Mages Supporting Xbox One With Chaos;Child

By Spencer . May 26, 2014 . 10:50pm

Mages released many of their visual novels including titles in the Science Adventure series like Robotics;Notes for Xbox 360. The trend will continue on Xbox One.

Chaos;Child, the fourth game in the Science Adventure series, is in development for Xbox One. The game takes place in Shibuya, six years after the events in Chaos;Head Noah. Chaos;Child will be in full HD on Xbox One and uses four different shaders to create subtle differences in the atmosphere.

Chaos;Child is slated for release in 2014.

Can’t wait for this to never be translated. And I can’t wait for this to be released on PS4 with more content and a higher resolution, and still not get translated.

    • Altin

You forgot the obligatory handheld port which – surprise – wont get translated either.

      • darke

Eventually it will be ported to PC, where it might finally be translated by JAST? :)

If Chaos;Head Noah is any indication..nope. Unless they’re up for the mobile version.

          • darke

Wouldn’t surprise me if they would be. Last I’d heard the reason they don’t do console translations is the overhead cost of dev kits, licences and certification. iOS/Android dev tools range from essentially free to around $1500 so it it’s much more likely (though still unlikely) they’d translate that then a normal console port.

Recently, 5pb./MAGES doesn’t seem to release PC ports of their VNs anymore.

It better be. It’s on an American console. It’s the PS4 release that might get us boned.

Being an American console has pretty much no weight here.
X360 is an American console too and has plenty of Japanese visual novels, but mostly the PC-versions of those games were translated in to English (Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head being the exeptions and getting an iOS/Android fan-patch), and only a handfull of those were official releases instead of fan-translations.

lol biggest problem with this announcement is it being on xbox one. Microsoft has not exactly been forthcoming or even hinted at an interest in trying a vn style of game for the western audience so western audiences can be sure to never see anything like this on that system ever.

That’s great XB1 is region free too. I beat steinsgate and robotics notes on the 360, need to go back to finally finish chaos head noah. Still have so many mages vns on backlog :(

I never understood the point of making Japanese games for the Xbox, most of the Anime/JRPG/Visual Novel lovers are on the Sony systems….

    • James Reilly

It’s called competition. PS may still be dominant in terms of controlling the Japanese centric games, but XB1 is developing it’s own lineup which so far consisting of VN titles which the old 360 did similar before.

Pretty sad to see it being on xbone. This and D4 only interest me for it so far. Hopefully there will be some streams on niconico when it comes out.
