image Xbox One launch title Dead Rising 3 broke the million mark along with the HD version of Resident Evil: Revelations. Capcom released the Nintendo 3DS game for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC last year.

DuckTales: Remastered, a remake of a Capcom developed NES game, over-performed, but specific sales numbers were not released. Originally, DuckTales: Remastered was digital only, but Capcom started selling the game in stores right before the holidays.

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies reached projected sales.

Monster Hunter 4 for Nintendo 3DS was a hit for Capcom. The game was a strong seller in seller in stores and digitally. While the latest Monster Hunter game did well, Monster Hunter Frontier G performed lower than expected for Capcom. The PC/Xbox 360 online game was ported for PlayStation 3 and Wii U last year. A Vita version is also in development. Lost Planet 3 was also below expectations and mobile games, as a whole, underperformed.

Compared to last fiscal year, Capcom saw a boost in operating income from amusement machine and other businesses which includes character goods and guidebooks. Overall, Capcom’s net sales increased 8.6% and Capcom booked 3,444 million yen ($33.8 million) in net income, up 15,9% compared to the previous fiscal year.

[Insert typical MH post bout localization]

Man i’d be so up for a new Dragon’s Dogma, it’s one of my insta-favorite games in a while along a few others. TBH i didn’t enjoy too much the content in dark arisen, i’d say i preferred more the improvements to the core game like faster menus, the traveling stone and stuff.

If they made a DD2 for PS4 i think it would be reason enough for me to get one, or even better for Vita. And not a social game but the real deal. >_>

    • CozyAndWarm

No need to worry about MH localizatuon anymore

Man, I hope they can get working on Chip N’ Dale and Darkwing Duck after this. Although I kinda want them to release Ducktales 2. I enjoyed it more than the first game.

    Sucks that my brother gave away my NES copy ;_;

Am I the only person that actually really enjoyed Lost Planet 3?

    • CptPokerface

If you’re a person that enjoys a more story-oriented experience than you’re probably one of a handful. From what I remember from the reviews of LP3 it had a decent story and mediocre everything else.

But taste is of course subjective, so I can merely guess at what you liked about it, haha. I much preferred the first two games personally.

I actually find it pretty funny that Bioshock Infinite got such high praise when all it had going for it was it’s story as well. Goes to show how bias and hype can affect one’s enjoyment of the game.

        • CptPokerface

Hmm maybe, but I think Bioshock generally gets a pass because it’s a series that has always had a good story.

The biggest draws to Lost Planet 1 and 2 were the gigantic boss battles and hectic online multiplayer. For them to shift away from that to deliver a more story-oriented experience just left people scratching their heads, I imagine.

Yeah, I’m one of those who liked Bioshock Infinite for the story and the world they’d created (though the combat kinda sucked…). But I just couldn’t get into Lost Planet 3, the world just didn’t feel as creative even though the story and combat were decent enough. Guess I’m an explorer. :)

          • CptPokerface

Bioshock’s combat has never been all that spectacular admittedly..Infinite did improve on it to a degree at least.

Nothing looked all that great about Lost Planet 3 based on how little they actually showed of it before it released…shame, it was loads of fun in 1 and 2.

  • brian

Monster Hunter 4 was just a solid seller and not crazy popular?

  • Tarkovsky

And the ignorant Capcom hate brigade still thinks Capcom are going bust. Pfftt.

  • CptPokerface

It always takes an article like this to even remind me of Lost Planet 3’s existence. Saddening.

  • Schiller

Bring Dragon’s Dogma to Steam/PC, goddammit Capcom!

  • leingod

Well, at least this reminds me Capcom still does some cool stuff. Dead Rising 3 was fun as hell, and Duck Tales… oh, how that game took me back…

Ducktales Remastered selling well gives me hope that other classic Disney games might be seeing a “remastered” version one of these days. Also- Dual Destinies reaching projected sales, even if it sounds like it didn’t set the charts on fire, is at least a soothing prospect. This franchise still got legs, and that makes me a happy panda.

  • Tincho Kudos

These sales are from japan only right? I wonder how many downloads had Ace Attorney 5 on the eshop in EU/NA

  • fairysun

Capcom, you’ve destroyed Resident Evil. But please do not ever ever ever ever mess this franchise up.

    • DoctorButler

Don’t worry, Keiji Inafune left, so there’s no one to push retooling established series for the “western audience”.

    • Namuro

I don’t think they can change this anymore than they already did…

  • Syn

Is it weird that am glad their mobile gaming department didnt do well…….I hope this shows them that good games on dedicated devices(consoles/handhelds) will have money spent on them because the people that made them rich in the first place play on said platforms the most.

  • Namuro

So, those are the best sellers, eh…?

    Next game from CAPCOM!
