Dekamori Senran Kagura Made To Satisfy Mankind’s Three Major Desires

Marvelous AQL recently surprised us by announcing three new Senran Kagura titles, including an upcoming rhythm/cooking game featuring the series’ busty ninjas. In an interview with Famitsu magazine, series producer Kenichiro Takaki talks about how the idea of Dekamori Senran Kagura came to be.

Famitsu starts the Dekamori Senran Kagura talk by asking how why decided to make it a download-only title for PlayStation Vita.

“This will be part of the challenging plan of creating our first spin-off title. So rather than starting off with a physical version and selling it at a high price, we decided to sell it a price where it can be purchased in a lighthearted manner,” explains Takaki.

“Since we’re holding down the price, I believe that some people who are thinking ‘maybe I should try it out,’ will have a higher chance of doing so, which is one of the possibilities I want to make happen.”

Next, Famitsu asks about the reason they decided to go with a cooking theme for Dekamori Senran Kagura.

“I believe that mankind’s three major desires come from sex, appetite and sleep, and we’ve covered plenty of the first part, so I think that next would be appetite. That way we can cover both sex and appetite desires at once,” shares Takaki with a laugh.

Famitsu then asks how the rhythm genre came into play.

“In terms of gameplay and storytelling, I just wanted to have something that can be played lightheartedly,” responds Takaki. “Instead of having something that requires complicated controls, having cute girls cooking while occasionally being seen in naughty situations would need a system that would allow you to watch it leisurely. We thought that a rhythm game would suit it best. Food, music and erotica.”

Out of curiosity, Famitsu asks what kind of music one can expect from Dekamori Senran Kagura.

“We’ve prepared a total of 22 new tracks,” says Takaki. “Out of that, there are six songs that were specially picked up for the occasion. They’re all good songs; some are silly while others are cool, and they were chosen to fit the image of the characters.”

Additionally, Takaki also mentions that players who’ve purchased DLC for Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versusi will be able to use it in Dekamori Senran Kagura, so they won’t have to worry about having to repurchase them again.

Finally, the series producer says that there will be “costume destruction,” as it wouldn’t be a Senran Kagura game without the feature. According to Takaki, it’ll happen to the character with fewer cooking points, and if you’re wondering how much destruction, it’ll be similar to that of Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus.

Dekamori Senran Kagura is slated for release on March 20, for PlayStation Vita.
