By Spencer . December 30, 2013 . 10:04pm

diablo2adDiablo III  is one of the few third party Western RPGs localized by Square Enix. A deal struck between Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia, Square Enix, and Activision Blizzard to bring the PlayStation 3 version to Japan. If you’re curious what the game feels like in Japanese you can grab a demo, which was released on December 26.

The 1,578MB demo contains the first chapter of Diablo III fully localized with Japanese text and voiceovers. Players will be able to use the Barbarian and Wizard classes.

Diablo III will be available in Japan as a PS3 exclusive on January 30, 2014.

Just this evening, I completed my first run of Dragon’s Crown. Having just finished my second run of Diablo III on PC, it was this odd yet easy transition back and forth because they are so similar in structure and focus. I think Diablo III has a good chance of success in Japan. If PCs were the problem before, this really solid console version should solve it. At least, I hope so.

  • Am I the only one who thought the title meant that Square would be developing their own Diablo clone? Because I was kind of excited for a second.

      It’s exactly what I thought. :(

Another Dungeon Siege would be great. I really liked DSIII, but if they ever want to make a serious contender to Diablo they would need to improve the game by a lot.

I first thought Dungeon Siege 4

    • Jason Ryer

They did it failed. hero of ruins. The controls are too firm and hard to work with for a loot rpg like diablo.

      • Tanthalas

I’m not sure if the problem were the controls or the 3DS itself.

Personally, I really don’t like the feel of the buttons on the 3DS (or the 2DS before it honestly).

        • Jason Ryer

The hardwares great it be the same on the vita. What i mean is the buttons are mapped weird which can affect it some. Theres several good dungeon crawlers that work well for DS.

Overall the online is forced and the quests and loot drops were dull as well.

This game is not a square enix made game but more a square published game.

I always fascinated with the great quality of Japanese voice casting, so the only thing that make me excited and curious is about the voice actresses/actors for this game. Because this is Square, I believe they will put Maaya Sakamoto in it, but I dunno with the others. Perhaps someone here can provide the info about it? :3

  • CIN

Are those Japanese voiceovers exclusive to Ps3 version? or is it possible to download them for pc as well?

Comes out the same day as Disgaea 4: Return. Buying both on the same day will give you radically differing views on demons.
