Kemco’s Soul Historica Features Multiple Paths And Endings

By Eugene . July 2, 2014 . 3:00pm

Kemco’s new RPG, Soul Historica, employs a multiple path system. The multiple branching option below hints to where important decisions lie, although it doesn’t seem like there’s any time-travel involved, unlike games such as Radiant Historia.

002 003

Our hero is York, a captain in the Monster Eradication Order of Knights. Early on in the game, he loses the love of his life. Except there now appears to be someone who looks exactly like her with amnesia. Decisions you make in the RPG will alter the ending you get.

Soul Historica’s battle system uses a system called Soul Cage. Everyone, including your own folks, has a soul that can be stolen and then locked into a Soul Cage. Combining different souls together will create classes for characters to adopt, in a semi-freeform class system.

Soul Historica is out now on Android.

It looks their their are only 3 paths at one choice to choose the ending if I am looking at the screen right…

    • FlobotingIt

Hopefully there are more that branch off from those… Like how there are the nine alignments… Maybe it’s just the beginning there? Doubtful, but possibly.

I played one Kemco game, and their are a BUNCH of Kemco rpgs. I don’t think they put to much effort in these. But, let’s hope I am wrong.

I can’t say much about the stories… but from what I’ve seen it’s simply the case that they’re very efficient at recycling and remixing the ‘generic’ bits: the engine, the basic tiles, the mechanics, and so on. And then layering on new unique character images and storyline.

If you’re not remaking most things from scratch, and have a decent base game to work with, it’s actually pretty quick to crank out yet-another-JRPG. It’d be also surprisingly easy to parallelize the process as well: so the story-boarder is working on one game, while the coder is working on the next one, and the artist is working on the one after that, and the writer/scripter is working on the one almost about to be released.

“Early on in the game, he loses the love of his life. Except there now appears to be someone who looks exactly like her with amnesia.”
    What an innovative plot element.

  • Death Saved

At first i was like “KOSMOS!!!” and then i was like “oh its another Kemco game”

  • Armageddon

Im reminded of shadow the hedgehog with this one well how the story goes anyway

  • fyi1191

Some of Kemco JPN games has better art design. Why can’t they share those with us?

  • Slickyslacker

Of the few mobile games I’d ever purchase, this is definitely one.

  • revenent hell

This kind of reminds me of Radiant Historia, I am not to sure why exactly (maybe the name?) but I can honestly say I am interested enough to buy it.

    • PotatoPower

the timeline looks just like the timeline you skip through in in radiant historia

  • God

Seems like fun, and the hero reminds me of Adol, but i don’t have an android smartphone…

  • I was so hyped reading this, and then I got to the part that read “Soul Historica is out now on Android”.

    • Godspoken

I stopped when I read Kemco.

      • Is Kemco that bad of a company or something? I’m not familiar with there work.

  • pekikuubik

You might as well start covering RPGMaker games at this rate.

Then again putting Kemco’s games on the same level is probably an insult to the devs of To The Moon, Skyborn, Millennium etc.

    • Yan Zhao

Are you saying Kemco’s games are inferior or superior to those you named? I dont really follow the RPG maker games but if there are hidden gems I’m unaware of I’d like to hear more :D

  • So it’s basically a Radiant Historia for Android.

    • Lumi

That timeline interface is sooo Radiant Historia

    • Radiant historia story was more centered in the world destiny and political stuff, and had some special out of branches different endings..

This one seems more centered in MC reviving his girl OHH YEAH, wouldnt surprise me if it gets related to the destiny of the world at some point tho
