Nintendo Bundling Wii U With Wii Sports Club In Japan

Nintendo has a new Wii U bundle for Japan coming on March 27. The Instant Play Sports Premium set includes a white Wii U with 32 GB of storage plus Wii Sports Club (Bowling, Golf, and Tennis) preinstalled, a Wii remote plus, and sensor bar for 30,000 yen.

While Nintendo packaged the Wii with Wii Sports in the West, they didn’t use this strategy in Japan. Wii Sports was sold as a separately and Japanese Wiis did not include any games at launch. Will be interesting to see if this can spark console sales in Japan.

Thats not the bundle we’re all waiting for.

Nintendo seems to think that they’ll be able to sell as many WiiU’s as Wiis if they do the exact same thing again.

God knows why. It’s like they’re perpetually drunk.

This is going to do exactly diddlysquat for the Wii U. Wii Sports was a great game, but part of the reason it succeeded was that not only it filled a void that was left unfilled for MANY years, it showed off what the Wii’s motion controls could do. By comparison, not only is this a port, but it doesn’t really do anything that one couldn’t already experience on the Wii.

I think Wii Sports Club might be a better game to bundle than Nintendoland… but it’s barely a Wii U game; including both games would have been a better idea imo… not that i think any of these options could improve the sales of Wii U…
