Atlus recently revealed the latest of playable characters with Adachi and his Magatsu-Izanagi as a DLC character in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. While waiting for further details on Adachi, we get to take another look at Persona 4’s Yukiko Amagi and Yosuke Hanamura in action.

Yukiko’s video starts out with her laughing, which quickly turns into concern for Akihiko, looking pretty beat up. She is also shown telling Yu, “No way?! Adachi-san?” followed by exclaiming that she can become stronger because she has something to protect.

While the video shows her beating up enemies with Konohana Sakuya, she talks about a red mist engulfing the entire city, then asks, “What exactly is your purpose?” The trailer ends with her Shadow-type variant saying “If you’re not my prince, then why don’t you just die?”

Meanwhile, Yosuke’s video starts out with him thanking customers for shopping at Junes. He tells Teddie, “I didn’t hear about it starting before midnight, and a countdown? Is it New Year’s Eve or something?” He also tells Akihiko that he won’t allow his friend to murder and will stop them at all costs.

During the combat part, he’s shown putting his dexterity to good use together with his Persona Jiraiya. The video ends with Yosuke’s Shadow-type saying, “Isn’t that too bad? I’m the hero.”

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be released this Fall in North America for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Did they change Maragidyne? It looks like a screen wide floor attack now

    • Afternoon Intergalactic

That’s the SB version of the super. It takes 75 meter but takes up the whole screen.

  • friendly neighborhood_dude

I’m loving those new backgrounds. Wish September would come faster :(

  • LordHyper

When could we expect an Adachi trailer? We got the Ken trailer pretty quickly after his reveal, so…

    • indices

Next week. he’s already up on the site as a ‘new comer’, which is how they had Ken the week before they put up his trailer.

      • http://shadious.tumblr.com/ Vince

So… With that development, there’s no longer vacant box or slot at the site, thereby slimming down the P3MC/Makoto Yuki’s appearance?

        • DeathTurn

          Not really.

If the 37 DLC cards are anything to go by, there is possibility of at least ONE MORE character. With all the cards being playable characters thus far, it is reasonable to assume #36 and #37 will be either: a single character and their shadow type, or two separate characters.

Take the amount of characters we have now, double it and minus the amount of characters who don’t have Shadow mode (Both Shos, Liz, Shadow Labby and apparently Adachi) and you get 35. Adachi, the latest addition to the roster, is entry No. 35.

          http://www.inside-games.jp/imgs/zoom/483510.jpg

Either the remaining 2 are not characters or there’s at least one more character. But unlike after Ken’s reveal where there was still a “coming soon” box, there is none now so maybe they’re deliberately hiding the existence of this potential character (or characters).

It should also be noted that Makoto’s BGM (“Burn My Dread -Last Battle-”) is the ONLY battle song missing from Ultimax’s tracklist so far. Formerly, “A New World Fool” (Adachi’s theme) was missing up until his reveal. That could be hinting at something.

Basically what I am saying is, there is is a big chance Makoto is the final character to be unveiled if #36 and #37 are playable characters like No.1-No.35.

Also, why would you think ATLUS would reveal Makoto as a playable character this early? I knew instantly last week Adachi was going to be the last big reveal on that site (at least for while.)

Take that website with a grain of salt for now.

Ok Atlus! Just need Margaret, and Fuuka! Go! Go! Go!

      And Theodore. And Nyarlathotep.

  • urbanscholar

I salute you captain resentment & your footsies. Seriously high level brosuke is phenomenal

    • Afternoon Intergalactic

High level yosuke gives me nightmares…. especially since yukiko lacks a reliable anti-air.

  • DarkLight

Shouldn’t the title of this be “Persona 4 Arena Ultimax” or “Persona 4 The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold” instead of “Persona 4 Arena”?Just me nitpicking

    • Sato

      D’oh, you’re right! Fixed :P

  • Afternoon Intergalactic

They changed up Yukiko’s playstyle quite a bit by giving her another special move to replace agi as a combo ender. She’s my main so I welcome the additional damage/options, but it’ll be hard to get out of the agi keep-away mindset. I’m too excited for this game!

    • God

As a Akihiko main, i hate you.

      • James Reilly

You will probably hate Yukari and Naoto more lol

        • God

Meh, you can block Naoto’s shots as you approach, Yukiko can attack from pretty much anywhere and in score attack, with that constant Fire Break, it was pretty much impossible to beat her, and Kanji, and Mitsuru, and Elizabeth and Yu, and Yosuke and… well, pretty much anyone.

      • Afternoon Intergalactic

Don’t worry, Kanji’s got it worse than you (although, not by much…) If you ever want to crap on a Yukiko player, though, just learn S. Labrys. Now THAT matchup is hell..

        • God

Meh, i usually use Yu or Yosuke, after they waste their burst i hit them non stop, since she is not good on close quarters, they die pretty fast.

          • Afternoon Intergalactic

Dealing with pressure is part of playing Yukiko. If you block their mixups and capitalize on unsafe moves they’re back to the other side of the screen. If you can’t, it’s as you said. Same goes for any zoning character really.

  • God

Shouldn’t their shadows represent different complexes than they did before? Is there a plot related reason why they are the same? Or where they simply too lazy to it?

    • James Reilly

Those shadows are not legit shadows especially since they use personas.

      • Jedahaw

Really? But, what about Persona 2? The Shadow Selves has reversed personas.

        • James Reilly

In P4 they explain that the personas are their accepted shadows and specifically in P4A the characters point out the strange contradictory of encountering the fake shadows utilizing personas when usually that shouldn’t be the case. In this game it was confirmed that these shadows are again “fakes” most likely the product of the strange red night.

          • God

That’s just what the character assume, i always thought it was jut beacuse of their complete lack of knowledge about psychology, maybe in this game they could realise it was just an assumption and that their shadows and personas can coexist. Also, these shadows don’t use personas.

Would you mind giving a source of where you heard they were fake?

        • Mr_SP

In Eternal Punishment, those Shadows are created by Nyarlathotep. The ones in Innocent Sin can be presumed to be the same thing – at a minimum, they’re unique to the party in a way that implies that they’re not a normal occurrence like they are in P4. They’re surely not real Shadows – a Shadow and a Persona are the same thing, it just matters who’s in control.

  • http://shadious.tumblr.com/ Vince

I believe once all of the P4 casts’ trailers are shown, Adachi’s would be unveiled.

  • IS | 桂木

Can we talk about how Narukami’s willing to commit murder for a second?

    • Jedahaw

I’m just guessing, but it might be Narukami’s Shadow.

  • Dammitbobnotagain

Mmm…bound legal aged Akihik-I mean, neat gameplay footage!
