Phantasy Star Nova Trailer Shows Us How The Story Begins

By Sato . June 9, 2014 . 1:25am

Last week, we got some details on Phantasy Star Nova and how it will borrow elements from Phantasy Star Online, with the concept of “survival” behind the game’s making. The latest trailer gives us a closer look at the setting and a bit on the story.

The trailer starts out with a look at the Delta Variant warship about to land on the planet Machia, a place where photons don’t have any effects whatsoever. However, it looks like they’re not exactly greeted with a friendly welcome as they attempt to land.

They somehow manage to land on Machia, but it doesn’t look like things will be getting any easier for the crew, as they have to find a way to survive in this mysterious planet, all while facing giant missile-shooting enemies, and more.

Phantasy Star Nova will be released in 2014 for PlayStation Vita.

    I’m sold

      Ah I missed those guys.

Suffice to say, I’m sold as well.

  • Shippoyasha

Tri Ace just knows how to make these gorgeous interstellar cutscenes. Say what people about Star Ocean 4, but the cutscenes with space ships is just stunning.

    • Kai2591

I’ve been waiting for another space sci-fi game by Tri-Ace. They should focus more on this genre. Star Ocean The Last hope wasn’t perfect, but I LOVE the battle System I was so addicted to it.

    • Slayven19

I would love to say something about star ocean 5. However it doesn’t exist yet so I can’t criticize it.

      • Shippoyasha

Dang. You’re right. SO4 I meant. Still hoping SO5 is possible. I wish they didn’t trap themselves into a corner plotwise.

        • Ferrick

well they can always go with the new world, though hope that they tone down the whole UP3 schtick

  • tonyp1987

I just wish they bring the psp star oceans to vita I would be happy

  • Stephen Mc Devitt

Will be another multiplayer game like the rest or will it be like the old Genesis games?

  • dragoon_slayer12

Tri-Ace is my favorite developer, and from what I know of, all their games make it to NA, so I wouldn’t be surprised this releases before PSO2

    Phantasy Star Ocean Nova

  • Since this game has a standalone gameplay, I’m sold! I really like the character design on this series! Let’s hope for a localization!

    • Renaldi Saputra

“We’re still on development on bringing Phantasy Star Nova to the western region. So we’ll give some info about any upcoming updates as soon as possible”

      says SEGA 3 years later

      • Takane Shijou

        That’s pretty optimistic.

They haven’t updated anything in nearly two years. If we do get a word from them, it’s that.

          • Kari

Sega doesn’t love the Western world

  • Kornelious

Really digging the stle and character direction so far….Hopefully Sega will actually localize this one >:(

  • eilegz

    meanwhile in sega america… sigh

  • leingod

Nice! Hope there’s some Star Ocean cross-costumes or quests or something. And hope it makes it to the US…

  • DS23

If this got brought over I’d play it. Hell even if it’s not I may stumble through anyway.

  • Kari

I would usually say , who cares . However this game is made by TRI-ACE the same folks who made Star Ocean! Which means its going to be better than Sega team ><
