Moero Chronicle In Short Supply, Just Like Monster Monpiece At Launch

By Spencer . May 20, 2014 . 12:24am

imageCompile Heart is doing quite well with Monster Monpiece’s sequel, Moero Chronicle. The PlayStation Vita game is sold out in some retailers and the developer is rushing to release another shipment on May 21.

Moero Chronicle launched last week and over 50,000 units were shipped throughout Japan. Monster Monpiece also sold out in its first week with 27,000 units shipped. Since it’s growing, the Monster series is another key series for Neptunia maker Compile Heart.

Monster Monpiece will launch in North America and Europe next week as a digital download for PlayStation Vita.

Glad to see it sells! Yupo! :3

  • Jadfish

I’m surprised that this is a succes.

    • Shippoyasha

It seems a lot of sexy dungeon crawlers have been doing swimmingly well though.

I played about 4 or 5 of them the past year. It’s really hard to mess up classical dungeon crawling.

      • Jadfish

It’s just a very saturated market right now – and a niche one at that.
I guess their strategy with this was to intensify the fan-service and keep the gameplay decent.

The dildo-sword and the in-your-face panties are deal breakers for me though. I didn’t know I had a limit to this stuff, but I guess I do after all.

        • DyLaN

I’m still surprised that the actual cover for the game is tamer than the promotional/key art lol.

The OST cover uses this art for some reason though.

        • darke

Don’t play the Saint’s Row series of games then. Both III and IV had a large, purple dildo-baton as prominent weaponry from memory. :)

So much fun beating people over the head with it. ;)

        • Shippoyasha

I think it’s just cheeky fun to be honest. Pun fully intended! There’s been more risky games than Monster Monpiece out there. I guess it’s safe to say they will never get the consideration for port.

  • Warukyure

Hopefully, they’ll also do the sequel for America as well. I don’t even care if it isn’t physical. Need to hit that JRPG stride for the VITA.

    • Shady Shariest

“Monster Monpiece will launch in North America and Europe next week as a digital download for PlayStation Vita.”

Don’t mind me. Just derping. :X

      • Warukyure

Thats the first game, not moero chronicles Which would be the second game of the “series”.

        • Shady Shariest

Ouch. I need to clean my glasses it seems :3 Sorry. My bad, Yupo…

  • chibidw

A male character in a Compile Heart game… It’s like spotting the white whale.

Man, I really can’t faff about with ordering a 64 GB Vita memory card anymore.

    • DyLaN

Everyone seems to forgot Cross Edge and Agarest exist be4 HDN >_> And there also Fairy Fencer F, Mugen Souls/Z, Sorcery Saga and both DAL games.

      • chibidw

Compile Heart didn’t have anything to do with Trinity Universe. The rest of them are still a pretty small selection out of Compile Heart’s catalogue.

        • DyLaN

I edited the comment just a while ago to fix the mistake and include more example, btw.

          • chibidw

Man, why do I need to debate a joke? Can’t you just laugh?

          • DyLaN

:V Sry for spoiling your fun. I’m just trying to be accurate lol.

    • AlphaSixNine

I don’t mind male characters…. if it’s just the protagonist lol.

  • AlphaSixNine

Awesome. Hope they bring it over too. And hopefully, IFI won’t let the censorship backlash of Monster Monpiece stop the localization of this one and instead take the criticism to try and do better.

    • waku waku

I thought the severity of criticism was uncalled for though. It was very delicate censorship and in no way reflected the deliberate anger posed towards it.

      • AlphaSixNine

Yes. That’s why I’m hoping IFI can ignore the unnecessarily high emotions and stuff like that and take it all as an input to do better.

I’m all for voicing complaints just make it constructive and avoid unnecessary comments and high emotions. I believe IFI will listen better to politely written comments and criticism rather than angrily written ones. lol

It’s not like IFI has done censorshp over and over and over again without listening to fan feedback.

      • Shippoyasha

I think the criticism had its place though. I agree it’s a ‘delicate’ situation but people are right in being irked by it.

Then again, the smart thing to do here is to simply import as long as you understand the language.

    • SeptimusHeap

Hopefully, if CH plans on giving this a sequel, it better have a female protag with female monsters just like Monster Monpiece. Moero’s protag is simply incredibly dull and boring.

      • Trinity

Oh? The game we’re getting next week has a female protagonist?

        • DyLaN

Yup. I don’t see any males in the character section of the JP main site.

      • Evil

no this game has a male protag which in my opinion is better

    • Arrngrim

All in all the anger is misguided…we should be angry at the dictator-esque government enforcing such censorship in the first place, not the company which is forced to comply with such censorship. I swear America is one backwards arse place (I live here), some of the goriest & most violent games are the top hits and no one bats a freaking eye, but flash a little skin and you’d think you’d just got finished clubbing 20 baby seals….

      • M’iau M’iaut

Just do remember the countries with the actual laws in place which had to be addressed aren’t the United States. And that IF wouldn’t have had the resources to do different versions for each country.

        • Arrngrim

Good to know, doesn’t change my feelings as we’ve all beaten the dead horse that is the violence vs boobies debate in the US. But sucks to hear other countries are just as bad as us (or worse).

          • Ryumoau

you sound like such a idiot….

      • MillerKun

Thank you Arnngrim I thought I was the only one who was aware of this issue.Funny thing is Japan censor content of GTA V the strip club & other stuff but the American game of it didn’t.

  • RedSuisei

Granted, they likely don’t give a lot of initial shipment in the first place like Monpiece and the 27k initial shipment, but news like this make me happy :)

Now hoping some publisher will be brave enough to bring this to the West.

    • AlphaSixNine

Is 50,000 not a lot? Not really sure myself.

      • RedSuisei

Okay, my bad, I didn’t see the 50k :/ It’s actually pretty good for a niche game like this.

        • darke

IMO, considering Natural Doctrine only sold 6k in it’s first week on vita (and that was the highest sales out of PS3/PS4/Vita), 50k for an otaku game is great. :)

  • I’m hoping this comes out as Monster Monopeice is

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Its a great game, surprisingly. Been addicted as hell to it ever since it arrived.

    • RedSuisei

If there’s anything I learned from owning a Vita, it’s that a lot of these niche, fanservicey games actually have more interesting gameplay than most of the normal games.

Anyway, mind sharing your opinions on the game?

      • FitzpatrickPhillips

Battle system is very quick and very fun, putting emphasis on hitting enemy weaknesses. There are 2 different kinds of battles, H Monster battles and Monster Girl Battles both with different objectives to win. The girls are delicious and the game is actually pretty damn challenging, especially witth 4 difficulty modes. Story is super plain but the humor and characters are tons of fun. Good stuff, CH.

  • Sentsuizan_93

Good to see this going well. C’moon IF, find a publisher already… :V

    • PreyMantis

I wonder if it’s possible for us normal folks to just band together and collect money to pay for the production of the game…

      • otakumike

yeah, some place where we can kick start a localization effort.

        • PreyMantis

That’s what I was getting to, but it’s not possible without the devs asking for it.

  • Kornelious

Hopefully it’s popularity will lead to a localization, Didn’t someone already say they were interested in localizing this….or was that Operation Abyss?

  • fairysun

For a while I read that as Moe Chronicle :D

  • TerrenceEncore Jones

I hope the game sold out due it being a good game and not due to a small release. I do hope the game is really good.

    • darke

Monpiece sold out with >27k; Moero sold out with >50k. Considering that Natural Doctrine, which seemed to be a non-otaku game, barely sold 6k on Vita in release week, it doesn’t look like a ‘small release’ problem. :)
