Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines Trailer Recaps What The Game Is All About

By Sato . May 9, 2014 . 1:33pm

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines, the game where you play as a family with a cursed bloodline that only permits them to live on for two years has a lot to offer, so Sony Computer Entertainment Japan put together the latest trailer that touches on key parts of the game.

The trailer starts out with a brief recap of the game’s story, explaining how Abeno Seimei slaughtered an entire family. This family was then revived thanks to the goddess Nueko, but in exchange, they are cursed and will only live a lifespan of two years.

In order to defeat Abeno Seimei, the family must take on all kinds of different oni by exploring various dungeons and continuing the family tree to keep the fight going.

In order to keep the family growing, players will need to perform rituals with gods and deities using “Dedication Points” to pass on the genes of the characters before they go on to the afterlife. There are different job classes like the recently introduced Monk and Cannoneer, so you can put together your best party to take on the ventriloquist villain.

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines will be released on July 17, 2014 for PlayStation Vita in Japan, and it will also be coming to the west later on.

    The hypest shit.

    • DAT Bird From DAT Cage

Passing on genes with deities = ……..?
Is this another Conception II or is this……

      • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

To be fair, the concept of having children / descendants existed since the 16 bits era. Both Phantasy Star III and Fire Emblem IV implemented this mechanic~.

        • hng qtr

          You forgot Dragon Quest V.

        • DAT Bird From DAT Cage

So is this game going to be rated 17+ or mature because of explicitness?

          • KCdash

No, there’s nothing explicit in the game, the baby making is basically a ritual thing just like in the first one http://youtu.be/i87CsgD3oYg?t=8m5s you’ll see it in this video jumped to where they demonstrate it by picking a deity and the magic happens (pun intended)

      • Kit

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines also knows as Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke 2, the second game of series. Sony named it, Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines because they didnt localize the first game, which released in 1999 for Playstation. The ideas pass genes with girls/boys (include deities) have appeared in this serie since the first game out.
        By the contrast, Copception I – II released on 2012 – 2013.
So I think Conception is more like another Oreshika.

p/s: I’m still learning english, so forgive me if I made mistakes.

      • notentirelythere

Well, it sure doesn’t seem like a harem game, and the battle system looks completely different… too, it’s a continuation of a 1999 game where Conception II is a kind of response to modern Persona (granted, with very different focuses). I also haven’t seen any screens of spooning silhouettes for Oreika.
I’d say the similarities are superficial.

    • Lastlight

This game is hype, yeah but…freedom wars though…
This game comes second place on the hype list lol

  • .:Raphællius:.

    Such a pretty looking game.

  • z_merquise

I really love the ukiyo-e (woodblock painting) styled art in this game. The concept sounds also unusual in an RPG as well.

I wonder if you can name your own family. Because I’m going to name my family Joestar.

    • Micrll

Having poked at the Japanese demo, yes you get to put in a family name. You also get to enter a first name but I didn’t get far enough to see what happens when you change generations to that name.

  • klkAlexar

I wonder if SCEA is going to bother with releasing English trailers. I want English trailers.

An English commercial like the Japanese one would also be neat.

  • God

I still believe Semei is gonna end up being the good guy.

  • Kevin Lor

I want this game so badly right now

  • KuroNathan

Pretty stylish and flashy, sort of like if conception II was done right >.>

I’d also like to point out it has a whale summon. A GODDAMN WHALE

    • Ric Vazquez

Looks like you have never played FFVI and summoned Bismark

      • KuroNathan

I did, but in ffvi you didn’t have the entire party strike a dramatic pose first

        • Ric Vazquez

  • Ladius

This is probably the Vita jrpg I’m most hyped for alongside Tales of Hearts R, the concept and art direction are wonderful and it’s great to see Sony finally invested in localizing its niche titles.

Alfa System surely had a good run with interesting plots in the ’90s, the first Oreshika and Linda Cube are both really bizarre and interesting.

  • Here’s to hoping we get a special edition when it gets localized to the West as well.

  • Julio D. Zulkarnain

    hope the limited edition gets localized too ;_;

  • dark-kyon

    this look fucking good.

  • TerrenceEncore Jones

Now this game looks interesting. I hope it is not too Japanese to release in the US.

  • Jadfish

    That mouse-girl is adorable

    • Kai2591

Indeed. What’s her name, I wonder?

      • Jadfish

I’ll call her Mouse-girl for now

        • Kai2591

          Mouse Musume?

          • Milewide

            I call her cat bait.

          • Kai2591

            That’s cute too.

          • Jadfish

O-okay I have literally just begun learning hiragana (through a iphone app nonetheless) so please bear with me here:
In the picture in the top of the news, her Name box says “Tsuuran”

          • Jadfish

Nevermind, I asked 4chan’s Vita general and had them translate it.
            It’s “Koochin” <3

          • Kai2591

            Koochin huh?
Good investigation work mate *thumbs up* ;)

          • Kai2591

            btw who’s this girl^?

            EDIT: nvm. Kohata from BRS.

  • iirc in this game the descendants marry the deities right? So does the descendants that come from the previous marriage can marry with the same deities that the previous descendants married? Or how does the marriage system work? I mean marrying the same deities will be like incest, and I’m sure there is a limited number of deities characters in this game

  • Ric Vazquez

    Much hype

  • Oliver Teigaga

This really need to bundle a special edition addition Vita with this game. If its as good and deep as it looks, it will shift hardware.

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Sony seems to have taken a huge step backwards on that front. I remember how the PSP got lots of game specific editions [even in the West] that didn’t just bundle the game but were offered with special collored PSPs or even with patterns sometimes [KH: BbS, Dissidia(s), FF, etc]. Yet with the PSV the bundle editions are probably below 10 and in the West it’s always a black PSV [save for AC that was white]~.

  • Eric Harris

This and Stranger of the Village of the Sword have the most beautiful art. Those are the 2 games I really want to play on that OLED screen!

  • Kornelious

The art style of this game is pretty neat. i just hope when it’s localized it gets a physical release (Unlike Souls Sacrifice Delta)………Who is localizing this actually?

  • Nu Blitz

So basically Agarest with less feels and 2 year lifespans

  • Tanicia Marshall

This game Freedom Wars and Tales of Hearts R is what is pushing me to get a vita this summer.
