Muramasa Rebirth’s Second DLC Episode, A Cause To Daikon For, Set For Next Week

By Spencer . February 19, 2014 . 5:17pm

mrebirth Aksys will release the second downloadable episode for Muramasa Rebirth on February 25 in North America and February 26 in Europe. Cleverly titled A Cause to Daikon For, this Genroku Legends story follows a farmer who joins a rebellion against Governor Hatono’s unfair taxes. Speaking with Siliconera, producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto said this Muramasa Rebirth character was inspired by Harvest Moon.

Each character in Genroku Legends has their own fighting style. Being a farmer, Gonbe uses tools like a hoe and a sickle. He’s also joined by his ghostly wife that can lift him places and other famer friends. Vanillaware also made new bosses for A Cause to Daikon For and you can also fight a couple of bosses from Muramasa Rebirth with Gonbe.

Oh god that pun, it hurts more then the bosses themselves

  • Ric Vazquez

Bought the first DLC and will also buy this one, worth it.

    Price?

    • TheExile285

It’ll probably be $5 again like the first DLC

Thanks for the info (can’t access NA psn for now)

  • TheExile285

    Woot! Loved the first DLC.

  • cyberkinghardy

Though I love the first DLC, why is the character in the 2nd DLC an old man with a big red nose? Damn now I’m hesitating.

    • Duo Maxwell

Why not? Admittedly I didn’t interest in him at first, but after watching the trailer, the 2nd DLC is on my must buy list. Look freaking interesting, and that ghost waifu.

    • z_merquise

We’ve seen so many attractive looking protagonists, this one is a nice change even just for once. Plus the character look fun to play and the story is interesting too.

      • Aoshi00

It’s like papa Nier, he doesn’t need to be attractive as long as the story has heart, definitely nice for a change, Muramasa has lots of good looking chars alrdy.. plus there’s ghost waifu in the hot spring :) these chapters for Muramasa and Left Behind for the Last of Us, this is the kind of DLC I like, substantially adding to the story :)

        • z_merquise

For me, it’s one of examples of “DLC done right”.

        • MaximDualBlade

Papa Nier was a true man. I’m sure Gonbe is too, but I have yet to play his story

      • katamari damacy

The DLC was awesome, unique, self-contained and had a happy feel good ending.

  • lluksavahc

Have they fixed the bug for the first dlc? I been meaning to get it but I want to finish the main story and since i dont have plus at the moment my save file is stuck in the cloud :/.

    • KuroNathan

which bug are you talking about?

      • Landale

Basically it killed almost all speech and sound effects to the main game. The minimal amounts of sound actually kind of made it a bit more awesome, just also kind of weird when you’re used to there being more than that.

        • KuroNathan

I don’t think I’ve seen that glitch, but a few weeks ago they patched the dlc so maybe that fixed it?

          • Landale

Yeah, the bug was only around for a week or two, they got on it quickly.

    • TheExile285

yep, they fixed the sound bug and added text for when Okoi is eating stuff

      • Aoshi00

Great it’s finally fixed, I actually didn’t finish the main quest yet (on the Wii, not on Vita) but couldn’t wait to play Nekomata. The bosses were pretty challenging, had to listen to Okoi’s eating comments intently too since there was no sub before lol. Can’t wait for this DLC.

        • TheExile285

That 2nd boss is a piece of work. Even the final boss in the DLC is significantly easier orz

          • z_merquise

But the final boss fight for Okoi is really great. It’s like those rival boss fights in Devil May Cry or in Bayonetta. The boss is just the same size as you, fight aggressively and can combo you to no end if you’re wide open.

That fight really keeps you on toes especially in Chaos mode (hard difficulty).

          • TheExile285

I agree. That boss is fun.

          • AkuLord3

UGH that 2nd Boss…challenging and a pain…almost died to him and yeah final boss was easy compare to it but damn its still so epic

          • Aoshi00

yeah, the 2nd boss was epic and hard.. the 1st one too, I died like 3 times and was wondering how many forms it had :( but so satisfying when I finally beat him, he got balls lol..

      • lluksavahc

Awesome, thanks. I guess i can get this two dlcs and continue the others when i get back on plus.

  • Firion Hope

I just started replaying the main game on fury mode, cant wait to try out the DLC with it

  • z_merquise

The Nekomata DLC is really worthy and lenghty DLC. For just $5, you can get a new character with very unique moves and playstyle, a huge skill/upgrade tree specific for that character, a whole new story, new bosses, new music and even a special artwork that can be use as a Vita wallpaper.

Now I look forward to this one.

    • BizarreJelly

Wow that good huh? I was gonna pass on Rebirth cuz I have the original on Wii but these DLCs sound too good to pass up on.

      • pixxxelz

I have the original too and trust me is worth it

      • http://www.facebook.com/jefriputra Jeff

i got my new vita slim just to play this DLC, it was reallly good XD

    • Aoshi00

I wish once all the 4 new DLC chapters are out, they would release a separate soundtrack for it, the Daikon trailer has a very nice ending song. Wait, there’s special artwork that could be used as Vita wallpaper how :)? I’ve been using only the Persona 4 ones all this time lol..

Definitely DLC done right, meaningful and makes you appreciate the game more after beating it, not things held back or dozens of costumes :)

      • z_merquise

In the first DLC, there are 2 endings. Unlocking the 2nd ending will also reveal an artwork after the credits roll. I took a screenshot of it the time it was shown and I used it as my wallpaper.

        • Landale

I’m using that one too. Hopefully this one has a nice picture for finishing it as well.

        • Aoshi00

nice.. I don’t think I’d be able to get the true ending, too lazy to beat the rest of the bosses after finishing the story lol.

      • Christopher Nunes

What was the name of the music for the Nekomata trailer? I quite liked the beat in that one.

    • crimsonidol

The artwork is great. But personally I prefered the first ending a little more. Would have wished for a nice wallpaper with the cats. :D

  • pixxxelz

The first dlc was great, I’m expecting the same greatness from this one.
    Bring it on Aksys

  • buddyluv324

Loved the 1st DLC. I cant wait to buy this one day 1 along with the rest of the DLC!

  • Nanajana

I’ve burnt myself 100% clearing Nekomata DLC. I think I’ll give it a bit more time before I jump onto this one.

But super awesome for Aksys for a speedy release!!

  • gogogoldberg

Is it a coincidence that the DLC’s protagonist looks like Ikki?

  • Gattai

Yesss finally!!! Been waiting for it for like ages I just hope the rest of the muramasa DLC would come out faster tough :(

  • Jaeger Knighty

    Finally, ghost waifu time.

  • Ardus

This game alone makes me want a vita so bad.

  • Aqua King

“A couple bosses from Muramasa Rebirth” or ALL bosses? Why only a couple?

  • leingod

Next week! NICE. I’m loving the cat DLC, and this one looks just as wild.
