Senran Kagura Cooking Rhythm Game Announced, Senran Kagura EV Teased

By Sato . January 7, 2014 . 3:39am

The Senran Kagura series is known for its busty ninja fighting action, but the immediate future of the series is taking the form of a new cooking rhythm game, called Dekamori Senran Kagura, for PlayStation Vita, according to this week’s Famitsu magazine.

The magazine categorizes the game as a “hyper big-breasted cooking-rhythm game” and it will be developed by Meteorise, who helped making titles such as Yui-Itsu-Sei Million Arthur, Lord of Vermillion Re:N, Ciel NoSurge, and more.

The name “Dekamori” derives from a combination of the words “dekai,” which means large (often used to describe breasts) and “oomori,” meaning large portion (often used for food). While Dekamori Senran Kagura will be focusing a lot on the cooking and rhythm game aspects—don’t worry, if you lose, you strip, so it’s still Senran Kagura.

Additionally, the magazine also reports that there will be one more title that is expected to be released for unspecified Sony platforms, called Senran Kagura EV, which is said to be related to Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus.

Dekamori Senran Kagura is cooking up for a release on March 20 for PlayStation Vita. The game will include both sets of ninjas from Senran Kagura Burst and will cost 2,400 yen. Other characters who appeared in Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus will be added as DLC for 2,500 yen on April 24, 2014.

A Full-set version of the game will be available later for 4,083 yen. Meanwhile, Senran Kagura 2 is in development for Nintendo 3DS.

Senran Kagura on PS4? PLS? >:D

    I’ll buy this rhythm/cooking game for Vita though… :D

    • subsamuel01

      Even PS3 would be amazing.

  • Cooking game? Na, not for me.

“Additionally, the magazine also reports that there will be one more title that is expected to be released for unspecified Sony platforms, called Senran Kagura EV, which is said to be related to Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus.”

THIS~ <3 I'm looking forward to this one the most of the three games announced. Shinovi Versus was so great! Can see it for Vita (obv) and maybe PS3, too.

  • Shippoyasha

This reminds me of the Persona 5 fiasco where people were going haywire because of the Dancing All Night game and Persona Q.

If it was just the cooking game, I can imagine the outrage. But if EV is Versus 2 in actuality, I think people will get to warm up to the cooking game too.

Which reminds me of how food-oriented Senran Kagura really was. I hope it packs in the comedy, fanservice and rhythm action. As for EV, I hope we get more delicious Shinovi Versus action.

    • Luis Camargo

      Persona 4 The Cooking game.
Whoever loses will have to eat Yukiko’s food.

It would work as a midnight channel program.

      • MyBodyIsReady

You can tell after one bite that this isn’t edible…There’s no way you can swallow it…

        • Luis Camargo

          If you survive said bite…

      • Learii

you mean Chei’s mystery food X lol

        • Kumiko Akimoto

You mean something chie, yukiko and rise made from scratch on their own without any guidance?

          • Learii

ya when they went to school camp

        • Derek

Maybe Chie just needs something more comfortable in her field of work, like grilling meat. She does always have craving for beef, a girl like her could make at least bbq edible, just anything requiring more effort than “cut and cook” is something you stay away from.

    • Rolling Guy

Pretty sure you’re making that sushi roll Asuka always has on her. Katsuragi’s ramen, that blonde’s bean sprouts. What else?

      • Demeanor

Wasn’t one the episode endings in the anime tied to the Hebijoshi trying their hand at cooking? With awesomely disastrous results, I seem to recall Mirai “cooking” a huge fish head, Haruka some sort of purple poison XD
        I mean this: YT v = OoJsz9Fv2fk

        • Rolling Guy

Oh yeah, that would be loads of fun. This is Persona’s Mystery Food X all over again!

    • Kamakuma

Honestly I never understood the whole rage fiasco that resulted from when Dancing all night was announced. It generally looks pretty darn fun to me. Heck it’s became a trend for me and my friends lately. “Dude? You know we’re gonna be dancing all night right?” *bro fist*

So yea I guess I’m still just a derp. X’3

      • Rolling Guy

And using megadilaon every once in a while? Totally. I would be buying that game, definitely. That smile is MEGADILAON!

        Gets me every time.

      • Lalum

The hate was mostly because people wanted some P5 announcements, which we later got. People have mostly warmed up to the game now.

        • British_Otaku

So people were seething for literally minutes/hours before we heard about Persona 5. The comment sections must be hilarious in hindsight.

Similar to this, they got multiple announcements at once including the most desired result and fresh ideas which look worth a spin.

  • Juän Josë

    Cooking game?……

  • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

Well, it’s something alright. Though I’ll wait for more details to come.

  • Bobby Jennings

Another Rhythm game for Vita? Whoaaa

  • Stripping? As if I didn’t stripped enough playing Akiba’s Trip 2.

  • tubers

    It’s also a PSP game?

    • British_Otaku

The PSP is alive and well in 2014, I guess.
At this point, I would be surprised if anything sold better on the PSP than the Vita though even if it is nice that I could play it on any of the two region free platforms.

  • Kayseur

EV better be Shinovi Versus 2 for Vita. I couldn’t care less about a SK rhythm game, and there’re already many games of the genre available or coming.

  • tubers

Unannounced title seems scary if it’s a PS3/PS4 game that could potentially make the VITA version perceived as much inferior product unless the PS3/PS4 title are in a completely different genre (perhaps TB/S/RPG).

Too bad for the VITA but I guess they’ll go where the money is at.

    • Kayseur

Yeah. That doesn’t make much sense to me, if they do make a cross-plateform (most likely PS3 / PSV) taking away the exclusivity of the Vita, it could be seens as “going where the money is at”. Yet they are releasing SK2 on 3DS and thus staying true to what they said about leaving the main line on 3DS.

They should just do the same and leave the Versus on PSV, especially since it sold well to begin with. But I’ll wait for now and keep my words of sadness for later.

  • Mitsukiix

i want to bake an egg on asuka’s breasts.

  • MaximDualBlade

Is this franchise that good or is it the fanservice that pushes it? I doubt it’s just the fanservice because in all honesty, you can watch hentai for free if you’re interested in anime porn, so I will rephrase my question: Could someone explain me why you(the person who answers) enjoy this series without stating the obvious “I like PLOT and BACKSTORY” argument?

    • Thad McMichael

Because fanservice is ten times better than watching actual animated porn.

Firstly, there’s a higher budget. Most animated porn OVAs look like gifs just repeating itself for a few seconds.

Second, these games are lewd, not outright porn. It leaves a lot more to the imagination, making the entire experience more arousing.

Everyone knows musou games like Dynasty Warriors and One Piece are just mindless fun. Taking that mindless fun and adding breasts to it makes it fun for both you and your penis. It’s brilliant, really – but not something I’d recommend to just anyone.

      • MaximDualBlade

Thanks for the honest answer, if Shinovi Versus is localized I might try it, but IF it get localized(I think it will).

      • British_Otaku

        … MadThad?

        Nice post anyway.

        • Thad McMichael

I based my name on him, yeah. I made this account to funpost on a Norwegian newssite, and when I thought of “funposting” the name Thad instantly popped up in my head.

          And th-thanks.

    • Demeanor

Imo it may not be the masterpiece of the century, but it’s a pretty fresh take on the ninja world, something that is already very popular thanks to series like Naruto.
It’s set in modern times, although there’s still a lot of tradition and old methods of training, behaving and battling tied to the old ninja ways; the story is a pretty basic good vs evil plot where friendship trumps the differences between the two sides; like I said, nothing groundbreaking but the ensemble of light-hearted moments with more serious bits, good art and animation, cool modern day ninja moves and superhot heroines manages to do the job.
I wouldn’t say the fanservice is the only reason for its appeal, it’s certainly good to have and it’s plentiful, but there’s more to it than that; it’s the usual, subjective debate between people who like this stuff and people who avoid it, I certainly had fun playing Shinovi Versus and watching the anime. :)

      • MaximDualBlade

Thanks for the answer, you also explained the contextual plot(without caps lock XD). I might give Shinovi Versus a buy if it gets localized

  • Roberto

Cooking game i never this see this before

  • cyberkinghardy

I’ll wait for the announcement of Senran Kagura EV. Please make all the kunoichi in SK Burst be available on that game. And please make it on Vita port.

  • darkbartz

Just wanted to say that the title really reminds me of the Mjolnir Hammer herself. It’s only one letter off, and it sounds like it.

  • makubexnas

i dont know why but this game will be the first cooking game that me a Boner lol.

BTW anime girls can kill people with there cooking.

  • Servant BerserCAR

So, what kind of plot are provided here?

  • leingod

As long as EV is another action game in the vein of Shinovi Versus and also for Vita, I’m OK with this.

    • British_Otaku

Two SV games year on year is a little quick, but I guess it isn’t confirmed to release in the same time period and ideally I want Vita owners to get more SV soon enough if we are getting another SK.

  • Raika Souku

Cooking Rhythm Game that all that need to be said for a crazy twist is good enough to catch my interest but adding in senran kagura you got yourself a sale

  • KuroNathan

Cooking… rhythm game? Well I guess you can make it something like got to chop the ingredients to a certain beat or crack the eggs at the right time. I’m looking forward to some gameplay vids

  • Edzo04

    naked apron senses tingling

  • Sergio Briceño

EV probably stands for “enormous volume”.

  • dahuuuundge

hehe, I’m ready for some large portion boobies.

  • Yan Zhao

    “Hyper big-breasted rhythm cooking game”.

  • “If you lose, you strip”

    Best. Cooking. Game. Ever. lol

  • Yuan

Looks like the producer aims to release the games with initial S, E and X (maybe Y for the last) with SV series in the vein of titles from Ikkitousen games (Shining Dragon, Eloquent Fist and Xross Impact). Though I wonder why they kept the ‘V’ this time~

Also, EV stands for ESTIVAL VERSUS. Maybe you can notice which hardware he meant with the title name (check the character used in ESTIVAL and guess which platform got all of its characters there).

Also Takaki also mentioned that Dekamori is the First Spin-off from Senran Kagura series (which means the social game is not included). So he doesn’t treat SV as some spin-off (if you’ve played all the story mode, you won’t think it’s just some spin-off anyway).

  • Nintendojitsu

Dekamori Senran Kagura: How to make Vita an even bigger joke in Japan.

  • Demeanor

EV… my guess is V would be for Versus, but E?… anyone care to guess?

    • otakumike

      extra versus?

    • ronin4life

      • Demeanor

I thought ‘extra’ too, but ecchi and erotic definitely sound more like something Takaki would cook up XD
Vita would be nice, but imagine if they shoot for PS4… :P

        • otakumike

    • J_Joestar

  • otakumike

    Time to make some sammiches…

  • TheExile285

Wow, I knew this would end up like the Persona stream. Hopefully SK EV is like Shinovi Versus and for Vita lol.

    • J_Joestar

since 2 is on the 3DS, i doubt they want to alienate the Vita crowd with a cooking game and then not give them EV afterwards at least.

  • Learii

    uh… cooking-rhythm game? I don’t know

  • TheLastBattalion

It’s on PSP. That’s all that matters.
Now I don’t have to buy a PS Vita to experience this game ^_^
Needless to say, I doubt they are going to localize this.

  • Anesia Hunter

this sounds weird, but it is a spin-off game. regardless of it being weird i still want to give this a shot, since i’m interested to see how this goes. (anybody else remember the methods of cooking from the SK anime hebijo ending?)

I hope EV is Shinobi VS. sequel otherwise my opinion is that Vita is only getting the shit stuff of the franchises ._.

  • British_Otaku

A scan of the Cooking Rhythm game, kudos goes to the International Academy guys and Furisu212 on GameFAQs who brought it to a site I actually visit… >_>

    • tubers

      Nice post.

  • fyi1191

Haruka will murder everyone with her cooking.

  • ekibyougami

After the livestream presentation just now, I think Dekamori Senran Kagura is exclusive for PS Vita (sadly, it’s not hitting the PSP).

And Senran Kagura: Eestival Versus will be on Playstation multi-platform.

  • Kenny Loh

  • Vulpis

So….Cooking Mama with lots of fanservice?

  • Pheria

I’m new to importing games pre-release and may want to go for this one. I haven’t seen it pop up anywhere like play-asia yet, is it likely to be digital only?
