Bandai Namco Games will release Dark Souls II for PC on April 25, about a month after the dark fantasy game is released for consoles.

Dark Souls II for PC will have four times higher graphic resolution and will run at 60 frames per second, says Bandai Namco. From Software has been working on adapting the controls for mouse and keyboard players.

Dark Souls II will be available on Steam. Bandai Namco also plans to release a collector’s edition which includes the Black Armor Weapon DLC set, a Dark Souls II t-shirt, art book, and a cloth map.

Update: A representative for Bandai Namco Games says this limited edition is only for Southeast Asia regions including Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Just one month after the console versions? Ehm. In that case, I suppose I can wait.

    • Eilanzer

      I can´t =S

      • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

They haven’t denied it, it’s not necessarily fake or wrong.

        • Fox

It’s not necessarily fake, but it IS wrong.

          25. April is closer to 2-months after the console release (11. March).

          • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

It’s only wrong if the game doesn’t come out on the 25th and we know the PC version has been delayed so 2 months would be nothing outrageous.

  • oaky

    Thanks for the source, Siliconera!

    Not.

  • DesmaX

    Whooo, 60 FPS!

I’ll wait for this version then. Too many things to buy in March, anyway

  • Eilanzer

i just HOPE that this time the game will not use game for windows live…a decent connection and playable controls for pc…the rest can stay the same…

    • malek86

It’s Steamworks. GFWL is closing this July, so they couldn’t have used it anyway.

    • Ferrick

      windows live is shutting down

    • DesmaX

GFWL is shutting down soon, actually.

Anyway, I wonder what will happen to saves of the first Dark Souls on PC’s now

      • Eilanzer

don´t matter i guess, because the online service will be down…so only single player =/

        • Ferrick

pretty sure that they’re moving servers to steam as they did with ace combat ass horizon

  • RobbertBobbertson

    Need source

  • flameraver64

Hm, maybe I should try this out. Never played Dark Souls, but heard good things, and I WOULD enjoy a new PC game.

    • Ferrick

you might need a controller for pc though, just in case the M+K controls aren’t that great

  • You Schmuck!

Namco has now responded about the release date, they have not announced anything yet https://twitter.com/namcogames/status/439488380037263361

    • RobbertBobbertson

      Edit: apparantly i was wrong.
still, this article needs a source.

      • You Schmuck!

It wasn’t deleted, seems it just moved a bit, scroll up.

      • Ferrick

dude, your eyesight is trash -.-

  • Spirit Macardi

See Namco, people like it when you bring GOOD games to PC. So enough with the Pac-Man Museums and more of games like this please.

  • Tinkererer

    Cool source, Siliconera.

  • ragingmerifes

Waiting more than a month to play a 5 hours-long game. Hm.

    • Ferrick

source on this 5 hours ?

      • ragingmerifes

My average playtime to finish DeS and DaS.

        • MyBodyIsReady

Five hours for an average playthrough? Pffft

          • ragingmerifes

If you don’t spend time grinding or exploring to find rare items like I did, it will probably be like that for anyone.

          • Elijah Quigley

Yeah, if you just jump from boss to boss will-nilly, but if you’re going to do that why play at all?

          • 하세요

Some enjoy to just speedrun games.

        • Ferrick

          ahh, that makes sense

    • http://nabe.kokidokom.net/ Cybersteel

      5 hours?

    • tubers

Well, I remember DkS being a 1 hour game if you competently do a speedrun..

It’s not a big deal with the franchise.

    • Geoffrey Davey

I can guarantee that you wont beat Dark Souls 2 in 5 hours. I have about 400 hours on DemS and DarkS1 combined.

      • ragingmerifes

Well, I have 400 hours in MGS2, but that doesn’t mean the game itself is that long.

        • Geoffrey Davey

For sure. I was just trying to put your mind at ease regarding the length.

    • bloodiOS

      Does it really matter?

    • Muadiib

I hope you are kidding, Dark Souls 1 was at least a 60 hour game and the sequel is confirmed to be at least as big, although of cos you could easily spend hundreds of hours in the game. It’s probably the richest, deepest, most epic and feature rich game I have ever played outside of an mmo.

    • Eilanzer

You will NOT speedrun on your first playtrough if you get the game day one…You just can´t no matter how much you think you are pro ¬¬

      • ragingmerifes

I’m not a pro. I didn’t speedrun. I just played the game as an RPG and not a hack ‘n’ slash. Seriously, the games are not long.

  • pressstart

60 fps? Weaksauce! It better support at least 120fps. Hell, just make it uncapped like Team Fortress 2 or any other PC game.

    • Mar Mar

Most probably they don’t know 120fps and 144fps exist. And you can just hook up PS3 controller to your PC with MotionInJoy and Better DS3 Tool. Works flawlessly with Castlevania LoS2

  • tubers

“From Software has been working on adapting the controls for mouse and keyboard players.”

Wish they’d at least let us remap skills/items/weapons with the keyboard numbers.

That could possibly break the game and make it much easier tho but it seems practical for a keyboard setting.

  • MrRobbyM

Well, apparently this is fake but the release date sounds about right. I think the end of May will be the absolute latest for the PC release.

I don’t expect them to announce the PC date until right before or right after the console release.

  • Ngolem

    My heart can’t take this

  • Crevox

If it’s really gonna be a month after, that hurts…

  • shuyai

-_- why 60 FPS? i mean i understand if it is console but – actually why is there a fps cap at all?

geez cant decide if i want pc or console i mean i cant wait for it to release and play but pc version is better but is 1 month late

  • Thom Gibson

The JP official page says that the PC version is coming on March (just check that there is a 2014 – 3 in the PC release date). This is probably fake.

  • Miguel Azevedo

This is not confirmed by Namco Bandai in anyway so do yourselfs a favor and scrap this Rumor!

  • Miguel Azevedo

Rumor! This is not the actual release date, since Namco did not confirm this in any way!

  • Tu’Ron Wolf Jamison

For the few that say it is going to be ‘capped’ at 60 FPS, it does not say that specifically in the article. We all know the console version is sure as hell not going to run at 60, but 30 just like the original DkS. If they’re making a version specifically for PC, what’s stopping them from going beyond 60? (Other than the online portion of it, which would be most of the game if not all of it…)

    ……

Ok, yeah. It’ll probably be capped. Too bad this is a fake date.

  • David Durso

Am I the only one who feels a little butt hurt that instead of the awesome warrior knight statue pc players get a T-Shirt seems kinda like a cop-out

  • mattreX

It must be a fake one, the image is photoshoped. I don’t think that I’ve ever heard of “Black Amour Edition” :D

  • Suzaku Kururugi

    Nice update! Still fake.

  • krow

Anyone knows who in Thailand will be selling it?

  • spd39th
  • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

So. Who wants to apologize? You can start forming a queue now. ;)

    • oaky

Siliconera STILL posted a news article without a source, and this very article was denied within hours by Bandai Namco themselves. Who do you think people are going to trust? Siliconera?

In the end, we had to wait for official word by Bandai Namco, so this whole article was pointless to begin with. You can prevent this by simply providing sources in the future.

      Cheers.

  • JMaster3000

I don’t care the wait just the optimization needs to good…. really good this time…
