By Sato . July 10, 2014 . 10:34pm

Atlus recently announced that Mad Catz are releasing a new arcade stick based on Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, which has been supervised by the Persona development team. 4Gamer gives us a closer look at the new stick.

According to the 4Gamer report, the arcade stick consists of high-quality parts made by Sanwa, the leading manufacturer of arcade parts, in a Viewlix layout, as shown above.

The dimensions are at 40.3 cm width (~19 inches) x 29.5 cm depth (~11.6 inches) x 12.4 cm height (~4.9 inches). If you’d like to get a better idea on the size, you can also check out the latest episode of Persona Stalker Club.

The stick will allow you to easily open up its housing and will also let you switch out the faceplate and buttons. The device will set you back 21,384 yen (about $211 USD) and will be released on August 28, 2014 in Japan, simultaneously along the release of the game.

Over $200. Well then. I see their competitive scene must be far more fervent than any other region.

    • Pedro Rosas

Not really, the self made arcade sticks are around $50 the cheapest. Official arcade sticks go around $100-$150 (if not mistaken, the BlazBlue one was around $170 made by Hori).

Not only this one is official, but is made by the best in the market, the price is justified.

    • That’s the going price right now for the TE2.

    • Afternoon Intergalactic

Not really. I know many who have paid that price and then some for a quality stick here in the States. Although $200 is on the higher end of the spectrum it is still a reasonable price, especially given that it supports the PS4.

Well this is expected, Mad catz stick is quite expensive but it’s gonna worth. Will pick up this when I could afford.

  • Oh man, I don’t think my wallet’s gonna like this.. With so many new fighting & RPG games coming out. Geez… :P

  • Guest

It looks cool. But I’ll pass. I’ll just buy the Hori Real Arcade Pro V4, and then put either a Kinnikuman or Persona skin on it.

  • Yeah… I think I’ll stick with the controller for now. I hope to change to stick player sooner or later but I just can’t afford $200 right now T_T

  • Welp, looks like I’ll be replacing my Street Fighter X Tekken TE stick pretty soon. That easy open hatch is quite possibly the best thing ever, since it probably has a square gate. (Which I would promptly replace)

    • Sato

I’ve been using that same stick, too! A-tier :P
I’ll also be buying this one, so I’m glad they’re using the parts and layout I prefer haha

  • Asuna Ilano

    Dat Suplex tho

  • Revorse

Is a stick worth getting if you’re terrible? Is it easier to learn on that as opposed to a regular PS3 controller?

    • Herok♞

Not really, I have a fight stick myself and I still prefer my controller to be honest its a very stick learning curve that has some advantages, but not enough if you just want to play casually

  • greeeed

Aegis: How dare you to flirt with my little errr… older Sister!

  • MSJ

I’ll probably end up getting one, Dat Aegis German suplex Tho.

  • -Misaki-

Huh? Never knew Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is coming to PS4 too, or is it just the Arcade Stick?

  • Skeptika Crediblus

MMmmHmmmm. Aigis can suplex ole Bender anytime….

  • Snorlaxation

    Do it, Aigis!
