Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes PS4 Is The First Limited Edition PlayStation 4

By Sato . February 16, 2014 . 11:11pm

Just in case a neat cassette case-style smartphone stand isn’t enough to entice Japanese players looking forward to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Konami and Sony have revealed that the very first limited edition PlayStation 4 will be the “Fox Edition” with a Ground Zeroes theme.

The PlayStation 4 Fox Edition has the iconic FOX Engine icon on the side of the console, and will come bundled with a copy of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, for a total of 46,980 yen in Japan when it hits stores on March 20th.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be released on March 18th in North America for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Meh. Doesn’t look as cool as the Vita’s and 3DS’s

  • ShinTekk

Stinks for MGS fans that are looking forward to this but already have a PS4. Just imagine all the crying that is about to ensue, since they can’t get one.

    • Bio438

Huge metal gear fan but this ps4 looks so bad. Something like making it have the pattern of a metal gear would be cool but making it look like some DIY paint job is rather disappointing.

  • Namuro

Eh… It doesn’t look that good. I understand that the design has to be kept within the divided frames of the console. But it just looks like a sticker being slapped on. Maybe the actual thing will look really good, I dunno.

Also, I wish Yoji Shinkawa could do the box art…

Boy, I’m complaining a lot today.

Looks like you’re paying for a golden stencil of the FOX logo and the game title on the PS4. This special edition looks rather lackluster.

      • DanielGearSolid

I mean… Its not that much more expensive than buying a ps4 and the game separately so yea… I would say you are just paying for the stencil

    • Shippoyasha

The design isn’t anything that great but the actual price of the package kind of irked me too. It’s the same as a PS4’s normal price + a game (a full priced game at that, not some $40 equivalent). It’s incredibly pricey. I was hoping for something that cuts down on the price a little bit on the side if the limited edition is so bare bones like this.

I guess the system isn’t old enough where we can expect some price consious limited edition consoles.

      • Namuro

Stuff for early adopters are always like that, unfortunately. It’s down to the buyers to justify what worths more between the price, or the right to show off. LOL

    • The Watcher

Looks better than that basic italicised black PS4

  • I hope they do another one for the phantom pain.

    These a Yakuza one too.

    • Namuro

      Wow, that’s pretty sick!

But…I really hope that they won’t keep to this style; where it seems like they can only put in the design on the small, top frame.

Speaking of which, this is still my favorite limited edition console. I’m still regretting it to this day that I couldn’t become the owner of one… orz

  • Sav

lol both are crap, yakuza one is a little better but still.

    way to fail sony.

  • Shippoyasha

Holy crap. I must run outside and buy a new Kia ASAP.

  • Happy Gamer

I was super stoked for the ps3 bundle because it was 80gb and also still backwards compatible. This bundle doesn’t do the justification for me to really get it :( which makes me sad because almost all SONY products I got were some sort of bundles and I mainly bought it for: FF series (not so much anymore), MGS and the exclusives.

I could def wait a bit longer for a better bundle but I am def picking up MGS titles.

I am hoping Destiny has a bundle.

  • DanielGearSolid

I was hoping for gun metal again, since I was too poor to get the Gun Metal Ps3
