Details On Final Fantasy Explorers’ First Four Jobs

By Sato . June 16, 2014 . 3:40am

Square Enix recently announced Final Fantasy Explorers, an upcoming multiplayer action game, and the first hunting-style game from the Final Fantasy series. The game’s official website shares some details on the jobs that have been announced thus far.

Knights are well-balanced in offense and defense. In addition to their offensive prowess, they specialize in defensive abilities that can be used for guarding.

Similar to the roles they’ve had in past Final Fantasy games, Monks are all about physical attacks. They have low defense but make up for it with high vitality and the ability to rush down enemies with waves of attacks.

Black Mage:

Black Mages are experts at offensive magic. Using their high-powered magic attacks, they can attack enemies from a long range. If they’re anything like the Black Mages we’ve come to know, they will likely be the “glass cannon” types that can pack quite the punch.

White Mage:

And finally, the White Mage job that saves lives with heals and power up allies with supportive abilities. You’ll probably want one of these around to stay alive against tough foes.

Final Fantasy Explorers is currently in development for Nintendo 3DS.

  • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

Hmm…I’m guessing there will be more classes to come in time.

  • Shady Shariest

I would like to hear the reasoning behind monks using claws -_-‘
They aren’t part of Spanish Inquisition, are they?

    • lackofstyle

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition.

      • Shady Shariest

Was expecting for that. Thank you.

  • James Enk

need to hear more before i get excited for this

  • Hector Velar

then again, no thief yet?! <:(

  • Namuro

The Black Mage sure is colorful!

    • fyi1191

      We need more Vivi.

    • Virevolte

Well, his magic is black. He could totally dress in pink if he wanted. ^^

  • legotetris

The job design fondly reminds me of ROSE Online.

  • Virevolte

I long for a game like the first Crystal Chronicles.

    • Aemette

I’d buy each of my siblings a 3DS and a copy of this game so that I could play this game with four people whenever I wanted without having to rely too much on people over Wi-Fi.

  • fyi1191

    Final job, Onion Knight.

    • ishyg

Will leave the Summons crying, or at least your party.
Maybe add a Squire to the mix, for the tutorial.

  • 3PointDecoupage

    Come on, Blue Mage!

    • ZnTxn

      >Blue Mage in a hunting game
I didn’t know how much I wanted this!

    • J_Joestar

Hit me with your best sho- wait… i don’t learn that one… *runs*

  • Come on bring it to the west.

  • Freud_Hater

    A.K.A. The usual starter jobs.

    • sebastianandresparraguezcruzat

Without the Red Mage and the Thief

      • Freud_Hater

Yep. Which makes it worse, really.

  • Kornelious

Hopefully they will have an awesome Dual-Weilding class!…..Please?….

  • Draparde

man, there is so much potential for this game. FF has so many jobs, and so many summons and monsters it could take from.

i’m personally hoping for some RPG elements, LV’s learning skills/spells..ect.

maybe traits for jobs, and allowing you to mix em up like Bravely default/FFT, or sub jobs like XI….

i’m just dreaming at that point though. regardless i await more info and gameplay

    • Aspenharls

I feel like this game would benefit from a job tree. Maybe these could be the base classes, and you have to level in a skill tree to get more.

      • Draparde

That would be pretty sweet. And would kinda give this game a different type of progression than the other in the hunting style field.

  • SMT

I bet Ninjas are going to be overpowered in this one too :P

  • fairysun

    Cecil, Yang, Palom and Porom.

    • They look like they work at the Vatican. XD

      • Go2hell66

        • Do an image search for Vatican guards or Swiss guards and see what comes up.

          • X_Bacon

TIL Vatican guards dress like clowns

  • Enzo

So Steiner, Amarant, Vivi, and Garnet

    • Nanaki

Eiko really. Towards the latter half of the game Garnet & Eiko switch roles as far as their job class is concerned, and Eiko’s trance being Double White supports this.

  • Zazon Zenzy

Hunting-type game!? Can I expect no levels from this game, equipment reliant?

  • 하세요

With Square Enix, at this point it’s more of just “Which jobs won’t make the cut in this game.” We all know the FF jobs. Still hyped as hell.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

how about races? I want to play as Viera

    • 하세요

If they want to stay true to the exclusive regions, this game would have to be set in Ivalice for Viera. Thought I wouldn’t be against them breaking that as Viera are badass as hell.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

It would be awesome to play as other races. But I have a bad feeling its just going to be human :/ but anything could happen

        • aizen310

          Viera is love.
          My love :3

    • SerChief

      o hellzyea

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

    • Neckbear

      I want Lilty. So bad.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

        the tall version of short

  • KoRLumen

    They look so cute! :D

  • Go2hell66

    Dark Knight or GTFO

  • Pretty standard so far. But the monk is the most badass between them.

  • Onizuka Gio Hikari

I’m excited to see how this will turn out. All I need is a samurai class.

  • Summoner! I really hope there’s a summoner *crosses fingers*

  • jeof96

The only way to dominate enemies in a hunting-genre is to drop your defense and focus on Attack & Skills.
    Thus, Black Mages= Adrenaline/Heroics GS/HBG Users

  • SetzerGabbiani

Calling it now, the Thief class will be essential for getting multiple super rare materials, but it will be hard to keep him/her alive.

    • E.T.993

Calling it now: because these Super Materials will be hard to get, Square Enix will offer them up to everyone…as DLCs.

  • LastManStanding

I plan to use White Mage so that people would BEG for me in multiplayer.

    • Vash bane

I shall resist your temptation :/

  • KanjiLikesBoys

yesssss give all the bufffs and Debuffs to the white mage!! Blind, Mini, Paralysis Toad! CONTROL ALL THE CROWDS

  • Chip

    C’mon! Thieves! Give me thieves!

  • .:Raphællius:.

Looks a lot like FF: Crystal Chronicles

  • ネオフォトン ~ Neo

I’d be down for a Dragoon addition to the game. Always been my class of choice in FF. If not, Monk it is!

  • Yaggyu

Might get it since their trying something new

  • Dystopiq

An MH style game but set with in the FF mythos? Count me in.

  • Happy to see that Square Enix is still working with Nintendo.

    • ishyg

Not happy with their lack of fayth with Sony though.

  • Vash bane

o.O wow that’s interesting wait so does this mean…no I don’t think chronicles could be considered that style too (I mean you collect items to make items but you attach items to increase your max stats at the end of a stage)?

  • aizen310

So little handheld Nintendo gets all the medieval FF love while big console Sony gets the tired cyberpunk theme all the time.

    • Spicydicey

Cyberpunk can be good. Both 7 and 8 could be considered cyberpunk maybe?

      • Anon-non

I’d say 7 is more steampunk. 13’s more cyberpunk than any other FF.

  • Spicydicey

I’m hoping for all the obscure Tactics style classes like Orator and Green Mage!

  • Believe the hype? Looks awesome! TAKE MY MONEY!!
