It’s The Cute Ones That Always Trap You In Deception IV: Blood Ties

By Eugene . December 30, 2013 . 3:00pm

Deception IV: Blood Ties is all about figuring out how to make use of traps. And while yes, main character Regrina could totally be a trap, we’re referring to the other kind of trap. The sort where a banana skin slip trips you into a swinging pendulum that smashes you into a convenient iron maiden. Ouch.

The latest three trailers show off some of the ways players can get their trap combinations going in either Brutality, Magnificence or Humiliation methods. Each will likely please the three Mediums who serve by Regrina’s side differently.

Planning for your trap combos wil also be necessary so it seems to generate extra points and help break foes out of their armor. It’s also nice to see that environmental effects and timing will require a keen eye for choosing when exactly to spring that most devious of tripwire activations on foes, as it seems it will be possible to make use of environmental effects to add additional damage sorts. Miss, and you’ll also miss out on the chance for that extra piece of damage.

The game looks like it can be pretty dark, with implements such as that head-grabbing metal spinner and the Wolverine-claws encasing the armored man, but perhaps hopes to bank on some of the softer traps such as the pumpkin head, banana skin and birthday cake to soften the blows.

Deception IV: Blood Ties is set for a February 27th release on both PlayStation 3 and Vita in 2014. Tecmo Koei has also said it will release a localized version of the game in the West as well.

More like Queen’s Blade/Ikki Tousen/Highschool DxD/Highschool Of The Dead armor logic. If you want to dress like a stripper for a massive and dangerous battle then go for it but it’s bloody retarded.

          • Kai2591

            Bloody retarded indeed.

All for the sake of fanservice.
I prefer beautiful yet functional armor.

  • Richard N

How considerate of the creators to gives us such a pleasing sight as we’re in control of Regrina. I’m not sure if I’d be able to even focus on traps at that point.

  • Prinnydoom

Man if i was actually in this game world i would not be able to keep a straight face knowing that my enemies would unwittingly walk right into a bunch of hilarious traps. They’d constantly ask why I am laughing.

  • Demeanor

Wow, pretty rare to see such cruelty in a game, this looks interesting. Of course, half naked demi-succubi and destroyable armor are always a welcome addition. XD Seems a bit unfair to the foes tho, you seem to have all the time in the world to conveniently place traps just before you get charged, wouldn’t the game get boring fast?

    • Lucky Dan

T-K knows their audience well with the destroying armor mechanic

      • CH3N9

        destroying armor mechanic : Cool
armor stripping mechanic: Erotically Awesome xD

… no, I don’t think so. however it depend how a person play the game.

        • Lucky Dan

They’re aiming for the Dead or alive 5 market.

The wooden horse was a bit much that’s suppose to be reserve for the H-games and fanart I hope they get away with it and allow it to be used in Western market :3

    • AkuLord3

Not really and like the other games it adds challenge like more opponents and such. Especially since you need to successful get some enemies with traps you have (which you unlock later ones…this game will probably have the same).
And traps have their own cool downs and such, so you can’t go crazy as you want, its all about tricking and mastering your tools

  • Learii

this seen hard to set he right traps the right time to active it

    • Lucky Dan

Make sure you play Trapt on the PS2/3 which is Kagero Deception 3 in the West. It’s on PSN right now.

  • I’m surprised how resilient these enemies are! Usually when I get sliced into twenty pieces, I just collapse in a pile of blood and gore.

“And while yes, main character Regrina could totally be a trap”

Wait, whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? But that body… >_>
