Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment Takes Us Into The Heat Of Battle

By Spencer . April 9, 2014 . 11:58pm

Bandai Namco Games has a new trailer for Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment that shows Kirito in action. No we’re not talking about hand holding while running around Aincrad this time (OK there’s a little of that), we’re talking about combat.

The PlayStation Vita game has the ten weapons from the PSP game and cooperative attacks you can pull off with your partner. Speaking of partners the "Absolute Sword" Yuuki Konno is confirmed to be in Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment too.

Maybe Siliconera could help us understand if the Asian version will really have English subtitles for everything or if they are only used for the game’s menus?

There have been contrasting reports about this matter (on one hand, it’s unlikely for a game to get localized in English without a western release, on the other they explicitely stated it would have Chinese and English subtitles, and Playasia went with this explanation), and Namco hasn’t really explained in detail what they meant.

I’d love for Siliconera to actually contact Bandai Namco Taiwan, or someone from BN, and just have them say “Yes, it definitely will be in English!”
I have the game preordered but I’m worried that the Chinese press release was somehow misinterpreted. It just seems to good to be true. My excitement is tempered until I know for sure. I’m still going to import the game either way, though.

      • Ladius

I feel exactly the same. While the announcement seems too specific to be a misunderstanding, I would love some journalist to clarify this directly with Namco.

        • Kornelious

I really hope so, this game looks WAY too good to not be fully translated. I hope someone clarifys this soon…….

    • Guest

Well, the menu is english by default to emulate the anime/LN.

      cutscenes are the real issue.

  • Ryujin

That guy from the PK guild sounds like he really looks up to Date Masamune’s Engrish. :P

  • Kornelious

This looks FREAKING AWESOME! I can’t wait to get this game, I just hope the Chinese version is in FULL English….
On another note, I thought that I wouldn’t want to use anything other than Dual Swords, but they each look so awesome, I might have to experiment a bit, lol XD

  • natchu96

If they want to stay true to the LN, Yuuki-san better be OP.

  • artemisthemp
