Rumor: Freedom Wars Will Be Released Sometime Around June

By Sato . March 3, 2014 . 4:30pm

Japanese gamers will get a first taste of Freedom Wars when Soul Sacrifice Delta comes out on March 6. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia’s highly anticipated multiplayer co-op is scheduled to come out this summer and according to recent rumors, it appears as though the game might be released in early summer, according to Game Jouhou.

The rumor comes from a Japanese book distributor called mangaoh,  after having listed a strategy guide for Freedom Wars on June 12th, 2014, which also happens to land on a Thursday, the day games are typically released in Japan.

Additionally, the website has marked the publisher of the book to be Shueisha, the same company that publishes Weekly Shonen Jump and other video game strategy guides. Shueisha’s game guides are also often released simultaneously as the game. Even if the game doesn’t release on the same day as its guide book, if the date is accurate, then we can expect it to be around the same time.

While no dates is set in stone at the moment, SCEJA previously announced that Freedom Wars will be released sometime in summer 2014.

If only it could get a simultaneous release…

  • Zer0faith

Great! Now about that localization announcement…

    • Shiki

Sony better give this to us. First party support, c’mon! With dual audio or Japanese dub only please!

      • TheDarkEmpress

If Japanese audio is that important to you go learn the language brah….

        • Shiki

You haven’t done any research about this game, have you. This game has intricate speech synthesis with the AIs, which won’t make it into our localized version. I personally want all the features the game is supposed to have, instead of removing it for a western audience.

          • tubers

Wait, is there actually confirmation it won’t come? I’ve been following the game a lot and at best I remember someone only speculating.

I’d appreciate a link Thanks in advance.

I would’ve still been able to appreciate “broken English” with the Japanese voice synthesizer.

          • TheDarkEmpress

You want the features? Learn the language.

          • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Yes, in addition to working full time and having some semblance of social Life people should separate a few hours a day to learn a language to play videogames because companies don’t localize just everything. Your logic is lacking in logic~.

          • TheDarkEmpress

I’m glad you were able to get that off your chest. I’ve yet to see you offer anything constructive to the argument at hand: Complaining about your games not having a language you don’t understand anyway just because it sounds better to you as opposed to perhaps taking the time to understand it if it’s truly that meaningful to you. No, instead you come in here spouting nonsense about things being illogical when you yourself are probably the largest hypocrite here, “Juan”. Quite certain you’re bilingual, seems rather foolish to criticize a semi-sarcastic suggestion so seriously now, huh?

          • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Pot, kettle, black about the hypocrite comment. Your “suggestion” wasn’t constructive in the least. The fact you said it was semi sarcastic already outlines constructive was the last thing on your mind when you stated it~.

No, it’s not foolish. What is foolish is comparing the English language curve to the Japanese one. English is probably the easiest language to learn. Japanese is probably one of, if not the, hardest and most demanding. No person with an already scheduled Life should have to be told that they should learn Japanese instead of being disappointed companies don’t take risks in localizing games~.

            The mere thought is inane~.

And by the way, my name is Juan. No need to use “”s~.

          • KidArk

You haven’t done any research on this game have you? Instead of relying on what other people think might happen why not just research yourself? The voice recognition DOES support English .

        • Kumiko Akimoto

It wouldn’t be a problem if most dubs were american game quality but it’s not. I shouldn’t have to settle for bad acting. Sorry, not sorry.

          • TheDarkEmpress

            Then learn the superior “langrage”.

Seriously, so much complaining and yet no one will do anything about it. If it’s that much better and you appreciate it that much more then take the time to learn it, then you’ll have access to essentially every game you’d ever want and you wouldn’t have to wait for localization.

Oh, and to really top things off…you wouldn’t have to complain about dubs anymore! >=3

          • Kumiko Akimoto

It has nothing to do with which one is superior to the other, If it’s ok to complain about bad acting in movies why wouldn’t it be ok to complain about bad acting in games?
I don’t want to cut out the middle man,I want the middle man to try,

          • darke

I am. I buy games with dual language; Japanese audio and English subs, to help improve my language skills. Eventually once my language skills level up enough, I’ll be able to just play most of my games from my Japanese PSN account.

Sadly for the moment I still have to deal with people complain about having the option of Japanese audio with English subtitles is somehow a bad thing.

I’m sure there are equally close-minded people who don’t wish to help language learners practice, who exist on the Japanese game forums complaining about English voices with Japanese subs, but I’ll deal with them eventually.

  • Roberto

    Hope is true

  • MyBodyIsReady

I’ve been so hyped for this game ever since they announced 8 player co-op, PVP and a customisable android buddy. The hookshot looks sweet too

  • Kazekage Gaara

    ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ HYPE! ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

  • Kaetsu

And then a fall-winter release for the rest of the world right?

  • Lilith

I thought this was but now I’m not sure. Is this a MH-like game?

    • Arcana Drill

is this a hunting genre game? yes.
Explaining simply is “MH-like game” with a dystopia setting with giant monsters and the ability to use a whip to grab things and swing yourself.

    • Serge

Almost every Vita games are MH-like. You should buy one.

      • Lilith

        I have one..

        • Serge

Then you and me can have all the Monster Hunter likes. : )

  • Freud_Hater

Would SOMEONE in America pick this game up and localize it, for Christ’s sake??!!

    • Arcana Drill

this is a Sony game, if localized, it will be by themselves.

      • Freud_Hater

I do pray that they do, then… Oh how I pray…

        • Kaetsu

Sony isn’t going to miss the opportunity to help the vita’s sales in the west plus almost every Japan Studio game has come to NA/EU.

  • Lemski07

marked. Its like almost every month I’m fully booked on buying different games on different platforms. thaaat backlog thou,

  • Good, good (rubs hands together). If this is true hopefully we’ll be getting that localization announcement sometime soon too.

  • ThatGuy3190_7

Light Yagami is back to shoot guns and take more names.

  • Renaldi Saputra

maybe if GE2 eventually don’t get localized, I might switch into this :/

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Seeing as how they skipped on bringing the One Piece game to the PSV even though they brought the PS3 version over [and OP right now is kind of a milking franchise, meaning it’d sell decent] chances are we aren’t going to see GE2 in the West~.

      • Renaldi Saputra

and what they did with the latest Gundam Musou series proves more

        • Kumiko Akimoto

          Gundam never comes over

          • Renaldi Saputra

Gundam Musou series did, bcos it’s a 3rd party game

      • Kumiko Akimoto

Why wouldn’t they bring over a monster hunter like game over a dumb anime game?

        • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Monster Hunter games have less appeal in the West over over hyped anime games. If you can’t see the pattern that’s your problem~.

          • Renaldi Saputra

anime games? I don’t see them being over hyped, except major shounen genre for example dragon ball naruto one piece

          • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

…you just agreed with me. The point was that if One Piece [which you admit is an over hyped anime game wise] didn’t make it to the PSV, GE2 has no chances since the interest in the genre in the West isn’t that predominant despite Kumiko’s misinformed thoughts on the matter~.

          • Renaldi Saputra

            oh, yes I understand now

          • Kumiko Akimoto

Over hyped anime games that are only over hyped in the anime circle, monster hunter is popular series and we are still getting monster hunter games and the monster like games that come out.

    • Kaien

      We’re getting GE2 Burst.

      I hope so.

      • Renaldi Saputra

nope, I have much doubt unfortunately..
Bandai Namco western has no love for PS Vita anymore..

  • awat

sure does look like some epic game, and i read they spent 3 years developing it!? must be a pretty neat game Western Release please

  • Furu Chi

Wait.. is this co-op multiplayer only? Or you can play singleplayer aswell?

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

It’s a SP game much like MH, SS, GEB, GE2, and so on and so forth except that the MP is actually designed to be more than just four people bashing monsters together~.

      • Furu Chi

Oh okay. Thanks for clearing that up :D
