Plant Mario’s Red Mushrooms And Fire Flowers In The New Harvest Moon

By Eugene . December 19, 2013 . 12:02pm

There’s a lot you can do on the farming side of things in Harvest Moon: Connect to a New World—despite the past few news posts focusing on marriage, characters and angora rabbits.

As part of the game’s farming element, Mario’s plants are making their way into Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land in a collaboration. As part of the deal, players will be able to harvest the ubiquitous Red Mushroom, Fire Flowers as well as Stars from their fields, though how you’ll fulfill the “special conditions” to obtain them aren’t known yet.

Harvest Moon: Connect to a New Land will be out February 27th 2014 in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS.

  • This collaboration is fabulous. Collabulous. I love it.

  • Epic Markell Joshua

I like seeing more collabs keep it going nintendo.

So… does that mean we get effects too? I’m sure my wife/husband would be more impressed if I could shoot fire balls. :>

  • I love it!

  • Ispheria

Am I the only one that doesn’t like this collaboration? I mean, it would be cool if it was in Rune Factory or something, so the plants would actually do something, but in Harvest Moon, you just sell the plants. They might as well be growing avocados or something.
idk, it just seems really gimmicky and it makes this new Harvest Moon feel tainted sort of. like, not pure

    • Indeed, what’s the practical use of having these items in a Harvest Moon title?

      • Tylor Boreas Makimoto

Clear large plots of land by throwing fire, and increasing the seed scatter when you eat a mushroom? I don’t know, maybe something like that.

        • And the Star? No fear of ever being tired/fatigued for a day?

          • PreyMantis

You’ll be invincible for a short period of time. Imagine a bloke takin’ your girl and you took out one of these babies, you can kill him just by touching him. Be careful, though, if you touch your girl while still having the effect of the star, you’ll also kill your girl. Hope that helps. XP

          • Servant BerserCAR

No need to be afraid with storms or blizzards anymore.

    • Namuro

If you watch the Japanese Nintendo Direct (which shows a lot more games), you’ll see that the special crops have certain uses. The Fire Flower, for one, can be used to clear a plot quickly. Pretty useful, I say.

Also, I think that adding Nintendo stuff in games like this is a pretty nice touch, it certainly doesn’t look out of place to me. Even games like Monster Hunter have loads of Mario stuff in it, and the fans (at least in Japan…) love it!

Unless Nintendo try to add stuff into games like, let’s say, Batman or Assassin’s Creed, I think it’s fine to see these iconic easter eggs popping up every now and then, even if they don’t serve a real purpose.

The new harvest moon launch, especially when you have to plant Mario’s red mushrooms and fire flowers, surely must be a good enough temptation to play this game.

Now we can finally burn the villager we dont like (^_^)
