Recently in Japan, Capcom, with the help of Hexadrive, ported Monster Hunter Freedom Unite to iOS devices. This version of the game is now coming to the West.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on iOS will feature HD resoluion visuals, co-op multiplayer via Wi-Fi for up to four players, and new touch-screen optimized controls.

You can see how the iOS version of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite stacks up against the original PSP version in terms of visuals in this post.

Man think about the control issues with this

    • JonathanisPrimus

      Buy a $100 iPhone controller.

      • RawrWata

Only for the game to work on the D-Pad.

      • Kaitou21

Try $20+ they aren’t that expensive but a PSP is still obviously the best option.

IIRC the official iOS controllers with wide support are $100. Android ones are cheaper, but MHFU isn’t out legitimately on Android. Capcom’s Japanese MHFU iOS site had it attached to some Logitech device.

    • Dude.. Welcome..

you would actually be surprised. i was skeptical too, having played other monster hunter titles as well as this one prior to checking out the patched japanese app, and i actually found the controls in this port to be MORE comfortable than the controls in the PSP version (but mostly because of the ole’ ‘camera claw’ situation). the controls in this, surprisingly, work fantastically and don’t compromise the experience of the game at all (though, believe me, your doubt isn’t unreasonable)

    • Dude, do you even claw?

  • Naail Zahid

Well if you are going to take a PSP game and release it on iOS, atleast release it on Android…

    • I know that Capcom has been releasing games on iOS in the west before. Have they done that on the Android? I don’t think I can find one, which is actually disappointing. :(

  • 하세요

Hell I’d rather take those cute felyne related games on mobile ._.’

  • ddh819

how much should we expect this will be on the app store?

  • xPhoenixMoon

PSP version, on PS Vita = Bliss.

    • SolRevr

No doubt. Right stick = D-pad

  • Go2hell66

any way i can port my psp save? cuz i’m not starting 800 hours of hunting from scratch

  • Skeledon

I don’t know. It seems appealing for me since I’ll be working a crappy 11 hour shift at work every Saturday. I may get it.

    • Dude.. Welcome..

personally, i highly recommend it (after playing the PSP version and then the japanese app with an english patch)

  • Shadowman

Sweet, oh wait another iOS d’oh

  • straightthrucru

Wow wow. I wasn’t too keen on this but the infrastructure mode sounds super useful! Here’s hoping the controls are manageable.

  • raeldor

Holy moly, this thing was hard enough on the PSP, I can’t imagine playing it with a soft-joystick.

  • SMT

I wonder if they fixed Plesioth’s famous “hipcheck”… those hitboxes were crazy compared to 3rd generation and onwards.

I normally don’t mind iOS titles, and the Wi-Fi would probably make it a worthy investment… but I’m personally going to skip this, as I’ve spent too much time on the original, and I’d rather wait for MH4U, even though it’s still a very long wait…

  • NickyArmstrong

The one on the left is a larger screen, yet less of it is visible. This is the difference between designing for mobile and not bothering because you expect them to buy an expensive controller.

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

The controls look nightmarish. Wouldn’t this be more playable on the PSP? (Even with the camera issues)

  • SetzerGabbiani

This is not a game I would play on a smartphone. Ignoring control issues, the battery life on my phone and tablet would evaporate quickly.

  • I wants it, But I think I’d have to get a controller

Jeebuz. dont you guys have anything better to do then to fucking whine and bitch about a platform you have no interest in.

You make yourself look like asshats
