Fight Monster Girls With Monster Girls To Save The World In Moero Chronicle

By Sato . February 5, 2014 . 4:00pm

Compile Heart’s upcoming RPG, Moero Chronicle, is their latest in the Monster World series, and this time you’ll be playing as a rather unenthusiastic young man, who will be traveling with monster girls to fight… well, other monster girls, to prevent them from destroying the world.

Compile Heart’s latest update shows us the game’s world and some of its characters.

The world of Moero Chronicle is made up of one giant continent, with humans living in the western region called “Loytium” and monster girls in the eastern region called “Monstopia”.

In between the two regions lies a town called Secrend, which is where the protagonist Io and his friend Lilia live. The monster girls also use this town as a passageway to get into Loytium.

The above is a look at Monstopia. The land is divided into six areas, with each one being controlled by a monster girl leader. The areas beyond these are considered to be uncivilized, and ever since the disasters began to occur around the world, many powerful men have ventured into the said uncivilized areas, and one has yet to return.

Next, here’s a look at some of the heroes of Moero Chronicles.

Io:

Io is the protagonist of Moero Chronicle, and he’s as ordinary of a person as they come. In order to save the world, he was sent by the village elder (by force) to go on a journey.

He is easily swayed by those around him, and he isn’t really the sharpest tool in the shed. However, he has a delicate and kind heart, but due to his timid nature, he doesn’t show it often.

Lilia:

Lilia is the monster girl heroine of the game, and is also the only person Io can speak openly with. She joins Io on his journey, which will probably come in handy for him, as she’s composed and takes good care of those around her.

However, anything love-related happens to be her biggest weakness, which can cause her to lose it even when it comes to little things.

Leche:

Leche is a cat monster girl, who began to express hostility towards humans. Thanks to Io and Lilia, she has regained her senses and decided to tag along with her an Io. She’s a quiet and modest girl, and finds peace by getting along with Io and Lilia.

Otton:

Otton may have a manly voice to go with his cute appearance, but he’s actually a weird, perverted monster. He prides himself on his cute looks and loves being pampered by girls.

He’s traveling around the world to collect monster girl panties, and decides to join Io because he thinks that something good will come of it.

Moero Chronicle will be released on April 24, 2014 for PlayStation Vita.

I’m happy more Monster Girl games are coming out, I’m just sad that very few of the monster girls in these games feel like actual monster girls and are instead just normal anime girls but with like ears or a tail or something.

    • KoRLumen

      Agreed :c

    • biskmater

      Hardcore, aren’t we?

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      yeah :{

    • Iluz

If you really want monstrous monster girls, you can always get Monmusu Quest. More of that will be just too much for me though.

    • Arrngrim

Okayado for President of the World! (~.~)/

  • Prinny Dood

So is it an rpg a card battle :/

    • MitsukiIX

      its a dungeon crawler.

      • Prinny Dood

        Oh, thanks

      • Nickie

Which makes me want it more. T^T

  • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Has Compile Heart artist written all over it…yup googled it.

  • Nickie

Happy with monster monpiece coming out but the censorship was a bit of a let down. Hoping this one is localized as I love the art a lot more ( agarest artist yay!) but if it does I bet it would be censored to. =

  • Kaihedgie

Call me when a slime girl shows up, then we can talk :T

  • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 禍津水樹

I’m importing the limited edition, I hope I like it cause I’ve not been into dungeon crawlers in the past

    • Pheria

Do you think it will be as simple as Monster Monpiece, thus making it import friendly? Or do you know enough Japanese to get by?

I’m considering importing, but don’t have any Japanese skills.

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

The character design and art style are too my liking. I want it.

  • Lazulis

Io has a lot of Miku in his design haha. I read Loytium as Lolitium somehow…

I eagerly await the day there’s a game where you can fight monster girls and boys * v *

    • DyLaN

Well….. Both Unchained Blades games and Shining Force EXA/Feather games have a bunch of Monster Guys/Girls as the PCs.

      • Landale

The Shining series in general has been loaded with Monster Girls and Guys almost from the start. The first Shining Force alone had a ton of centuars, a fox girl, a mouse girl that sadly and oddly got redesigned to just be an elf in the remake, an armadillo man in steampunk styled power armor, a wolf man they call a werewolf but you never see a human form to him, and a married birdfolk couple. The remake added in a beetle man as well.

  • neocatzon

    That MC description.
    First paragraph is depressing.
Second paragraph reflected in his clothing.

    from idea factory int.forum.

    “Idea Factory International intends to
focus its ongoing licensing and publishing activities primarily on
titles that will appeal to the most hard-core gamers within the JRPG
niche of the North American and European game markets. As such, this
first title, Monster Monpiece, is an important test case for us and the
final results will weigh significantly towards our decisions regarding
    future titles for these markets.”

here you go,if monster monpiece flop, moero chronicle is gonna be hard.

    • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 禍津水樹

Fairy Fencer F flopped in Japan, I don’t see that releasing overseas

It’s a great game but that delay it had put it up against the behemoth Pokemon that sold 2 million units, also Danganronpa did well

      Never recovered

      • dark-kyon

fairy fencer f sell 73,696 in his first week only and got sold out,to me is not a flop.is a given what if monster monpiece do good in NA,EU the next risky game what nis america and xseed do not want to bring can be moero chronocles.

        • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 禍津水樹

For what Compile Heart hoped to do with the game it flopped

They said they were making a JRPG for Japanese gamers which was a bold statement yet it didn’t prove to be a success

        • Dylan Anantha

Considering Monpiece is a censored version of a fanservice-heavy game, and is a mobile port of a card battle game, being released on an actual console instead of mobile devices, I really don’t see Monpiece selling.

          • Landale

About the only thing you got right was that the english release is being censored a bit.

      • Ladius

Fairy Fencer didn’t flop at all in Japan, in fact it’s one of the most successful Compile Heart games ever (if not the most successful). There’s no reason to presume they aren’t happy with that game’s sales, nor have they said anything like that.

        • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 禍津水樹

Compile Hearts most successful IP is Hyperdimension Neptunia…

          • Ladius

Look at the Japanese sales figures and you will see that Fairy Fencer F’s debut was better than any Neptunia game released so far, albeit by a small margin.

    • Nickie

With the censorship decision I think they lost some sales but we shall see.

    • chibiwall

Censorship is a bad matter, but don’t get those games is worst… i’ll buy it and I hope they’ll localize this too

  • Pheria

I would love to get this, but since it isn’t out yet I guess it’s pretty difficult to tell how import friendly it is eh?

  • laurenhiya21

I wonder if Leche is actually supposed to be a monster girl… I mean, those claws and ears are just a hat.
Anyways I hope it’s good, since I could always go for more dungeon crawlers :>

  • Dragard Kaos

Fun fact: Leche means “milk” in Spanish.

    • Eric Harris

I know, I was gonna create a tauren female in wow named Leche.

      • Shady Shariest

        … Paladin Tauren naimed Leche
        = Holy Cow Milk… :< Genius.

    • Morningstar

And with that I will then assume that that the will be cock full of innuendos and etrendes than

  • Eric Harris

How many will be censored? (just getting ahead of myself here).

  • http://danierc-polloconpapas.tumblr.com/ Eduardo Rocha

Really hope this and Exstetra get released in english sooner or later! :S

    • Renaldi Saputra

extetra isn’t going to be localized by xseed, but let’s see if atlus or aksys are willing to do it

      • http://danierc-polloconpapas.tumblr.com/ Eduardo Rocha

        What about Nis America?

        • Renaldi Saputra

maybe not for now or never
bcos they have a lot to do

  • icecoffemix

So the protagonist is a stupid total pushover coward, wear short pants and wield giant vibrator as his weapon.

    Sounds legit.

    • DyLaN

A lot of the Moero Chronicle article didn’t mention that the MC timidness is due to his perverted nature which makes him afraid to talk to girls since it might scare them off.

      • icecoffemix

I mean his legitimacy as a great protagonist, not this article accuracy, just to be clear.

So he’s also perverted? Guess Sugita will be the true star of the game then (then again why would I even expect good writing for this kind of game? lol)

    • kaotron

wow, I thought the short-shorts on him looked weird but seriously, a vibrator sword? And what’s with monster girls nowadays? are they the new otaku trend or something, did tsundere loli’s get old?

      • icecoffemix

        ?

This isn’t even that bizzare, these are just cheap cosplay with animal ears/tail compared to real thing.

You don’t want to delve too deep if this is enough to make you uncomfortable though, just a friendly advice. :P

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

That type of protagonist is becoming normal for harem animes and some games :/

      • icecoffemix

I see the opposite happening lately though, invincible can do anything protagonist popping out left and right, some decently written some are just self-insert.

  • Renaldi Saputra

    monster girls, ehh?

  • DyLaN

    http://www.compileheart.com/moe-chro/#/character
More characters with voice clips. Otton VA is Sugita btw.

    http://www.compileheart.com/moe-chro/#/system
The rubbing system is back! It seems like it had to do with the symbol on top of the MG head.

  • Morningstar

So what are the odds of NISA, Atlus, Capcom or SEGA localizing this game?

    • Landale

The only companies I can think of that have localized Idea Factory games are NISA, Aksys, a couple random companies that dropped off the face of the earth, and now Idea Factory themselves. So for most of your list, I’d say pretty damn low.

    • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

IFI if Monster Monpiece do well, i would like to see another S***storm when they sensor Io dildo sword.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

…….that’s a monster girl? no this is a monster girl

The protagonist….his weapon..he must play alot of saints row

    • Landale

That’s not really a monster girl, so much as it is an anglerfishesque monster.
Admittedly the girls present in this game, so far, barely qualify as there’s not a lot of attempt at moving away from a lot of human elements.
Lilia’s feet are clawed, which is about the only thing really moving her past simply applying animal ears and tail. Leche’s concealing her head and hands in that weird outfit, so beyond the tail it’s hard to say how catlike she even really is. Koko is, well I don’t know what’s up with her. Then there’s the fairy, medusa, succubus, and yukionna; Easily enough done, as they’re already typically humanoid monsters, but incredibly plain. The sahagin could use some indication of scaliness, otherwise her design seems more in line with an Undine, either way a passable monster girl. The mandragora’s a bit disappointing, usually the legs seem more rootlike than leglike, but the vine hair is an interesting touch. The golem seems more like just a chick in armor at first glance, the impossible attachment on the head as well as the slightly off design to the hands and feet being all that seems off about her.
Moving on to the enemy designs, for the most part they seem to fall pretty flat too. Scylla is very nicely done though, her hair isn’t really hair at all, some of it is actually tentacles and some of it is actually what leads into the wolf heads. The dragon is decent too as some of the apparent clothing seems to be elaborate scale designs.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

        *joking*

        • Landale

I find it easier to just assume everything not blatantly a joke to be serious.

  • Yan Zhao

I still hate the protagonist’s (lack of) pants :(
