Drakengard 3 Will Get Even More DLC Scenarios

By Sato . May 1, 2014 . 1:15am

Drakengard 3 recently received a set of DLC prequel stories in Japan. Instead of playing Zero, you get to play as her Intoner sisters and unlock their memories through the story. Square Enix has even more downloadable scenarios in the works for Drakengard 3.

The news comes from their recent release of the “additional scenario set,” which includes all six additional scenarios for a cheaper price of 2,284 yen (roughly $22).

As previously reported, each DLC episode will have plenty of hidden items and their own weapon stories, along with something that will relate to the scenarios that will be “available in the future”.

While no further details have been shared on the upcoming scenarios, Square Enix will likely be revealing them in the near future.

Drakengard 3 is slated for release on May 20 in North America and May 21 in Europe for PlayStation 3.

I’m willing to bet this is where more intense mind screwing happens. Huzzah for more Drakengard!

    • herrer

You bet after seeing the story about the Homunculus and the children you can guess things well be messed up.

      • Christopher Nunes

Are you talking about Full Metal Alchemist or something else?

        • Rayhan PromisedGallery

no. Homunculus is a boss in DLC episodes

          • Christopher Nunes

            I see.

        • herrer

In one of the DLC’s I think that charterer up there three goes into a plce and faces off against a creature with a similar name.

So glad they let us play as the Sisters. For the longest time after each sister’s introduction I was begging in my mind to at least have some kind of costume system that would let us “look” like the sisters (no chance of playing them since you have to kill them), but SE went past my expectations and gave us personal DLC for each sister. Can barely keep my joy in my pants as I wait for that May 21st release date.

  • Freud_Hater

Hopefully, we in NA will be able to get those DLCs as well :3

A-And in Europe, too, I hope you guys can get it as well ^^’

What I want to know is, did they ever patch the performance issues? Otherwise I don’t see the point of continuing to add DLC to a broken game.

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

the point is = more dlc, more money

    • Aoshi00

The loading time has been drastically improved at least. Dlcs are nice, but to me they felt like they were cut out of the original game. Man, wish they sold this bundle at the beginning as a season pass, I bought all of them except zero s for 600 yen each, but two s was free at least. These stories added much needed contents lacking in the main game.easy to get gold to buy and upgrade weapons.. unlocking the diaries and journal entries are interesting..

How’s the framerate? I’ve seen some sequences where it looked like the game was dropping to 1fps or lower. Is it a consistent problem throughout the game?

I’m hoping that they get some of these kinks worked out for the western release. For now I’ve canceled my preorder out of fear of disappointment and spending constraints.

        • Wappuli

There was only one time for me where fps dropped near 1, and it was pretty precise. In a stage with constant effect that lowers framerate all the time and then I let many mage-type enemies use a multi-fireball spell at the same time.
But yup, low fps is a problem pretty much throughout the whole game.

          • leingod

That’s a shame… I really wanted to play this, but low / unstable framerates are a no-no for me.

          • Chiupon

then obviously you didn’t want to play it

          • leingod

I wanted to. Now that I know its performance is mediocre, I don’t want to anymore.

I’m not a fanboy, so I’m not accepting half-assed games just because I happen to like the series.

        • Aoshi00

It was patched like 3 times..I think it improved but the framerates still not smooth,, also tearing, and camera is not friendly, I got used to it though. My biggest pet peeve was the long loading, that’s mainly taken care of. So I’m thankful for that, otherwise lots of waiting btwn missions and screens. Technical issues aside,I don’t think this game should be missed ifyou liked Drakengard and Nier at all.

The game’s performance was never such that it made it unplayable. Unfortunately even at the latest patch level it shows itself as being poorly optimized, and perhaps just pushing the hardware harder than it can keep up with.

That said, aside from the moments where you call down dragon fire, the game remains completely playable. And it is a very worthwhile game too, extremely enjoyable.

Spoilers of course, but I have game play from all 6 DLCs on youtube, subtitled. If you remain curious about the game’s performance quality you can check out how it actually plays.

I kinda forgot about this game for a while………..AND I JUST REMEMBERED, I have the collectors edition coming! :D AND I ALSO REMEMBERED…….I spent 100$ on it -_-

I kinda forgot about this game for a while………..AND I JUST REMEMBERED, I haven’t pre-ordered this game! :D AND I ALSO REMEMBERED…….They run out of collector edition TT__TT

    • Cheesy12

      Twenty…Dollars…Shipping D;

      • Kornelious

Yeah, I’m on what they call, the “least profitable” side of collecting :(

    • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

I almost dd it when they went back in stock, however, the price and shipping was too much for me. I did preorder the standard edition with the bonuses of Japanese voice overs etc though.

    • Revyatheworldeater .

I just remembered I also ordered said collector’s edition… and it looks so depressing compared to my JP collector’s edition.

      • gRiMmYdArK13

I just remembered something, we’re gonna get the novel officially translated! This is the first time we’re getting anything translated because most of Yoko Taro’s short stories and the first two games’ novels didn’t have a translation (besides fan translation). This is wonderful that we finally get something of the sort officially translated!

  • Brimfyre

Who else is excited about those sweet ass PSN wallpapers we get for preordering early?

  • Stephen Mc Devitt

Will Square-Enix likely make a season pass for western customers?

  • MrJechgo

As if the game needed more content to explain why it’s so messed up… No seriously, name me ONE character in the game that isn’t on the verge of going insane.

“You get to play as her Intoner sisters and unlock their memories through the story.”

Hey! I get to know how 5 beautiful women went from headstrong and handsome to depraved and axe-crazy… not sure I would like the explanation why they changed this much from their initial behavior, whatever it might have been. I don’t think it’s gonna be for the faint of heart.

How to sum this game: “Hey fella! You get to fight some really hot chicks who just want to kill you as another really hot chick! Oh… and you can also fly on top of a dragon.”

Jokes aside, at least it’s good that they’re supporting the game.

  • new_tradition

Wonder if it’ll be about the Apostles. I’m not sure how much coverage each guy gets in the other DLC scenarios, but so far all the characters seem pretty interesting.

Strangely, I didn’t mind having Zero has the only playable female character. The other women clearly got revealed as enemies of her, so I couldn’t think of why they would be playable…

But I’m buying all those DLC scenarios *_*

Hope it gives hints to Drakengard 4
