One Piece Unlimited World Red For 3DS Update Will Add Law And The Coliseum

imageWhile One Piece Unlimited World Red isn’t out in the West yet, Bandai Namco Games released it for Nintendo 3DS in Japan last year. New content including a fight with Donquixote Doflamingo and Trafalgar Law as playable character when you’re in the Corrida Coliseum was announced alongside the HD versions.

The good news is if you imported One Piece Unlimited World Red you will be able to get the extra content. Ganbarion’s developer blog says that for a limited time owners of the 3DS version will be able to get the update for free via the Nintendo eShop. A release date was not announced for the update.

One Piece Unlimited World Red for Wii U, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita is scheduled for June 12 in Japan. All four versions will be released in the West later this year.

No doubt, they are money grubbing enough to put a limit on how long the 3DS buyers can get a likely minimal update (even if Dofla and Law are awesome)…

I hope the Euro and NA 3DS players get the update from the get go and that owners of the Japanese 3DS version get the update reasonably close to the HD release and with a good amount of time to download it freely.

wouldn’t there be a good chance the updated version will be already in the cart for the EU/NA 3DS versions?

      • British_Otaku

There is a good chance that the EU/NA 3DS players won’t have to pay for the update but it isn’t a given that you won’t have to download it separately.

Got the feeling that it is quite often that free additional content has to be downloaded even in later localisations, not that I have an example off the top of my head…

  • I’m willing to bet the DLC will come out at the same time or around the same time that the other consoles get the game. Also, if Japan is getting the Wii U, PS3 and Vita versions on June 12, I’m guessing around September to November for the release for the rest of the world.

From the look of the thumbnail I thought I was getting flipped off.

Man, One Piece fans are so lucky they get so many games localised, and even multi-platform releases in both US and EU. It’s quite amazing really, even Bleach never got this kind of treatment.
