Last week, Bandai Namco teased a mobile game project they’re working on with CyberConnect2, and stated: “The adventure will be courageously endearing”. The game has been revealed as Little Tail Story, a fantasy RPG about cats and dogs.

The above is Little Tail Story’s first trailer, where we get a glimpse of the world that is made of two races: cat and dog people.

In Little Tail Story, you’ll be putting together parties and getting help from others to take on numerous quests, as you upgrade your weapons and equipment to take on harder tasks.

The game’s party system is similar to that of Youkai Watch for Nintendo 3DS, as you use the touch screen to rotate through various party members in combat.

The combat itself is active command-based, and you’ll be rotating through different cats and dogs to find the best combination of attacks using with elemental strengths and weaknesses.

There will be plenty of bosses to fight, and you can use full party attacks like the Cyclone Attack shown at the halfway point of the video.

Evolution, class-up, job changes, and item synthesis are some of the features that will help you power-up your party. There are classes such as Swordsman, Knight, Guardian, Wariror, Mage, and more.

Jobs have their own unique skills and can be acquired to use with other jobs upon learning them, similar to the system in Final Fantasy Tactics.

Little Tail Story will launch in spring 2014l for mobile devices.

ughhh so sick of all the phone games~
More for that fact that they should be on the psvita or the ds.

    • ThatGuy3190_7

I fail to see the appeal for smartphone games. Honestly, if I want to play a game when I am away from home, I would grab my 3DS or Vita. If all else fails, then there is always Tetris and Bomberman on my phone.

      • Morningstar

I think the smartphone games exist because they are easier for average joes to access. Most of the population already has a blackberry or iPhone and the current economic climate means the casual crowd would not want to buy a console or handheld (the people that frequent the internet might but only if there a game or two that worth it).

        • harmonyworld

Only if you like micro transactions where it’s pay to win~

          • Morningstar

I sometimes wonder if people are complaining about mobile games because of the microtransactions

          • harmonyworld

Probably also because a phone is not a gaming console.
            It’s not made like one~
I have an ipod touch and it’s difficult for it to run games and it runs super hot if I play too long.
It’d probably be better if I had an Iphone or Ipad, but I don’t have a need for one.
            I’ll save up my cash for a PS4 :3

  • ThatGuy3190_7

Seeing as I love dogs, I was super excited…and then I read that it was a smartphone game…and that it was Japan only. Now I am disappoint.

  • D-Omen

*huge fan of Tail Concerto and Solatorobo*

    *reads “mobile”*

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!

    • pimpalicious

Mobile or not this looks nothing like those games. XD

  • http://watercrown.info/ Ryusui

This is not the Tail Concerto/Solatorobo sequel we were expecting. I am not amused.

    • pimpalicious

I wasn’t expecting that myself but was hoping.

      • Tg

Yep. We just got to wait patiently for “that day” to come.

  • Spirit Macardi

I want this so bad, but I don’t have and don’t want a smartphone! D:

  • CirnoTheStrongest

Now to just hope the Google Play version gets localized…

  • Taylor Davis

NOOO!…I give up…I love dogs and I thought it looked cute but I guess I’ll wait for something that’s NOT for the mobile phone!

  • Carocaro4

welp, it looks pretty and it has a lot of character put into it.

  • Erick Jahzeel Maradiaga Mairen

.!. another shitty game added to the list…. thanks namco bandai after the epic failure with dragon ball battle of z u hit us in the face with this stupid game…….

  • riceisnice

    They sure are restless.

  • LexKitteh

Well that was disappointing. I must have been crazy hoping for a 3DS Solatorobo sequel.

  • Chido55

This is beautiful and awesome looking.
I don’t mind playing this cutesy on my Vita :D

    Yeah, I said that.
    Dammit mobile-only games. >.>

  • Godmars

The thing that gets me isn’t the iOS-only, though that is a thing, but rather it isn’t steampunk.

  • GameTaco

My phone needs this so bad. I was sold when I saw the kitty dressed as Kite. :3

  • Byas

Oh, screw you both, Namco and CC2. Here I was hyped for a new Tail Concerto just to find out it’s a mobile game.

  • Duc PC-QB

    Everything is mobiled

  • Althegamefreak

Don’t worry everyone, this is a spin off title. Don’t forget about Strelka Stories and whether or not they make a direct sequel to Solatorobo.

  • Γεώργιος Αρχαιοκαπηλίδης

Α new Little Tail Bronx game and it’s a casual rpg for mobile phones? Well, that’s kinda disappointing. But to be fair with Bandai Namco, Tail
Concerto and Solatorobo were never huge hits, so it’s better than
nothing. Furthermore for a mobile phone game it looks quite well-made
and of course very cute and charming. Unfortunately many nice japanese
games for mobile phones are never localized. And if they do, some of
them are legion locked in some countries like Puzzle&Dragons and
    Brave Frontier.

Therefore instead of bitching for being a mobile
phone game (like most people do here) I wish to be released in the west
market without region lock and pay-to-win gameplay.

  • Namuro

    The music is really nice!

  • E.T.993

That looks nice…It’s not the sequel I’ve been waiting for but the game still looks nice.I just hope it’ll be on 3DS and Vita.

  • Freud_Hater

If I may quote a bit of Mystery Science Theatre:

“Wow… It’s not every day you see the stupidest thing you’ve ever seen…”

Two of my favourite gaming companies making this… such a waste…

  • Neophoton

…W-Well… I was hoping for Strelka Stories, but I’d probably play this while I sit in a corner of woe.

  • Kuromadou

actually i want to give it a try, but it seems it won’t published outside japan… .__.
