delta demo has ad-hoc and infrastructure multiplayer so you can team up with friends nearby or online. You can grab the 1680 MB demo here.

Revisionist fairy tales in games are a major weakness of mine. When is this coming to America?!

To save those the trouble (and the time) from switching to their JPN PSN account, or for those who don’t want to bother but would like some feedback about the demo:

    > improved visuals (slightly —- but the new facial selections are SWEEET!)
    > you can now choose your appearance for your headgear, upper clothes, and lower clothes separately

    > improved AI (so far so good; but it’s still just a demo with only
3-stars as the highest difficulty for now. And they summon Golems.)
    > melee spells feel a bit stronger now

    > an extra area when bosses are starting to feel really threatened kinda makes it comfortable fighting them — well, the extra area doubles the map, after all.

    > only 3 quests

    > spells you get from quest rewards ARE NOT USEABLE (they don’t appear in your spell inventory)

    > no spell combination or upgrades
    > no need to farm for sigils (you’ll instantly get them sigils)
    > You start at a total Level of 20 — I’m not sure until how much level you can get since I didn’t grind because it was meaningless

    > compared to the Harpy and Cereberus in the first game’s demo, Snow
White (with 7 dwarfs looking like Minions) and Red Riding Hood (I’m not sure if it’s really her at all — after seeing her human form) were very easy to beat

    IMHO, the first one’s
demo had far more…. well, replayability. At least you can combine and upgrade
spells and collect essences for sigils in the first game’s demo. In SS Delta’s demo you INSTANTLY
GET ALL THE SIGILS available you can get in the demo. So there’s no use
    grinding .__.
Then again, this is just a demo. They probably want to offer less compared to the first one to convince people to buy it by making them want more from it — yeah, I know a lot of people who even spent like 60-90 hours in the first game’s demo alone.

Aside from the new elements, I’d say the game looks pretty sweet overall. However, it still feels like the old game + added spells and bosses + 2 new black rites + extra map transition.

i am treat delta like a pc expansion pack which it basically is since you can use your ss save data and everything.

      • ekibyougami

The same can be said with Ragnarok Odyssey ACE then since you also use your save data from Ragnarok Odyssey and retain most of your cards but your story progress and equipments will still go back to zero ._.

However, it’s technically not an expansion pack but a new game (considering you’ll pay around the same price for it) — Inafune said so himself.

Is the difference between Soul Sacrifice and Soul Sacrifice Delta the same as the difference between Monster Hunter Freedom and Monster Hunter Freedom 2 or MHF2 and MHFUnite?

          • ekibyougami

I can’t really tell yet. In fact, no one can at the moment. The story quests might get a revision just like in the case in Ragnarok Odyssey ACE. But considering G-versions of Monster Hunter games are more like expansion packs made into a new separate game, this is PROBABLY to be the case with SS Delta.
