Sega Bringing Mobile RPG Hit Chain Chronicle To Vita

By Spencer . April 24, 2014 . 3:02am

Sega found success in the social game market with titles like Kingdom Conquest and Samurai & Dragons on Vita. Chain Chronicle is a mobile RPG with a battle system that’s kind of like Plants vs. Zombies. Enemies come from the left side of the screen and you line up heroes on the right to stand their ground.

Toi8, Ugetsu Hakua, and many Cardfight!! Vanguard illustrators designed characters for Chain Chronicle. Sega also got voice actors including Akira Ishida, Ayane Sakura, and Kotori Koiwai (Tioni in Mugen Souls Z) to play characters in the game. Chain Chronicle has been a breakout success similar to Square Enix’s Million Arthur series.

And following in the footsteps of Million Arthur, Sega announced a PlayStation Vita port. Chain Chronicle V is scheduled for release in summer 2014.

I would be happy if it weren’t for the fact that I was already playing it on my phone. Also, can’t really see the point considering my Vita has no 3G and has to chug Mobile power for hotspot. Also, the Vita WiFi seems pretty weak :/

I haven’t played it in a while, what evens are out? I still don’t have any 5 stars. >.<

Dunno about iPhone but the game on google play is region locked. Nice that Vita doesn’t do that crap and dearly hope Sony doesn’t start anytime soon.

Sega really knows the players who have mobile phone but the performances are not compatible like mine’s…
and they really know that there are still many ppl who want to play the game despite incompatible mobile phone system

    Good Guy Sega…

but, for releasing it on the west, hmmmm…

  • Kornelious

Another phone game moving to the Vita, that’s good to hear :)
Does anyone know what this game is like?

    • Renaldi Saputra

not your usual card collecting social game

  • Ecchitori-san

So, basically it’s a tower defense game? but instead has rpg elements? I’m a little confused about that.

    • Renaldi Saputra

it’s something like usual card collecting game, but with RPG genre where you command the soldier in real time
more or less like plant vs zombie with controlling soldiers

that’s what make it very different comparing to another social games especially card collecting

      • Kumiko Akimoto

Aren’t there other games just like it?

        • Renaldi Saputra

          no there aren’t in Japan

          • Kumiko Akimoto

I’m pretty sure there are other mobile card game with tower defense and rpg elements.

          • Renaldi Saputra

this is not tower defense, though…
            not like plant vs zombie
only the interface is like plant vs zombie
you only bring some cards into battle fields, from the left side screen, enemies will go approach some by some…
player’s soldiers are on the right side screen…

          • Kumiko Akimoto

Not every tower defense is like plants vs zombie, it’s not a genre setter.
If you are placing your units in some form of formation and there are multitudes of enemies coming to destroy something you are protecting it’s a tower defense.

          • Renaldi Saputra

it’s not protecting something IIRC, just battle fields…

EDIT: I just found info from my friends, and it’s a yes..
like plant vs zombie, if you got holes and enemy infiltrate, you lose

          • Kumiko Akimoto

Well now that’s settled there are already games like that, on mobile. It look like it has its own quirks of course but genre wise there’ alot more where that came from

          • Renaldi Saputra

but, well, it’s not your typical card collecting social game after all

          • Kumiko Akimoto

I don’t know about that it doesn’t look like it breaks out of that mold unless you mean it doesn’t have a cashshop or something.

I like to see some gameplay please
