To the dismay of scalpers… And to the joy of fans like me who signed up to be notified by Amazon when it was in-stock only to never receive said email.

    • Keichi Morisato

it’s only on the BandiNamco store.

      • Micah Gajewski

When are they going for sale? It still says sold out it looks like…

        • Keichi Morisato

they probably haven’t updated their store page yet, i would give it a day or so, probably look later in the afternoon.

      • Yan Zhao

Wait is that true? I had mine pre-ordered on Amazon since October 2013 and its still marked as “not available” and how they’ll let me know when it is. Should I just cancel it and attempt to get it from NacomBandai store instead?

        • Keichi Morisato

go to the Bandi store first and try to preorder it before canceling your amazon whatever…

    • Kevin Chang

still no word on when it`s gonna restock?

  • Lloyd Christmas

Probably my favorite Tales game. Or at-least the only one I was able to stomach all the way up to the end.

    I’m looking at you, Graces.

    • chibidw

What didn’t you like about Asbel’s constant self-flagellation?

      • How did you happen to misspell “Colette”?

    • God

Really? I thought the gampleay made up for the flaws…

    • You mean you didn’t like Tales of Ffffrrrieeenddss???

    • Keichi Morisato

did you not play Tales of the Abyss, Vesperia, or Xillia?

    • piichan

with you there. i’m trying hard to get into the others and i have xillia sitting on my ps3 but it just doesn’t have the same appeal that tos gave me. *please don’t burn me tox fans*

I need to buy this now. When will I be able to buy it??

    • BossBullet

      Sorry hotlinking is not allowed?

      • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

It means it is a site tat wants the hits, so it doesn’t allow you to share. They must need the revenue from visitors. Means a dinky website.

        • BossBullet

Thanks for the information :), though I was more curious about the image.
I probably should have worded that better.

          • Surgeon of Death

Wasn’t aware of the hot linking thing. Here ya go

          • BossBullet

Man looking at this makes me wish I could spend that much on a collectors edition.

          • Kornelious

I sure hope we get the game case AND the steelbook. But not many people do that :(

          • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

4 Disc OST, now that’s an OST. Nintendo, this is what BD should have had *shakes fist*

          • Surgeon of Death

My BD special edition just shipped too :) RPG gamer for life

  • I’m slowly paying off my amazon order I’m excite!

  • Soooooo when will the copies be available? Need to pre-order ASAP! >_<

    • Stranger On The Road

Interesting, in the EU the pre-order was opened with retailers months ago. I think I pre-ordered mine somewhere in December.

  • Slickyslacker

    Oh, wonderful.

If only I had another $60…

Ah well, I suppose I’ll just get it somehow in the distant future, along with all of the other limited editions I’ve missed out on.

  • HerosLight

I’m on the edge of changing my pre-order to collectors edition.

    Extremely tempting.

  • AlphaSixNine

I can only hope this will get an Asia release. Xillia had one and it was nice that my local game store had it.

  • NLucafs

Any word on when the new stock will be up for preorder? And is this only on Namco’s store?

  • pixxxelz

My wallet can’t handle this.. >_<

  • ThatGuy3190_7

Why do so many amazing games have to be released this month and March? The Emil nendoroid and art book are the ones that are calling my name the most.

    • ThatGuy3190_7

And an upgrade from an SD TV to an HD would help so I can read the on-screen texts without straining my eyes.

      • Masa

Forget getting games, grab a HDTV, never forget the day i upgraded, the difference it makes in gaming.

        • ThatGuy3190_7

I think I’m going to get an HDTV for gaming purposes. I can’t bear to depart with my SD for sentimental reasons.

  • $61526767

Just a few bucks away from getting the collectors edition. Still day one 1.

  • Scarlet_Devil_Slave

Hmmm EBgames’ website says it also comes with a Steelbook Case. Can’t seem to find an image of it anywhere. Mistake on their part?

  • Xerain

Be nice if they could have announced it back when it originally sold out so I didn’t spend the money I was saving for it on something else.

  • Euphoria

Anyone know where to pre order this? Everywhere I look it’s still out of stock.

  • Nightmare637

had mine pre order since it was available, can’t wait till the 25th.

  • Slayven19

99 bucks? Do not want…If I had the cash then maybe.

  • JuVu

I hate to sound like a nagger here, but this was one of the cases where I really thought that us Europeans would get an equal treatment with CE of the game.

    I guess not.

We won’t get the steelbook, no art booklet, and… what, the US version has four soundtrack discs? Why the hell is our promotional image showing only two? Oh, and the novel isn’t hardcover. Of course. What the ****. I love the CE, but when it’s compard to the US one, it just feels unfair. Why won’t we have all that stuff in our CE?

What is it with the inferior treatment towards Europan market? Is a proper localization process really that much of a pain in the ass to do? And I’m not talking about just this case, just look at the Vita’s lineup. Muramasa, Mind=ZERO, Conception 2, Drakengard 3, all of these are digital-only titles here in Europe. It seems like only NISA gives us the physical releases anymore for these kinds of games, and even then, no LEs for us. And of course, the lack of any kind of LE’s of the games, except for Namco Bandai. And even in their CE’s the contents are inferior compared to the US ones. Remember that Bravely Default CE? In that case, it finally looked like us Europeans would get a better version of the CE, like finally! And then the close-up images of the figurine came out. We didn’t have a chance to get a CE without that monstrosity, not unlike you guys living in US. You got all the good stuff in that CE, be happy that you didn’t need to pay extra for that horrible figurine.

“But hey, you could import all those games!”

That’s pretty much the problem. All the hardcore gamers pretty much just import their games, because they don’t want to wait for the PAL release or the US versions of the games are better in terms of quality and content (mainly talking about special versions in this case). And when this happens, of course they won’t be buying the game again when it eventually comes out in their own region. And then, the publishers see that “oh, this game doesn’t sell here, not worth it, let’s just forget these guys and contentrate to the US market”. Hard exacerbating right here, but this is what it feels like when we’re getting our games later, with no proper CEs and in worst cases, with some content removed (Prof Layton and Spectre’s Call, I’m looking at you). And of course, 3DS. Region-locked. The pain-in-the-ass localization process prevented us from gettin Rune Factory 4. Seeing how things are now, I wouldn’t be surprised if they wouldn’t release SMT4 here at all. My expectations for equal treatment for EU gamers have hit the rock bottom, and fallen through that.

Sorry to rant about this for this amount, but I just need to know if there are other people who have noticed this? The worst thing is that I don’t know what we could do about it, I’ve been buying all of my games as EU versions (excluding the ones that were never released here), and I just feel like I’m missing out on better products in return of trying to make the publishers see that there is a market for these kinds of games here in Europe, too.

    • Isshak Gravi

Hi! Tales community manager for Europe here. About the OST, you’re getting the same thing. We were just planning on using 2 DVDs but decided to switch to 4 CDs too :) EDIT: woops mispoke: we are getting two CDs but we have the same tracklist (don’t ask me why, technology is magic will be my answer)
Concerning the differences, we always do our best to offer the same thing between EU and the US but some differences happen since we don’t work with the same people. For example, our printer is obviously somewhere in Europe while the US’ will be closer to them, which involves different prices and can lead to different designs.
The US has a steelcase but doesn’t have a phone pouch which EU does, it happens, but we’d like to think the most important thing for fans is to have a CE very close to the Japanese one, which was our main goal! We’re just humans though, so we can only take your feedback and continue to try and do better.

      • JuVu

Wow, huge thanks for taking time out of you schedule and posting a reply here. I’m glad you clarified the soundtrack thing.

In case of other things, have you thought about working together with several third parties with the extras, so that the cost and quality of the extra goods would be as close as possible to the US ones? Of course, I understand when release window is closing in and there are many things that need to be done in order for the game and CEs to be ready and delivered in time, but could it be possible to have these steelbooks and hardcover novels as some sort of separate products after the release for those who would like to have them that way? Maybe doing some sort of collaboration with the US branch?

I appreciate the phone pouch pre-order bonus, even though it was only from few selected retailers (had to buy one basic version of the game just because of it in my country), but would it be possible (for the cases of future CEs) to have some sort of poll between US and EU fans about what kind of extras they would like to have along with CEs? This way there would be time to make sure that both regions get as equal treatment as possible. Some people may appreciate the phone pouch more, but the same goes with the steelcase to have in your shelf among the other games.

But the thought you’re having about giving us the version that is as close to the Japanese one as possible is really admirable, and I really have to thank you for that! I have actually pre-ordered three copies of the European CE, just to make sure I get one for the release date! This CE is one of the best things ever to happen for Tales series outside Japan, but the extras the US version got made the EU version look mightly inferior. But I’m glad to hear things weren’t as bad as I thought. Thanks again for answering!

      • FX102A

Was going to post my own rant on the CE differences but then read this. Disappointed about the hardback / soft back difference but understandable. I actually have ordered both CE’s but the need to pay an extra £70 to get everything does nag at my head sometimes.

Thanks for the informative post though.

      • James Williams

I would have much preferred a steelbook case over an ugly looking phone pouch though, please put these up for a vote in the future, it seems us in europe are repeatedly getting shafted when it comes to content and its really not fair.

      • Keichi Morisato

hi, Tales fan here, please talk to your superiors about releasing Tales of Phantasia on the Vita (and possibly not the 3DS if possible) (digitally) because i am rather insulted with the game being released on iOS and not a proper handheld, as i really want to play this game legally, or not go through the hassle of modding an imported copy of the PSX release of the game. i don’t want that atrocious GBA version, but the great PSP or PSX version of the game.

also… what happened to the final OVA that came with the Japanese release?

    • katzedan

Comes to South America and you’ll see that you european people are in paradise with these games!

      • fairysun

It’s the ‘grass always greener on the other side of the fence’ case.

        • katzedan

Yeah, and for me here in Brazil, it’s totally greener! xD
If I could get the CE for 99 dollars I would be the happiest person in the entire world. xD
Until today I didn’t found the CE on sale here, but I know it’ll probably cost like 200-300 dollars. :(
At least I could find the regular edition with a good price! So I’ll be happy just with that! :D

    • lordsofskulls

I feel the same way when I compare US CE to Japan CE….
Dark Souls 2 ‘s lil chest of mini weapons. >.>

  • Kornelious

“Packaged in a stee”…You mean steelbook?

  • Alexandra Cordes

Yeahhhh, I love you TOS, but I am not going for this.
Maybe if one of the figures was SHIINA I’d reconsider.

  • katzedan

Man I would totally kill to get this version, especially for that novel… but since it’s totally hard for me to get this where I live I will go for the regular edition :(

  • brostar

I have this on pre-order but I don’t think I’ll be able to afford it. All I want it for is the graphic novel anyway. Probably see scans of that on the internet.

  • 하세요

I’d pay that much for Vesperia’s stuff, but not Symphonia. Still unsure what others see in this game, but to each their own.

    • Brandonmkii

Yeah it’s not my favorite either, but it’s not terrible.

    • Muddied_Waters

I’d be willing to lay down the money for this despite ToS not being my favorite, though at this rate, even with an extra 3000 being made, I doubt I’ll get my chance, but if they were to ever come out with an amazing CE like this for Vesperia…ohhhhh man. I wouldn’t even think twice about the ToS CE in that case.

  • Lissomia

I preordered this the day is first game out, I am so excited! :)
I’ve been obsessed with this series since about 8 years ago when I discovered Tales of the Abyss. (Yikes, I just aged myself… eh. Oh well.)

  • lordsofskulls

    Collector editions coming out in February/march or… house… -.- house it is… *sight* Adulthood… and responsibilities… T.T

  • Scarletmoonwish

started paying it off little by Little as soon as the product was available for preorder, 5 dollars here, 5 dollars there, I still need to pay of 50 more….Yah for tax returns.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    $100…..? oh man if only I could live off of sunlight and water :{

  • Raltrios

As much as I want this, I gotta pass. I don’t have a PS3. I mean, I bought the Xillia CE, but one game for a system I don’t have (yet) is enough.

  • Kai2591

I shall purchase the collector’s edition!

    …I hope there’s one left for me…

  • new_tradition

Sorry, I’m a tad confused. Will a steelbook be available in all CEs, or just these mew 3000 extras? I ordered from amazon when it was still available, and the image they used looked like a hasty mock up

    • Lissomia

I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure it would come with all collector’s editions! That image was used before what was entirely in the collector’s edition was confirmed, I’m pretty sure it’s an image from the Japanese Lalabit edition, but I might be wrong :)

  • Andrew Van

The question now is, WHEN will we be able to purchase these extras!? D:

  • The_Superior_Spider-Mon

Is 18000 copies of the Collector’s Edition still a lot?

    • Surgeon of Death

Games like this tend to sale 150,000 to 250,000 so not really

  • Ladius

18k is a wonderful figure for the LE alone, some jrpgs in the States never sell that much with their whole print run. I doubt Symphonia Chronicles will match Xillia’s US sales, but it seems it will have a good performance regardless.

  • Kevin Chang

are they sold out already? i just checked the store and it said not in stock. not sure if that meant the xtra 3000 got sold out already

    • Henry

I tried to upgrade my pre-order today and they said the same thing. I don’t think their system has been updated with info for the extra 3000 copies. They told me to come back and try again tomorrow.

  • Kamakuma

I guess we must play the waiting game and check when we can. But I’ll be sure to tell if I see some available. >. <

  • mylesuncharted

i tried to join/register with namco store, but cannot because i can’t find a way to register on the site, just so i can pre order and buy the collector’s editions of tales of symphonia chronicles. any advice would be great.

  • Yamato

I was in gamestop the moment they opened the first day it was announced to get my CE for symphonia ^.^

  • Ryan Dube

So, did they already sell out of these 3,000 units? Because I just found out about this last night and I pray I’m not to late. I have been trying to get the pre-order for the collectors edition for a long time and really am nervous to buy this over ebay because not only will I pay an extremely over the top price but I also don’t want some guy to falsely advertise and actually not have it and pay (+)$200 dollars just to open up some note saying, “thanks for the free money!” My apologies for such a long post but Tales of Symphonia was my very first Tales game and I really want the collector’s edition.

  • Ryan Dube

When will these 3000 extra be available? I’ve been checking for a few days now and still haven’t seen anything

  • Jen Sample

I’ve checked the Namco store every day since this announcement with no changes. Does anyone know when/where they are selling these 3000 additional copies?

  • Jen Sample

Here it is launch day and the Namco store still hasn’t restocked, or even updated the item description to 18000 units. Where did they release this information that they were making more, because it sure doesn’t look like it.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

Although I shouldn’t really post on and old article on this, I too am wondering about this. Here’s what I found:

Notice the date? February 6th. One day after the additional 3000 units were said to be made. I would assume not THAT many people visit Bandai Namco’s online store (who knows) but from what I’m reading everywhere, those who checked there constantly found no restock.

I’m beginning to feel like they haven’t really done anything with the 3000 extra units yet. Heck, Tales of Xillia CE is back in stock.

Unless you’re really diehard to play the game, I suppose it’s alright to cave-in and buy the regular edition. I shall wait if the CE will be available ever again and if not I’ll settle with the regular one.

      • Jen Sample

Well I checked the site the day before yesterday and luckily saw them back in stock with limited quantities available, I was able to snag one, but checking again, they are out of stock again.
