Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate Gets A Taste Of Toukiden

By Spencer . May 8, 2014 . 1:10am

Warriors Orochi 3 went beyond a Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors crossover. It’s one giant Tecmo Koei button mashing melting pot with characters from Dead or Alive and even Gust’s Atelier series. We fully expect Toukiden characters to be in some Warriors Orochi game, but until that happens you’ll have to make do with Toukiden costumes.

First print copies Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate for PlayStation 4 includes a code that gives players three Toukiden costumes. Players will get Kaguya as Nagi, Taigong Wang as Hayatori, and Nu Wa as Oka.

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate comes out for PlayStation 4 on June 26. The game hasn’t been announced for the West, but it looks like it will be released since Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate was rated in Australia.

I cant help but be put off by the fact that Kaguya’s version of Nagi’s costume still has the quiver of arrows. Like there’s no reason for her to have them what so ever, so why is it there? And wouldn’t it make more sense for the costume to go to Ina instead?

Also, don’t y’all think it would have made more sense for the Hayatori costume to go to an actual ninja, like Hanzo or Ryu, instead of Wang? I mean there’s a good chance that Zhao Yuns DW8 DLC costume based off Ibuki might get in to match with these others, so its not like the Toukiden costumes will be just exclusive to WO3 characters.

the costumes are great and all, I just think they should have chosen characters more suited for outfits with weapons or fighting styles similar to the outfits original wearer.

Gota show the mystics some love since they barely got any costumes compared to the rest of the cast :3

thats nice and all, but they should have at least given them costumes that made sense. Like, I’ve no problem with Nuwa dressed as Ōka, afterall their both powerful sword wielding females. But as I said before Hayatori’s costume is best suited for another Ninja, and Nagi’s costume is best suited for an archer given the quiver of arrows.

if they REALLY wanted/needed to give them outfits from another franchise, they could have easily given Taigong Wang and Kaguya costumes based off the various NPC’s from Toukiden. Kaguya easily could have a costume based off of the Priestess Kikka, Ōka’s sister. And Wang could have gotten a costume based off of Souma, the new character introduced in Toukiden Kiwami, who kinda looks like him already.

Then from there they could have easily given costumes based off Toukiden’s PC’s and NPC’s, but instead they give characters mix-matched costumes where two of the three characters simply don’t fit with the outfits their given.

Again, Nuwa as Ōka is perfect, but the other two, while looking okay, just flat out do not work. Not for me anyway, again I just wish they would have actually thought about what characters got what costumes, rather than just giving them costumes based off random characters willy-nilly.

Tecmo-Koei really has good marketing strategy. The crossover costumes and characters sell their games even more.
I am a sucker for crossover costumes/character and sometimes I hate myself for it. :(

Awesome, would’ve loved to see some of the characters from Toukiden in this (Because they’re all so likeable :D) But this is cool. This game will compliment my PS4 shelf nicely one it gets localized :)

  • Crossover costumes with gust games? I wouldn’t mind seeing a little Mana Khemia if that’s the case…
