Murdered: Soul Suspect Spooks Japan With Cowboy Bebop’s Spike Spiegel’s Voice Actor

By Spencer . April 17, 2014 . 1:43am

Square Enix will release Murdered: Soul Suspect in Japan under the Extreme Edges label. Extreme Edges handles their Western releases like Thief and the Call of Duty series. In Japan, the game is called Murdered: The Soul’s Voice Calling Out and has Koichi Yamadera voicing dead hardboiled detective Rowan O’Connor.

Yamadera may be best known in the West as the voice actor for Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop. He’s also Kain Highwind in Final Fantasy IV for Nintendo DS and Joel in The Last of Us.

Murdered: Soul Suspect is slated for release on July 17 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PC in Japan. The Xbox One version is TBD. North America gets Murdered: Soul Suspect on June 3.

Vincent from Catherine too, his Joel was also very good.. One of his first important roles was ryoga from ranma (just got bluray). Hope this game is good..

Koichi Yamadera is also the new voice of Koichi Zenigata from Lupin III.

Funny thing is that, Troy Baker dubbed Yamadera in Catherine, while Yamadera dubbed Baker in The Last of Us.

I know, that’s what I thought too :) I imported both Catherine and the last of us, both of them are very versatile VAs, and Troy did a heck of a job doing joels mo cap and voice acting. Yamadera koichi dubbed Tom cruise a lot too. Han Megumi (gon in hunter 2011) also did a good job as Ellie.

Wonder if we will get the Japanese VA’s for this game, I hope Square Enix starts including them on disc or as DLC

That would be nice to have since I’ve seen some western game with some marvelous Japanese dub.

    • The_Superior_Spider-Mon

I’m hoping that the Jap VA is a free DLC, just in case it isn’t included in the disc.

Pretty sweet, I tell you what.

Yamadera is also the voice actor selected by Disney to dub Donald Duck into Japanese. As such, he played Donald in Kingdom Hearts. (As well as a number of other roles! – The Genie, Beast, Sebastian, Mushu, and Stitch in KH2 :D)

      Huh. The more you know.

Now I’m imagining Donald Duck dressed like Spike Spiegel being a hardboiled private detective. It is fantastic.

One of my anticipated game got one of my favorite Japanese VA.
Man, I hope this game is released with dual audio in the West.

Or I call someone to make it right ….

  • Guy Wesley

Now I’m kinda curious on who’s going to voice Joy, the little girl.
