See Japanese Game Magazines Turned Into Ultra Dimension Action Neptunia U Fighters

By Spencer . June 16, 2014 . 10:33pm

Ultra Dimension Action Neptunia U has two guests from the video game industry that aren’t publishers or genre parodies. The action game spinoff includes Famitsu and Dengekiko as playable characters.

Famitsu looks like she embodies characteristics like the giant white gloves from Necky the Fox, Famitsu’s mascot. Dengekiko is holding Polytan, Dengeki PlayStation’s mascot, who was also in Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity.

Dengekiko is a game journalist who is described as honest and has a casual way about writing news reports. Famitsu is also a game journalist who really likes interesting games, but has trouble selecting what games are interesting.

Ultra Dimension Action Neptunia U is slated for release on August 28 on PlayStation Vita.

That’s cause that screenshot is from phantasy star portable infinity, as it said in the article. It was just showing how polytan was used in that game

        Thanks!

“Dengekiko is holding Polytan, Dengeki PlayStation’s mascot, who was also in Phantasy Star Portable 2: Infinity.”

      Did you read?

They’ve already shown screens of the game. It looks like Senran Kagura: Shinobi Versus.
Probably because the same developer is involved.

“Famitsu is also a game journalist who really likes interesting games, but has trouble selecting what games are interesting.”
Count on gijinka to turn major frustrations into moe points.

    • Armane

I thought that was a pretty sly insult about how Famitsu’s rating system no longer has any integrity.

    • http://playstationallstars.wikia.com/wiki/PlayStation_All-Stars_Wiki Sackchief

Well, they don’t give the games good reviews even though they based an entire character off of their crap magazine. I don’t blame them for making that description.

      • notentirelythere

I meant it in a straight-forward way. I think it’s spot on and genuinely cute as a char concept.

  • Liamv2

Oh this is so cool. (Still hoping for tsundere IGN)

  • John Hayabusa

    They look pretty cute.

  • TheGioG

The impossibly adorable Sting-chan’s the only other new lady added that I know of, but she isn’t really a personified gaming magazine. I get the feeling I’m missing someone else though…

There’s no space left in the character section. So unless she’s a DLC character I don’t think we’ll be seeing her… or IF, or anyone else.

      • Landale

Their character spacing on their sites is unreliable for gauging character count. They redid Fairy Fencer F’s character section repeatedly and Noire’s game has an unused character spot.

      • uh sting is a dlc character from Gekishin black heart

    • but sting is not in this game….

  • Slickyslacker

…Okay, as much as I dislike Compile Heart, this is too cute.

  • dark-kyon

    based tsunako.

  • Shady Shariest

Famitsu looks like an abandoned Kingdom Hearts-character!

    • wererat42

      Not enough belts.

      • Shady Shariest

        Rookie mistake!
Maybe she has a Rambo-cosplay with a belt as a headband?

    • revenent hell

When I saw the gloves I thought of Ronald McDonald. I have no idea why.

  • revenent hell

I’m still up in the air with this game…..
While I enjoy the Neptunia games I kind of think the “hype” for them is overblown and don’t hold faith that these “spin offs” will be anything besides average…

The character designs this artist comes up with are always super cute. I wonder if it’s a fun change of pace for them to be tasked with designing a character based on a brand/item/character instead of just a theme or archetype? I feel like that’d be fun!

That said… all signs are pointing to this game being mediocre at best. Screenshots lead me to believe it’s yet another half-assed Dynasty Warrior’s rip-off, and that the game will look like manufactured butt.

    • Landale

That bottom right one isn’t for the game. It’s to point out Dengekiko’s thing. Please read.

      • Guest

I’m not referring to that particular screenshot. Please read.

        • Landale

Editing your post to hide your mistake doesn’t make it go away.

        • darke

Huh? As to this: “… that screenshot at the bottom-right looks like manufactured butt.”

The only bottom-right screenshot I see is this one: http://www.siliconera.com/postgallery/?p_gal=407094|3 which is the PSP-game one. Are we reading the same article?

        • WhyWai

          LoL, Epic fail.

  • Mr_SP

This could be good for them… or it could backfire horribly.

    Dengeki: 11/10 ^_^!!!
    Compile Heart: ^_^
    Famitsu: Not sure if want.
    Compile Heart: =_=

  • Kornelious

Still hoping for that Silliconera character “Silly” :P

    • Nu Blitz

its perfect. the character can even give wrong info and later fix it

    • darke

      シリちゃんですね〜

      • Kornelious

        Ha! That’s even better :D

        • darke

Only ‘problem’ is シリ is also “bottom” (I vaguely recall the fuss about iOS’s Siri in Japan being amusing for the same reason); so the おシリさま jokes write themselves. :P
