The Stranger of the Village of the Sword Shows Its Mysterious Opening Video

When you’re not exploring dungeons and grabbing loot in The Stranger of the Village of the Sword, you’ll be spending a lot of time in the Strange Guild, a place for folk that come from other worlds. While most of the game’s story still remains a mystery, you might get a better idea from its opening video.

The opening video starts out with what appears to be the guild’s vice-leader, Riu, looking watching a news report about a plane that disappeared. This plane is then shown, wrecked, under two moons in a whole other world.

Considering that Riu is dressed in half armor and half schoolgirl outfit, and has been looking for a way to get back home… could she have some sort of connection to the incident?

The Stranger of the Village of the Sword is slated for release on Xbox 360 on June 5, PC on August 22, and later this year for PlayStation Vita.

  • No PS3 love? That’s sad.

    • darke

PS3 is 0ld sk00l now. The current hip-and-trendy thing is Vita to PS4 ports. ;)

      • Yan Zhao

Game has 360 release so your argument about PS3 being old school is invalid.

        • darke

It was a snarky comment relating to the announcement of Akiba’s Trip 2 being ported to a PS4. :P

  • God

Come on, throw me a bone! It doesn’t have to be something meaningful, even a vague reference is enough! But please put SOMETHING related to Sword Of The Stranger! That movie was badass, and the title of this is too goddamn similiar and fitting not to have a single reference!

I look forward to hearing more about this game in future. I have to say I am a little curious about it’s story elements, even though I am fairly certain I could guess most and be totally accurate about it, and the name alone makes me want to buy it. I just find it interesting.

Its a little odd for me since I really don’t care for the art style, at least as far as the faces go, I don’t think its bad but its by far not a “favorite” though it might be the lure of a Dungeon Crawler making me be curious about this game.

  • Suicunesol

Can’t be a coincidence that the game starts off with a news story about a missing plane.

    • Exkaiser

Given how long game development takes, it probably is a coincidence.

  • Yan Zhao

Love the artwork, will keep this game on my radar.

    • DAT Bird From DAT Cage

Damn this is a pretty, pretty Dungeon Crawler

If Demon Gaze can get localized… I do not know what will prevent this game from coming over.

The art is so damn pretty. This quality of art is amazing. It trumps P4G, trumps Mind 0, trumps Conception II, trumps SAO Harem Fraternity, trumps Devil Survivor, trumps SMT IV.

The ONLY game that may trump this in art quality is Persona 5 and the cuteness of Persona Q.

      • DyLaN

I dunno, this game characters art style is attempting to look somewhat “realistic” which i don’t really fond of. Maybe its just a preference thing since all the games you mention have stylish anime art style which I like especially.

    • fairysun

Yes, totally sold for the artwork.

  • Aoshi00

The art’s really nice, too bad I’m not into dungeon crawler.. Students of Round had an amazing soundtrack too..

  • Go2hell66

that outfit design is amazing. why’d it take this long for someone to make a half schoolgirl half armor outfit :D

  • shuyai

so a plane gone missing from our world into the fantasy world and they have to fight for some reason?

i was hoping for atleast a glimpse of game graphic but i guess it will be like demon gaze with 2D sprite
