I still don’t like the art style the game uses. I get they’re doing it on purpose to look like a children’s story book. Doesn’t make me hate it any less though.

    • rurifan

Your username is amusingly appropriate for that sentiment . :)

    • Göran Isacson

Out of curiosity, what is it about that you hate? Is it just that it’s designed to look like a children’s story book, or is there something specific about the look that you dislike, such as coloration, lighting, environment design?

      • brostar

It’s just the whole art style. All of it. I just don’t like story book look to it. Does not look visually appealing to me.

        • Göran Isacson

Ah, gotcha. As a follow up question- do you think there would have been a style that would have been sort of true to the spirit of the game, that of fantasy and a child going on an adventurous quest BESIDE the fairy tale look that you would have liked? I’m asking because I think that this style is pretty much the best way to merge artstyle with the tone of the story and that it really fits the game, and can’t really think of a way that it could have been done “better”, so to speak. Would you perhaps have preferred something more akin to Skyrim for realism, or anime ala Tales of, or maybe something like a Disney movie etc etc?

  • Izzy Miyake

Loving the art style, can’t wait for this title to come out. Day 1 buy!

I’ll just call the firefly Iggy.

Can’t wait for this. So much crafting and skills to choose from. I’d love for a pre-order bonus of the game soundtrack.

  • Astromime

The art style looks so great. Its nice to have a game not going for realism.

    • hazelnut1112

As well as a game trying too hard to copy Skyrim.

      • Cephrien

        – I don’t understand how this copies Skyrim in any way.

        • hazelnut1112

Meaning how the majority of people see an RPG now and mention Skyrim in any way shape or form like if they know what they are talking about. Even though SKyrim was most likely their first RPG.

Vanillaware meets Bastion meets Final Fantasy? It’s so /on/!

  • GodLikesSnacks

This looks pretty nice! I love turn-based rpg games, especially jrpgs!

  • rurifan

The game looks great, although I’m not a huge fan of the “hero + monster helper” mechanic. Companions with personality are more fun.

  • Judgephoenix

Imagination sometimes people have them. They clearly have it. Wonder who the Dev is.

  • neocatzon

This and Valiant Hearts hooked me from the art style alone. Since it’s rare for ubisoft pulling this move, can’t be hurt to look forward for.

  • Tom_Phoenix

In recent times, there’s been a resurgence of turn-based games in the West. Most of them are Kickstarter stuff, but now we’re even seeing turn-based games from big publishers. It’s….quite refreshing, I must say.

    • NorsonWood

imho,turn-based combat involves much more thinking than real time rpgs(spamming buttons until enemies die), it puts more focuses on tactics to strangle your enemy while buffing your own parties. Stun, paralyze, sleep, attack up, defense down, weakness, immunity, those are more important than ever. I like the resurgence of turn-based games because it means that more ppl would prefer a battle of wits now.
Oh and, one more thing: Turn based Boss battles are the best!!

  • KingGunblader

    Yes. YESS!

I was originally gonna get it on PS3, not knowing it was on Wii U, but I guess it is, so yay!

  • Sentsuizan_93

    Promising. Very promising. :)

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    So beautiful

  • surakian

This game looks gorgeous. It had me the second we saw that first cam video of it last year. Really hope Ubisoft makes more games with UbiArt Framework. The engine has so much potential to make wonderful games outside of this and Rayman.

  • Suriel Cruz

    Beautiful.
Rayman Legends artstyle is worth the try in another genre.
    Can’t wait!

  • WyattEpp

Oh my, that’s interesting. Really curious about the mechanics, too.

  • Happy Gamer

This is so my kind of game wow.

  • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

This looks pretty awesome looking, the first RPG for PS4.

  • wererat42

I thought this was a Vanillaware game when I first saw it.

    • Go2hell66

it looks good but thats pushing it a bit

  • artemisthemp

Looking forward to playing this title :)

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I am so hyped for this game here. And boy, the music sounds so good.

With Bravely Default and this, it seems turn based rpg still have a good future to be seen.^_^(SMT 4 is also a greattttttt turn rpg.^_^)

  • Clairis Cannon

This looks really cool! I’m looking forward to it now

  • Sergio Briceño

This is one of those games I know I’d have fun just watching somebody else play.

  • Tincho Kudos

If this game turns to be good (which it seems to be the case) we should support ubisoft.
That aside, this game looks amazing.

  • sakusakusakura_nyo

This game looks great, can’t go wrong for $15. Hopefully it’s a long game and not something that can be beaten in one day.

  • Kitestwinblades

Every time I see this it reminds me of Battle Princess of Arcadias! xD
I’m excited for both games but this looks so much more dynamic! Ubisoft nailing the art direction yet again.
