Bandai Namco Games America announced One Piece Unlimited World Red will be released in the West and on even more platforms. In Japan, the game was a Nintendo 3DS exclusive. One Piece Unlimited World Red will be available for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 3 plus Wii U and PlayStation Vita as a digital release.

It appears that developer Ganbarion is polishing One Piece Unlimited World Red. On 3DS and Vita, One Piece Unlimited World Red will have local multiplayer for up to four players. The PS3 and Wii U versions will have split screen gameplay for two players.

One Piece Unlimited World Red is slated for release later this year.

    Awesome dood!

  • Malon

    I’m glad it’s getting a multi-support release!
I’m getting it for Vita, since two sticks seem much more convenient for this kind of game.

    • British_Otaku

I respect your choice but the game worked perfectly fine without the second analog stick (using L to focus the camera, lock and such) and I foresee a huge amount of clutter on the screen when they squeeze in the quick item select buttons on the touch screen (or I suppose the D-Pad could work) or decide to put the map somewhere…

      Otherwise, I foresee inconvenience.

I do expect all of them to work pretty good though.

    • kthanxyousuck

That’s hard to say when this game was technically designed originally for 3ds….

  • Keiji Johnson

Really? No online multiplayer? Well at least we’re actually getting it here in the states. I really wasn’t expecting it to get localized really, and the fact that it’s getting a multi platform release is certainly the most unexpected.

    • DarthSithZero

      Now the problem is …

Which version should I get…? Better graphics or Portability?

      • JMaster3000

If you had a Vita then the Vita version would be the best for you.
But i guess you only have Nintendo consoles, so Wii U or 3DS…. hmmm…. get the one on which u play more.
I personally would get the 3DS version, i love my handhelds more than consoles.
Ohh and 3DS version is physical and Wii U is digital, one more reason for me to get 3DS version.

        • DarthSithZero

I own a PS3,PSV & 3DS, but all of my consoles gets the same love, that why it’s hard to choose.

          • Suicunesol

Usually I’m the 3DS advocate, but in this case, there don’t seem to be any unique benefits going for the 3DS version. Aside from the prettier, sharper graphics, Playstation Vita will have dual analogs for camera control. The game’s colorful style will also really pop on Playstation Vita’s big OLED screen.

For the 3DS, the bottom screen will probably have a map, which is nice. However, the game doesn’t have stereoscopic 3D, which is supposed to be a major 3DS feature.

In my opinion, this game is another reason for me to buy a Playstation Vita in the future.

There’s a chance the Wii U version might be the best version graphically, but we’ll have to wait and see about that.

          • DarthSithZero

A Cross-save could be the solution if you want to buy both version of the game.

          • Keiji Johnson

Or I could just go all-out and get all 4 versions of the game one by one.

          • JMaster3000

Then personally i would get the Vita version, the dude down below said why. PS3 would be the next and he said the reason why not the 3DS version.

          • kthanxyousuck

If you’re in the US I’d hold out on the Vita version until I knew how large this game was, since it’s download only. That would leave me to the 3DS/PS3. I own both of those and that’s just a matter of preference.

This game was made for the 3DS, so while HD graphics will look great, it’s not as if the 3DS is some crappy port. I personally love how handy the second screen for the 3DS is when it comes to organizing the map and menus for RPG’s. If this isn’t a big deal for you though, then PS3 would probably be the way to go. PS3 has trophy support which is important to a lot of people.

  • British_Otaku

Split screen multiplayer for the console versions? I suppose I’m disappointed that none of the four are getting online, but being able to play with my brother (who is still only at Skypiea) on the Wii U is still pretty dope.

Oh and I know most of the readers here in North America or have NA 3DS systems, but please mention that the game will be physical on the Vita and Wii U in Europe in the future. It can’t be that hard to mention the European one is physical on all systems, but the American one will have a digital release for two of those systems.

    • GH56734

For some reason, it seems the “world” is just the JP+US region. Europe or the rest of Asia are more of an afterthought :P

  • Slayven19

Wow it will even be 4 players now huh? Sad about no online but I don’t really care since I never expected it to be online to begin with. Guess I’ll have to get this for wiiU and 3ds.

  • Warren

These characters have gotten hella sexy! I mean its been a while but Usopp looks so sexier now, and Nami really did a great job improving her looks. Even the skeleton dude looks good in them funky clothes.

  • Arcana Drill

    Split screen… how nostalgic.
And this will be coming at retail in english?….. great!

  • DarthSithZero

The graphics looks insanely amazing!, I mean kinda looks like I’m playing the anime.

    • Kaetsu

Indeed. It looks like an HD version of Dragon Quest 8.

  • Cravia887

I am guessing these are PS3 screenshots given one of them as the playstation buttons showing. I wonder how the Wii U version will stack up since that’s the one I am getting.

    • Kaetsu

      Probably looks the same.

  • Lifestreamer

If they are polishing the game’s graphics to the same level of the cutscenes it will become gorgeous! I hope they kick up the difficulty a bit, ok, maybe I’m a bit too greedy.

  • Nitraion

Haha i so confused at first….
because i remember this game is #DS only but the news suddenly say it come to sony family even for WiiU..
    so they all are digital?

    • Arcana Drill

USA: retail for ps3 and 3ds, digital for vita and wii u.
      EU:every plataform is Retail.

      • Nitraion

==” i guess NA have little faith in Vita and WiiU
Hmm i wonder EU copy can play in my Vita Tv japan?

        • GH56734

At least the Vita version wasn’t cancelled for NA like with a previous game…

        • Wappuli

Most likely wont get an answer for that before the game is released and someone tries. Western publishers dont seem to know or even care about compatibility since Vita TV still isn’t released here.

  • Pinwheel

As great as the screenshots look for the PS3 version, I’ll reserve judgement and wait for a trailer to see if they’re bullshots or not.

Either way, I’m a little interested. I haven’t bought any One Piece games and I fell behind in the manga after a little into Punk Hazard. What’s this game got to offer?

  • Tousand

more one piece game on vita. hell yeah, instant preorder!!!

  • Baka-Juice

And just when I thought life couldn’t get any better after romance dawn, no but really shit looks so sick can’t wait!

  • Here’s hoping for cross-platform play (and cross-buy for PS3 and Vita). Not necessarily between all platforms, but allow 3DS players to play with Wii U players locally like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and also Vita players with PS3 players.

  • Pdugna

woahh wait….this has local co-op? yep totally getting it me and my friend love this kinda stuff :D

  • Dystopiq

I have a 3DS and Vita. Which should I get!? Any reviews of this online? I don’t want to buy a half assed game that is simply milking a franchise.

Also, No One Piece 3DS XL. I would have gladly dropped the 200-250 on it Just for the system itself.

    • kthanxyousuck

No one knows what the vita version looks like because it hasn’t been revealed before since this was 3DS exclusive until now.

They do have Japanese One Piece 3DS XL systems as well. If they bring them over you won’t hear about it until the game is about to release.

      • Dystopiq

Which are region locked. I’m not buying a Japanese 3DS.

        • kthanxyousuck

I never said you had to. I said in Japan they have XL versions and like the Pokemon X and Y ones were released over here, there’s a chance those could also be brought over.

          • Dystopiq

            One could hope. Who knows.

    • Jake Joe

Get the Vita if you care for trophy.

  • WhyWai

I hope the Vita version will not be watered down…

    • kthanxyousuck

How can the vita version be watered down when the only version of this game was 3DS? I doubt the console games will have many added features or different gameplay when they’re all based off the same 3DS game.

  • kthanxyousuck

Getting the 3DS version. I like the convenience of having all the stats and maps on the bottom screen. Makes the main screen less cluttered. Plus as of right now it’s my main console.

  • I’m getting this on 3DS so I can play with my friends, but damn those HD graphics are tempting…

  • E.T.993

    One Piece on Wii U!?YES!

  • jsecula

God…i hope they port the ps3 version to the Vita and not port the low res 3ds version to the vita. this is what always hurst vita games.

  • Kazekage Gaara

I am going with the 3DS version since its a retail release and because it was on the 3DS in Japan.
