Escape Trick series maker Intense previously made a game that was reminiscent of Zero Escape, but their latest one called Super Science Escape Story: The Luxury Liner on the Distant Sea sounds like it’ll be quite different from the others. The official website shares more.

Hitomi Akaneno, the 16 year-old female protagonist, has two special powers, clairvoyance and psychokinesis. Players will use these to solve different kinds of puzzles on the ability screen, a first of its kind in Intense’s escape the room games.

After getting an anonymous invitation to a commemorative party held on a luxury cruise liner, Hitomi and her best friend Chisono Shio decided to go with it and attend the party.

Once they entered their designated room, a roaring sound followed by a giant tremble occurred… and they were trapped with no escape.

Was it caused by some sort of accident… or perhaps an incident? This is just the beginning of the story shared by the two psychic girls.

Super Science Escape Story: The Luxury Liner on the Distant Sea will be released in Japan on July 9, 2014 on the Nintendo 3DS eShop for 800 yen.

Yes always wanted a psychic harem!

    (said no one ever ;p)

    • Namuro

There’s no guy in the game, though :D (at least as the main character)

      Unless… You mean a Yuri-Harem. I’m all for that!

    • nonscpo

Can’t count it as a Harem however how about a psychic girlfriend anime: Kotoura-san.

    • darke

My girlfriend keeps claiming I’m psychic since I keep reading her mind, so it seems to be convenient the other way around. I wouldn’t mind a harem that much either. :P

  • RSene

So… the game is what? Adventure? puzzle game?

    • Namuro

Just like any other “Escape” game.

Y’know? Point and click style. Well, you can call it a puzzle game too, I guess.

  • D-Omen

How is setting the game on a luxury cruise ship NOT being reminiscent of Zero Escape (specifically 999)? :P

    • shuyai

well probably because luxury cruise idea is so over used that it became like the basic of basic not something unique to zero escape? same as lone mansion cut off in storm they have been done to death so much it become a staple in mystery novel or are you saying all anime that take place in a school is a copy or reminiscent of a specified anime?

  • CirnoTheStrongest

Now to just hope Aksys doesn’t disappoint!

    • nonscpo

Would be nice of them to pick this one up especially as they’ve stated their interest in supporting Visual Novels in the west.

  • JohnNiles

Clairvoyant, but not clairvoyant enough to avoid being trapped on the ship. o.o

    • Ric Vazquez

      Plot hole!

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

800 yen? Not bad at all. I would love to help them escape if it comes to the Western shores.

  • Shippoyasha

800 yen actually seems way too cheap. Maybe it’s a short episode of a broader content? I really like the sound of this. Reminds of a mix of Detective Conan, Phoenix Wright and other mystery case fiction.

  • Himegami Aisa

Still smacks of Ever17 and 999 for me. Hardly a bad thing, though, in my opinion, and I’ll be interested to see if it holds its own.

  • Kornelious

Huh, usually you don’t get both Clairvoyance AND Psycokinesis….It is a deadly combo indeed! O_O

  • nonscpo

Love the blue haired charachter homage to Phoenix Wrights pose…Objection said the Capcom copyright holder lol.
