Dragon Ball Z Fighting Game Turns Screen Swipes Into Goku’s Punches

By Spencer . April 10, 2014 . 3:45am

Bandai Namco made a Dragon Ball Z fighting game for smartphones. Instead of using a virtual d-pad, Dragon Ball: Ultimate Swipe has a simpler control scheme where you swipe the screen to punch. Buttons on the side let you shoot ki blasts and do signature attacks like the Kamehameha.

Goku is the only playable character, but Dragon Ball: Ultimate Swipe has different enemies like Frieza to fight. When you clear missions you can unlock 3D figures of Goku and other characters. The game is out now for Android and iOS in Japan.

You mean Battle of Z? :D

Meh don’t get me wrong that is cool but holy hell have you guys seen the new Earths Special Forces: Final mod using the Half Life 1 engine..? You have to watch the whole video.

Seriously the best DBZ action I have ever seen in any game. I am still just stunned how they managed that out of the Half Life 1 engine. The combat, the speed, the power, the blood, everything is so accurate and looks so beautiful.

Gotta check out the gallery photos of the updated mod also, I cannot wait until it releases.. Online multiplayer too… Good god count me in.

Turns out TeamFourStar were prophets… The fighting system has actually devolved into a game of pattycake!

Nah, thanks BandaiNamco, but I’ll stick with good old Budokai 3 for the PS2, heck I even go back to Dragon Ball Z: The Legend for the Saturn (or PS1 if you have that version) from time to time. But thanks for caring.

So it’s a Dragon Ball themed version of Infinity Blade? …I mean that’s not a terrible idea.
