Summon Shantotto And Others With The Power Of Trust In Final Fantasy XI

By Spencer . January 21, 2014 . 2:37am

imageFinal Fantasy XI has a new kind of magic called “trust” that let’s players summon NPC characters to fight by their side. The list of characters includes Shantotto who uses offensive magic, Joachim from the Abyssea quests, and Trion to absorb damage.

Players can use Trust magic when they’re solo and you can have up to three alter ego NPCs with you. Add your Adventuring Fellow to the group and you have an AI party.

Also in February, Square Enix will release Relic Armor for the Geomancer and Rune Fencer classes. Players will also be able to get faces including Prishe and Ulmia from the Chains of Promathia expansion.

They’re releasing them so fast… I still need 2000 Allied Notes for Valaineral ;(

Hmm. This kind of thing could be useful if they ever decided to release FFXI as an offline game in the future.

I daresay its already quite useful for several reasons. It has already brought back people who used to play the game but no longer have friends or linkshells around. (2 of my friends from another MMO are currently moonlighting on XI)

It can let those same people level up jobs they never tried or try content they never got a chance to before. It can also appeal to the more solo orientated/time contrained nature of the current era of online gamers for people who have never taken the jump in to XI before.

They’re still supporting this game? Wow, most profitable FF indeed.

And some of us play it!

I sort of want to. I played WoW for a year and 1/2, why not this as well? Besides, I never played XI.

I started like… 2 weeks ago now? Been enjoying the entire thing. There’s really no better time to start.

Still, like I would say to anyone, it’s still an older game. Expect to be looking things up, and have some patience. Thanks to trust magic, you can solo very easily now, but the game is still 11 years old. The storylines are amazing regardless.

Like any MMO, friends will make it more enjoyable, but even still, I solo most of the time and it’s great.

Well, of course. I’ve heard that the game is much faster and far more aesthetically beautiful than WoW, and obtaining multiple level 50 characters in Eorzea is much easier than obtaining multiple level 90 characters in Azeroth.

Oh yeah, I know of at least two linkshell communities that are just comprised of friends of mine that play the game. It seems like a lot of fun, all in all.
