Here’s A Look At Elsword’s Quirky New Character

By Eugene . June 28, 2014 . 9:30am

Add SS (18)

Just as predicted, action brawler MMO Elsword is adding a new character to its lineup with Add. He is the ninth playable character for the game.

Add SS (1) Add SS (11)

Add SS (15) Add SS (16)

Add is a mid-ranged caster, using his Nasod Dynamo to blast away at foes. Add uses a new Dynamo Point system in combat. A DP Gauge slowly fills as he attacks, and at certain thresholds, he’ll be able to turn that into more powerful shots and further his combo moves with DP Mode.

Each time he activates DP Mode adds a new counter to a further mechanic, the DP Counter. That counter then lets him further smack on foes with increased firepower. There’s a trend here.

Add SS (2) Add SS (3)

Add SS (4) Add SS (5)

Add SS (6) Add SS (7)

Of course, if anything gets up close and puffs at him, it’s likely the fragile Add will fall over. Which is why he’s also able to levitate and fly in short bursts for extra mobility.

Add SS (8) Add SS (9)

Add SS (10) Add SS (12)

Add SS (13) Add SS (14)

Add SS (19) Add SS (20)

The poor man can be pitied. A little. You would probably go insane too if you have Add’s backstory: Forced to see his family killed and then trapped within a techno-athenaeum for a thousand years might do that. When he finally escapes, he discovers that the Nasods that he once studied are long gone. All except for the Queen Nasod herself.

He reminds me alot of Gig from soul nomad

  • Kudan

    Is this game any good?

    • kyubey777

It was ok, the quest just making you come back to the dungeon repeatly

    • Aemette

As my friend says, it’s sorta like Super Smash Bros in that the characters are 3D models moving on a 2D background. The character designs are pretty nice and the fighting is pretty good too although you will find that you are pressing the same button over and over again sometimes. I had been playing it alone for a while but recently I’ve started playing with a friend and that makes it a whole lot better. I’d say to watch a few videos of it to see if it sparks your interest or jump right in and see for yourself what it’s all about.

    • Nightmesh

It says its a fighting game but there is an annoying delay between when you hit a button and your character actually doing the attack. It on purpose because you can jump and run and do the platforming just fine but not attacks. So if your okay with that give it a try.

Edit:This was from my 2012 experience. They have fix the delay now.

      • Meseki04 .

Um, what? There isn’t a significant delay on attacking. Attacks may get slightly queued, which could result in doing an attack after you’ve stopped hitting buttons (if you don’t cancel it), but I don’t think there is a notable delay on attacking.

In fact, a lack of any significant delay (along with a lack of delay compensation and being peer-to-peer) results in some weird lag issues such as hitting on your end but the opponent not flinching. That can be gotten used to though, as long as your connection and the opponent’s connection are consistent and the latency isn’t too huge.

        • Nightmesh

There is a delay. I’ve tried the game at several different places thanks to having to move around a lot and I get it no matter were I am. I’m talking about PVE and PVP. The delay is there. Ask on the forums and people will tell you its there. They’ll also tell you to just time your attacks in way in advance and you’ll get use to it. Just don’t look at this game’s combo system and think its a response fighting game. It’s not. Getting use to it is fine but pretending its not there isn’t.

          • Bobby Jennings

            What? There’s no delay..

          • Meseki04 .

Oh, are you talking about after the first attack in a chain?

If so, the way that works is probably because attacks aren’t cancellable on hit. Since the game uses combo chains as opposed to a variety of normals, looping something like ZZX could be annoying if you had to press the button exactly when you were to do the attack, especially when it becomes hard to see your character and/or you get an Attack Speed buff.

But yeah, it’s no more similar to a fighting game than SSB. In Elsword, combo execution is (usually) not hard at all once you get used to it, and the focus is more about movement, catching, and MP management.

          • Nightmesh

No no. I’m talking about something they seem to have fix. I had my pc download it while I sleeping last night. They seem to have changed a lot of a game after I stop playing around 2012. The input delay is gone. They also seem to have changed the skill tree into something more standard. I don’t like that.

  • Highasthesky

I’v been watching too much HXH. I saw white hair and went “KILLUA, NEW HXH GAME” then read the title =(

  • Kristoffer Brandberg

Gig! What are you doing there in that game?!

  • ShinNeoGranzon

So they took Gig or Accelerator and gave him Mu-12′s floating swords/laser things

    • MrTyrant

      Or funnels.

  • Doctor Nebula

Welp time to come back again.

  • Lutfi Ardiansyah

    dat thanatos coffin funnel lol

  • http://vindictushots.tumblr.com/ Okuni-chan

Makes me want ot try this game out.

  • JimJim

    Hello accelerator

    • Land of Green Pasture

      more like Addcelerator to me

  • DanteMasamune

I was told by a friend to check this game out. I want to but the chibi art style rather threw me off (at first) and the gameplay (at least from what I seen) looks like a poor man’s Smash Bros.

Can someone explain to me more about this game and if I should give it a try? I’m already investing my time with Vindictus and GunZ 2: Second Duel and is interested in diving into more niche MMO (well not too niche but anything that isn’t big like LOL or Blizzard stuff).

    • Bobby Jennings

Now that I think about it, it does look like Smash.

I’ve been playing this since the closed beta in korea. The game’s fantastic, its like all my favorite games put into one(Smash Bros, Megaman, Sonic, etc). I don’t even know how to truly explain it but its truly the only MMO I play.

Not even sure if it counts as a MMO honestly.

      • DanteMasamune

        MOBA whatever.

GunZ isn’t an MMO either. I’m down to try any online PC game unless its free and sparks my interest like this one MMO about Chinese martial arts and Fighter’s Club as well as Black Desert (but I’m mostly interested in BD because some girl I like like it…which is the same reason why I gave Vindictus a try and it was the same girl).

        • Bobby Jennings

          I see, makes sense.

          • DanteMasamune

            What does?

          • Bobby Jennings

“I’m down to try any online PC game unless its free and sparks my interest like this one MMO about Chinese martial arts and Fighter’s Club as well as Black Desert (but I’m mostly interested in BD because some girl I like like it…which is the same reason why I gave Vindictus a try and it was the same girl).” This does.

      • DanteMasamune

        Also is it gamepad compatible?

        • Bobby Jennings

          Yes.

          • DanteMasamune

            Thanks

  • Alberto Maytorena

    Well hello Killuarator.

  • Bobby Jennings

Actually he can’t even DP combo yet. Not until his later jobs.

As a Base he’s pretty much terrible.

  • Harvey Tejada Loto

sorry elsword i still love gc

    • Harvey Tejada Loto
