Puzzle & Dragons Z Ships Over 1.5 Million Units

Puzzle & Dragons is big on smartphones and Nintendo 3DS. GungHo Online Entertainment’s handheld version reached 1.5 million units shipped as of July 17. This figure accounts for retail and digital copies of the 3DS game.

Puzzle & Dragons Z uses the same match three gameplay with some tweaks. Monsters are more animated on 3DS, dungeons have multiple routes, and there’s a Pokémon-ish storyline where you play as a Dragon Tamer fighting the Paradox Corporation.

Puzzle & Dragons Z came out on December 12, 2013 in Japan. A North American release was confirmed when we interviewed GungHo Online Entertainment’s CEO, but we haven’t heard details about its release.
