Square Enix recently held their 14th edition of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s “Letter from the Producer” Q&A series, where the development staff answered various questions about the game’s future. Here’s a summary of some of the highlights from Famitsu’s report of the event.

Old man Ramuh has been revealed as the next Primal for patch 2.3, and will have both hard and extreme mode fights right off the bat. As far as drops go, they’ll mainly be accessories, but he’ll also drop lvl 100 weapons and also a rare mount.

Square Enix also teased that something good will come out of collecting all the Primal mounts later on.

The above is a look at some of the artwork for the upcoming continuation of the 24-man raid Crystal Tower instance, in addition to a peak at the next levels of Coil.

Naoki Yoshida also shared a peek at the grooms and brides’ look for those of you looking forward to getting hitched in Eorzea. As previously reported, there will be two rings for the couple, and throwing them away will result in a “divorce”.

The addition of the two-man mount feature will also be nice to have once the marriage system goes live! The above is a first-look at the final product of the two-man mount, and some concept designs.

Fans asked for more glasses and Square Enix delivered. The above is a look at some glasses that will probably be a hit with players and the Vanity system once they’re released for version 2.3.

Here’s a look at some more poses that will be added with patch version 2.28. This means no more being restricted to the stiff and default sitting pose!

Lead designer Takeo Suzuki jokingly said that it makes him want to shout “Yoshidaaaa!” whenever the producer shows things that are still being worked on. Upon mentioning this,  Yoshi-P showed the above image, teasing that we might be able to dye Artifact Armors in the near future. He also shared a look at some more design work.

While on the subject of looks and appearances, Square Enix announced that they will begin selling Fantasia, items used to remake your character from voice to appearance, for 1,000 yen ($10) a piece. They will come in packs of one, three, and five.

The date for patch version 2.3 has yet to be announced. Square Enix also announced that patch 2.28 will go live on June 4 or June 5.

  • Takane Shijou

The wedding dress looks rather beautiful, and I really do like that Chocobo design as well.

  • I watched the Live Letter and I’m really looking forward to the wedding dress and the White Chocobo. What? Don’t look at me like that lol =)

  • VenerableSage

I see the wedding attire and all I can think of is the raid on Bevelle.

  • idrawrobots

Don’t do it Square-Enix. Adding Marriage will likely cause problems for you.

    • Like Divorce Requests and being stuck with paying for Children Pensions afterwards? That’s a living hell on any Final Fantasy Universe. Believe me, kupo. Death is almost nonexistent for some of us. So, that “till Death do us part” bit is a huge lie!

      • M’iau M’iaut

But this is a MMO. All that has to happen is character delete.

        • Unless the God of Death charges you a sizeable fee for escaping Marriage.

In any case, that’s just not an option in most MMOs. To marry in some of those, you would need to be beyond the End-Game, while each fiancee has to do a different number of sidequests to have some items to even get access to the place of Marriage. A bunch of long rituals later, and the deed is finally done.

          • idrawrobots

While I appreciate your two’s comments, I was referring to the storm that cometh from any community not represented in the added marriage.

          • 하세요

They’ve already stated their stance in XI why there isn’t any gay marriage. Now whether or not that changes, we’ll see. The fanbase should already know their stance and how it may not change. SE will sleep just as comfortably.

          • NintendoPSXTheSecond

Now if only Nintendo could get a pass…

          • Spirit Macardi

Haven’t you read the rules of game journalism? If any company but Nintendo does something disagreeable then it’s perfectly fine. If Nintendo themselves step even a little outside though, tear them apart savagely and then throw in a disparaging comment about whatever gameplay gimmick their consoles are using.

This also applies to if Nintendo does what they’ve always been doing, in which case they’re “stagnating.” Where as if another company does the same they’re “appealing to the core demographic.”

          • so no yuri D:

          • Some storms wouldn’t come forth unless summoned and stirred. I do know what you mean, but people tend to not notice what MMOs tend to be like sometimes. How many players actually play with a character of their same gender? And how many play with a character of their opposite gender?

You can do a poll about this, and regardless of the results, 50/50 of the time, Same-Gender Marriages are common in all MMOs, if you consider the genders of the players. And really, I understand that many others would like it to be reflected much more obviously in-game. I feel like despite most of the gender bias that’s really as old as this Earth… well, this situation will just keep on happening for as long as Life and Death is still an ongoing concept.

      • Seizui

        You made my day.

      • ネオフォトン ~ Neo

        Comment of the day, easily.

    • Loli Summoner

It already has, look at the forums. You’ll see what I’m talking about *cough* *cough* not able to do gay marriages *cough*

      • Ritsuioko23

Who cares about fucking gay marriage

        • RablaAndrews

          Er, gay people?

No need to casually insult an entire community.

          • Ritsuioko23

But its a game, people need to get over this shit. Go like the same gender irl.

  • Bunzi

Wedding Chocos! Man I’ll give them this – they add a boatload of really fun things with each major patch of this.

  • NintendoPSXTheSecond

Can’t wait for those 3 star crafting Wedding Dresses I’ll never be able to make.

    • Enma_Kozato

Or never be able to buy because they’ll be so hard to make.

    • Crevox

Why can’t you make them? It’s difficult sure, but you just work at it and eventually you can.

  • DragKudo

  • AndyLC

Some traditional Japanese wedding attire would also be cool.

  • AokiShizuku

    I got one question…

Can we keep the costumes even if there’s a divorce? It’d be nice to you know…get that tuxedo.

    • Wappuli

I’m sure you can even get the costumes without actually getting yourself wed.

  • Sentsuizan_93

Wow… And I was going to buy this today. Interesting~

  • waku waku

  • fairysun

Need to have divorce feature as well. XD

The kids need to learn that not all marriage ended in happily ever after.

    • Solace

Oh, divorce was built into the system. Chuck the rings and you’re divorced.

As for kids… do couples need to recruit Lalafells to be their kids? XD

      • They did this in FFXI a LOT. A few people just did really short Humes, especially if the couple was Elvann. But yeah, they usually stuck to the Lalafell/Tarutaru race on alternate accounts to depict their “kids” :O

        • Solace

Pffhahaha! Oh man. That’s something special right there.

  • Kornelious

I’m still hoping for my top 3 rewuests on Final Fantasy 14 to be realized some day!
1.) Personal Housing (That isn’t outrageously priced!)
2.) The NPC Affinity system (Because of Y’sholta <3)
3.) A DUAL SWORD WEILDING CLASS (Because of Awesome :P)

    • RingoRinn

The affinity system was just an April fools joke. It was just edited images shown and there was no real content to it I guess. If Yoshida wants to put it in the game the whole system will need to be designed so it will take maybe over a year for it to be put in cause of what is already planned to come into the game for the next few updates

    • Postnjam

What about mounts during waiting for Duties, not sure why they can’t turn mounts off when you start. it’s annoying to have to walk everywhere waiting for a duty to start, it’s horrible on DPS as it’s about an hour to get anywhere. They seriously need to split the DPS classes up into two catagories, like Heavy DPS and light DPS, so you wait less time.

  • Wappuli

Sounds like a really nice patch with all those changes, like being able to participate in high level duty roulette as party. And that white wedding chocobo looks nice, I want it so much.

That new chair pose(picture 19) looks weird on lalafells, almost as if it’s just a cut of from the current /changepose that they have on chairs. . .
The second new chair pose that they showed looks good on everyone though.

  • ネオフォトン ~ Neo

I’d be looking forward for the next Crystal Tower if it weren’t so prone to trolls or people who don’t wanna listen or pull a Leeroy.

Definitely hyped for the Ramuh Primal fight, however. I still have to clear Titan EX to get on to the others, not looking toward to doing that fight.

  • MassGamesinek

Is this game worth it? It looks good but i don’t play mmos that much so i don’t know…

  • BeatTheGG

This game just keeps on delivering don’t it? :D Not even Garland can knock it game down a few pegs.

  • Yessss fantasia :D
