    >Pasycho-pass game
    yaay! :D

    >Gen Urobuchi supervising the project
    Hell yeah! :D

    >X-Box One
    . . .

    • tubers

Uses Kinect and Smartphone.. Game Over!

    • Razzlero

It’ll probably get ported to ps4 eventually. .. but unfortunately will probably never come out I english.

    • CozyAndWarm

Looks like you might be getting an Xbox One in the future then

  • Whaaaaat? Just finished the anime.

  • landlock

Seems like Nitroplus like the XboxOne at least. Then again they supported the XB360 as well.

  • DragKudo

The xbox one would be a good visual novel system.

    • Thatguy

      Using Kinect. In eroge. Right?

      • DragKudo

Xbox caress Hitomi’s breast for affection points.

        • Juan Andrés Valencia

          “Upload to twitter?”

      • That guy

Yeah Boss and then the kinect would record you doing that and upload it to your social media site.

        • Thatguy

Because if not, it’s not a XboxOne!

      • Juan Andrés Valencia

The closest thing the Xbox One or PS4 could get to a full on eroge is probably Gal*Gun 2 and guess what? It’s probably never going to exist. At least they aren’t porting Monster Girl Quest or Euphoria with Kinect support, picture the horror.

        • Thatguy

… Actually, i would like to try that.

          • Juan Andrés Valencia

Monster Girl Quest or Euphoria with Kinect support? Or Gal*Gun 2? Either way… dear god.

  • Impressionnant

There’s a typo in the summary of this article (or whatever you call it. The blurb on the front page). It says
“The Psycho-Pass game with have an original story and a new protagonists.”
    Should be “will have”.

  • Afternoon Intergalactic

Loved the anime. Wish I could experience the game but I don’t (and won’t ever) own an xbox console.

    • fyi1191

      there’s always videos online.

  • Xbox hate for no reason lol. People need to get out of the console war mindset.

    • Shippoyasha

Yep. Very surprised to hear there’s some interesting projects down the pipeline. If they do a good job, then that’s great for gaming as a whole. I wouldn’t mind getting an Xbox One if it gets the games.

      • Bio438

I feel the same. As long as it has the games that I want, I’m willing to buy the console.

        • Saraneth

The problem is that the Xbox One will probably only have a handful of games that I might be interested in. It won’t be enough to be worth buying the console, but it will be enough to annoy me that I haven’t played those games yet. I might pick one up in five years when the price goes down significantly.

        • rurifan

Once there’s a few games I will buy one (still would like to play Titanfall a little), but for me the biggest complaint is yet another console taking up space and A/V connections. Without BC these things are really piling up…

    • Morricane

Actually it is “I don’t have (insert random console here) but I want this game”-hate D:

    • CozyAndWarm

It’s the same as the Wii U. When the system doesn’t get a game: “lol no games and no support, never buying that crappy system!”
When the system gets games they want: “NOOO why is the system getting games I want?? Still refuse to buy that crappy system”

      • rurifan

In their defense, it is a crappy system.
People want games on the best system they own.

        • Herok♞

Has more power than PS3 and a unique control system and its still a crappy system, I guess there is no pleasing everyone

          • Spider-Man

There’s nothing impressive about being a little more powerful than a 7 year old console.

          • Herok♞

The point is the PS3 isn’t a crappy system, because something new shiny is out, just like the NES or Playstation, if we are going by the power argument the PS3 just had Last of Us which blew everyone away. So to have anything more powerful then that is good, then again I don’t care about power. Wii is one of my favorite systems despite how weak it is.

          • rurifan

PS3 was always a crappy system. TLOU ran at less than 30fps at all times.

You can have great games on bad systems, but great games are greatest on the best systems. (Yay TLOU being ported to PS4 so we can play it in style! :)

        • PreyMantis

How is it a crappy system?

          • rurifan

            I think you know.

          • PreyMantis

No, I don’t. Explain it to us.

          • rurifan

Google each console’s specs, you’ll find plenty of information that you’ve somehow stayed ignorant of for years.

          • PreyMantis

And how does that make a system crappy? If you’re going to tell me “dem graphix,” just stop. Graphics don’t make a game, and never will.

          • rurifan

It seems you’ve lost track of what this thread is about in your platform fanboy zeal.

          • PreyMantis

Have I? You can’t even explain why the console is crappy; and now, you’re deluding in your own filthy fantasy that I am a one company fanboy just because you can’t support your claim. Just stop, it’s the best for both of us.

          • rurifan

See my posts above, no need to repeat anything.

    • Lilburrito

I’m more so wondering the reason as to “why” it’s on there in the first place rather than blindly hating the fact that it’s there. The Xbox brand was never strong in Japan, if anything you’d expect these types of games to come to the PS3 instead. It’s unless whatever idea they’ve conceptualized here for the gameplay mechanics just go hand in hand with what the Xbox One offers. But other than that, I just don’t understand it. :/

      • Ladius

5pb, like Cave, had a good relationship with Microsoft since the last generation, so it’s likely they made some kind of partnership to build a Japanese lineup for Xbox One by catering to the same visual novel niche that helped X360 to survive in Japan (alongside the shmup niche, another cornerstone of that strategy).

That said, considering past 5pb exclusives on X360, those new projects are likely to be timed exclusives with a PC andor consolehandheld port developed later like for Chaos;Head Noah or Steins;Gate.

    • Ladius

The main issue I see with third party Japanese exclusive for Xbox One, especially ones that have an hard time being localized like visual novels, is that they are a big risk in terms of sales for their publishers, unless the partnership with Microsoft (provided there is one) is enough to cover their costs.

X360 had some time to build an user base in Japan before PS3 came out, and while it ended up failing in terms of hardware sales it also had the best shmup lineup in the seventh generation (enough to justify importing a J-X360, at least) and one of the best visual novel lineups before vns started migrating to PSP, PS3 and PSVita.

Xbox One, on the other hand, will be out months after PS4 in a market where consoles have been losing market shares to handhelds and smartphones for years, and with PS4 itself struggling in Japan because of the lack of support it’s difficult to imagine Xbox One doing better, even ignoring worldwide sales trends.

Then again, games from 5pb and Nitroplus tend to be timed exclusives (like Chaos;Head Noah, Steins;Gate or the Phantom of Inferno remake, all of which were released on X360 only to be ported to other platforms), so they could bring them to PC or other consoles or handhelds in due time if the partnership allows it.

      • rurifan

xbox360’s saving grace in the Japanese visual novel and bullethell genres was being easy for PC developers to make games for. Meanwhile th PS3 architecture was obnoxiously convoluted. Those kinds of games are not known for the level of coding prowess involved.

Xbone doesn’t have much advantage over PS4 in programming simplicity this time, so I have trouble imagining why any Japanese developer would bother. Perhaps for a small studio it’s worth taking funding from Microsoft to make games exclusive until the PS4 enhanced version comes out in a year.

  • British_Otaku

Sounds pretty dope, of course it isn’t on my system of choice (3DS, Wii U, PC) but given that the system is region free and already has Sunset Overdrive (almost sounds like a JoJo attack) looking good, I may get an Xbox One sooner than later.

  • Joseph Fontana

ehhhhhhhh xbox one im fine with (not really) rather have it on handheld/pc/multiplatform. But kinect AND smartphone BS?…..”FUCK” is the only thing that comes to mind…unless it does something neat with the psycho pass and hue’s but my doubt is super high.

  • Göran Isacson

Kinda curious if this means “visual novel” or a more traditional “video gamey” game. Running around solving pre-crime in dystopian Tokyo would be pretty neat, I admit.

  • Go2hell66

    visual novel?

  • DyLaN

Well, its Nitroplus and MAGES/5pb. so its most likely a VN. But they are some of the best VN devs in the industry and not to mention Gen is also there to superwise it.

More importantly, will this have the anime art or will they hire Akira Amano to draw the spirites/CGs? If its the later….. *drool*

    • Ecchitori-san

Ughh.. You just have to? *cleans puddle of drool*

  • Kaitou21

I swear if this is just another visual novel or something (which it probably is) I will be a very angry camper (teh anime to game adaptations plz no more,) although I’m already pretty sure it’s a visual novel type game tbh or something of the like. I won’t be getting my hopes up for this game and especially for a localization and/or port.

    • Ladius

It will likely be an original visual novel set in the same setting, since the main character is a new one. Urobuchi Gen and Nitroplus are visual novel developers, after all. You’re definitely right about its chances to be localized, though.

  • Kelechuckuw K.c.W

sweet i saw these series recently and it was pretty good and I’m waiting on the sequel too.

  • MrJechgo

Why…? Why on the XBOX One?

This game is clearly marketed for fans of the anime, which are mostly in Japan, a place where the XBOX One doesn’t sell much.

Would it kill them to go for the PS4 instead? At least they’ll have a better install base.

    • CozyAndWarm

PS4 doesn’t sell much in Japan either

      • Ecchitori-san

This. Japanese don’t like to jump to a next-gen console immediately.

        • MrJechgo

They don’t jump into western consoles either…

          • CozyAndWarm

The PS4 at this point is basically a western console.

The similarities between the PS4 and XB1 as far as Japan goes are a lot more extensive than the 360 and PS3 imo. Consoles in general are on a depressing decline over there.

    • Bio438

Microsoft would of given them an incentive that out weighs the negatives of launching on the Xbox one, Microsoft benefit from selling units because of the game. At least that’s how it usually goes.

    • Herok♞

Going by the install base argument then they would just put the game on Wiiu

      • MrJechgo

Which outsold the X360 in Japan a while back…

  • Ladius

I loved Psycho Pass, and this could turn out to be one really exciting visual novel provided it has the same scope as the original series. I hope the Kinect and smartphone functionalities are optional or at least not intrusive, though. It will be interesting to see if those 5pbNitroplus exclusives are timed like some of their early games on X360 or if they will stay on Xbox One.

    • Bio438

I don’t see kinect as being forced as I’m assuming most people will buy the kinectless version.

  • Guest

    Kinect. Lol.

  • Kornelious

I don’t understand the point of Third party games being exclusive to one system

    • CozyAndWarm

It motivates players to choose one particular console over another. If the developer feels comfortable working with the console maker or if the console maker provides some benefits for working with them, all the better.

    • PreyMantis

      Incentives to buy that system.

  • fairysun

    Great anime!
For one who is tired of fantasy setting, this is a nice change.

  • Nice Boat Quatro

  • anarchy_panty

yfw this just turns out to be a new Japanese translation of The Minority Report.

  • Yan Zhao

I love how the only Xbox One games I happen to give a damn about are Japan only with almost 0 chance of being localized. Yet the only reason I prefer PS4 is because Im more interested in Japanese games.

    • Zack

Don’t worry. I’m sure all these games will get PS4 ports eventually. The only reason they’re announced as XBOne games is because Microsoft signed a short-term contract with these devs to get their console sales up in Japan. .

      • Ladius

It’s very likely considering how previous 5pb X360 exclusives were ported to PC and other platforms, especially for Chaos;Child since the Science series has a big following and has been a multiplatform franchise for years.

Psycho Pass could be ported at least to PC depending on sales, while Mystereet could stay an exclusive considering Asada’s direct involvement. Still too early to say, of course.

  • EQeE

5pb always releases updated ports on Playstation consoles. I don’t believe that it’s going to be Xbox One only. Mages is 5pb and 5pb make visual novels only.

  • Kroz

psychopass would make a cool game, and there is a lot of x box hate in the comments. But isnt it more confusion, i mean most anime or japanese games in general look in sony’s direction first before microsoft. Im actually just as suprised at this as i was when tales of vesperia was announced for the 360.

  • Ni ~Algidus~

should i wait for the inevitable ps4 port?

  • Fanorootbeer

You lost me at new protagonists.

  • Alexandra Cordes

    You had me at Nitro+.

  • Wait wait wait, let me guess… don’t say it…!

    Oh wait, Nitroplus…………………………….!
