Here’s hoping they don’t actually make it Vita exclusive.

  • safeto20scroll

    ( ; A;)

    • otakumike

How will Naomi butter up her pooper now!? T_T

      • safeto20scroll

        GDI LOL

  • H.A.MK

I hope that they don’t make it like Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient and make it possible to fight off enemies and soldier like enemies. That would take off the feel of helplessness of the series.

    • Ryo-kun

LOL no thanks. That will turn it into another resident evil.

      • Anthony Birken

By resident evil, u talkin 5&6 type thing? and yea, don’t like the looks of dead patient.

        • H.A.MK

The story development in CP2:DP is good and there are some elements that creeps out the player . However, it started to divert from the original by introducing a combat system and weird zombie like creatures roaming the place which made it look like RE in a sense and changed the game concept from a psychological-horror to Survival-Horror to certain degree.

          • Kumiko Akimoto

I think it’s better to give characters some form of being able to fight back but it’s not like using a crutch is really all the same as using a gun

          • H.A.MK

That is true, but think of it like Amnesia:The Dark Decent. Compare how scary the game would be if you could fight back against the grunts by mashing a button and how you have to hide, dodge and avoid them. But you make a valid point

          • Kumiko Akimoto

Hmm well that’s true but actually that’s actually kind of a problem that both amnesia and corpse party share is that though you do have to get away with or hide you generally really aren’t in any danger at all. so it sorta kills the scary and just becomes depressing as the story goes on and the chapters

        • DyLaN

Unless CP has a TPS spin-off ala DR: Another Episode, nope.

      • DyLaN

Isn’t the earlier RE are more closer to CP in term of style/gameplay?

    • DragKudo

How about they give us the ability to fight but here’s the twist it doesn’t do anything. Then we would really get that helplessness. I really didn’t feel helpless in the first game, just angry because i kept falling in the floor holes.

      • H.A.MK

That is like adding a car but there are no roads to drive it on. It’s pointless to do, not to mention it will add more work to the development team.

    • Barrylocke89

I’ve been keeping away from CP2 info so I didn’t know that. That kinda sucks. Besides that, how would you say it compares to Book of Shadows and the original?

      • H.A.MK

CP2 does a good job in being creepy but how they are executed kinda reminds me of the deaths in RE2. In the original Corpse Party and Book of Shadows, players are left to imagine how a character dies from the text provided (which is, in my humble opinion, the most messed up thing ever). This helps the game to be memorable as players can keep thinking and imagining how character dies and how would they look like after it which invokes the psychological horror. This is cemented with great voice acting and binary surround sound effects. In CP2, the player can see how the characters die. I am going to use an example from the game (Spoiler, sorry). One of the bad endings in CP2 involves everybody being eaten alive by dead patients in a RE2 fashion. The horror ends there and you don’t usually think about it anymore. Also, by adding combat (which is rather rather useless) to temporary fend off enemies is just out of place. Sorry, wrote too much

        • Barrylocke89

No, it explains this excellently. One of the things that actually made Corpse Party stick with me was the “tell, don’t show” philosophy they had with the bad ends. You never see the horror actually happen, but you do HEAR it happen, or hear it described, or see the after-effects once its over. And as you said, the voice acting in CP was especially good, and when combined with the good localization work, there were some really creepy moments in there (the anatomical model…*shudder*). Watching chibi characters get manhandeled doesn’t sound like it would be quite so scary.

I suppose we’ll see if/when Xseed localizes it.

  • Thrasher429

I want to say this is awesome due to how much more detailed they are compared to the psp…but then I realised it also means that the ways they get mutilated will be even worse now

  • tubers

The models would’ve been stellar except for the PSOne hands.

..Then again, they may be rendered too distant from the screen and extra hand details would be a waste.

    I hope there’s plenty of 2D artwork during scenes like P4G/Star Ocean/etc.

    • Thrasher429

Come now they are at least PS2 level, besides imagine how weird it would look to have super realistic hands on character models like those.

  • Anthony Birken

My heart cries for this series, I loved the first two, but am losing faith in regards to a localization. Please don’t pull any Sega’s with PSO2, I’ve lost heart for that already. That last chapter in book of shadows really got me going (although I don’t think there were any alternate ends and such).

    • H.A.MK

Don’t worry about that. Xseed stated that they would localize Blood Drive but won’t do that for Hysteric Birthday (3rd installment in the series).

      • Anthony Birken

Alright then, just a matter of time. I was aware of the Hysteric Birthday situation :/, wouldn’t mind playing it though~

  • Go2hell66

Hoooo boy its gonna be 3D

  • Göran Isacson

Oh God Seiko models. This will only end in tears. Either tears when we find out she’s not in the game and this was just a joke, or tears when she comes back and Corpse Party Corpse Parties all over her again.

    • Ping92

I don wanna see seiko die again.

Kinda hoping she doesn’t die but i don tink it’s possible

      • Kumiko Akimoto

        she’s already dead

        • Fitzkrieg

        • Ping92

Noooo stahp! There is still hope!

          • Kumiko Akimoto

I’m sorry but she won’t come back as much as her funny ass personality really demands more screen time she’ll forever be in eternal agony never being able to get sweet release from her suffering

  • Pdugna

YESSS!!!! NEWSSS!!!!! woot :D OT: models looks great

  • Guest

Satsuki finally start to act her age?
And what happened to her old brother?

  • FlobotingIt

Damn, at first I thought these were the nendoroids. Cool. I’m really looking forward to this game. I still should get Book of Shadows. I kind of enjoyed the first game, but I think it’s worth it to see where this one ends. And (silly, yeah) I hope there are alternate costumes! Like, maybe a costume similar to the Dead Patient main character.

  • Kayriss Wins

So did Seiko not actually die or what? oh well I don’t care I’m just glad she’s back.

    • Jesse

Maybe she’ll be in a flashback?

    • Kumiko Akimoto

They do flashbacks frequently you know, hell maybe we’ll be able to play as sekai and hear her thoughts before she dies

    • Bigabu Beaze

Then I hope Shig is back too.

  • XiaomuArisu

    There soooo cute~
    ….game gonna be bloody

  • I am ready for some Vita horror gaming! Can’t wait for the release… and hopefully the localization!

  • Ric Vazquez

    Amen brother

  • PoweredByHentai

It’s the cutest HORROR game ever made!

    Soooooooooooooo conflicted.

Oh yeah, Spencer, this IS crossing the pond, right? I mean, has XSEED mentioned anything about localizing this?

DERP. The related articles links and images weren't showing up when I initially posted this.

    • TheExile285

I think someone asked about it in a PSBlog comment and they reply they were interested in it.

  • Kumiko Akimoto

Hmm I saw this on the memory of fear blog I don’t mind this style

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

Those sprites look too nice for a game like Corpse Party. Knowing Team Grindhouse they’ll probably add a SOF-like GHOUL engine to make every gory sequence even more grotesque. Lets not forget about the Tortured Souls anime which is unnaturally violent even compared to Elfen Lied, Higurashi, Mirai Nikki, Berserk, Kite or even Another.

  • fish8100

Hope you get to play as different characters like the previous Corpse Party games. Ayumi was never my favourite. Wonder who will die this time ;_;… I’d like if all previous survivors did but I have my doubts about that lol.
