Bayonetta 2 Shares More Details On Its Online Multiplayer Mode

By Sato . July 24, 2014 . 4:29am

Nintendo previously announced that Bayonetta 2 will have an online multiplayer co-op mode, called “Tag Climax,” where players can team up together. Here’s a closer look how it works.

In addition to being able to being able to invite your friends in Tag Climax mode, you can also be matched up with random players online or play with a CPU partner. The stages vary from having you fight challenging bosses, to hordes of enemies, and you’ll get to pick what time of stage.

As previously reported, in online quick matches, you’ll be able to bet Halos (in-game currency), to challenge the other player on who can score higher points. You can then use the money to unlock new techniques, accessories, and alternate weapon variations.

Stages are shown on “Verse Cards,” and you’ll pretty much have access to all the stages of the cards you own. The stage difficulty can be adjusted, with the higher difficulty ones requiring more Halos, but will also return more if successfully cleared.

Tag Climax mode lets you pick your own character, along with weapons and accessories. Equipment and character skills can be acquired through the story mode, so the further you advance in the game, the better you’ll perform in Tag Climax.

Bayonetta 2 is slated for release this October for Wii U.

So glad I decided to get a WiiU. First Hyrule Warriors and then this game. My Fall quarter is set

  • Namuro

    That’s nice.

So looking forward to getting climax with everyone!

    …wait a minute…

    • HarakiriKami

I dont recommend you go to an orgy. They smell awful.

  • Armageddon

For a game like this, its a good start since hack and slash tend to be more single player oriented. Its nice to have a chance to play with friends :D in game like this.

Wow. Didn’t expect online multiplayer. Can’t wait!

    • HarakiriKami

      Local multiplayer too!

  • Anontastic

Everything I hear about this game just intensifies my hype…!

Is there a possibility this game will get a port (maybe to PC) a while after it’s release? I can’t stand the idea of not playing Bayonetta 2, but I’m not quite ready to buy a Wii U for it…

    • Codename: D.A.V.I.D.

No, it’s funded by Nintendo, they own the assets and rights to publish the game. You are free to ask them to port Zelda too, as Kamiya would say, but you would be wasting your time ( ̄ー ̄)ノ

    • PreyMantis

I’m curious, but why not? All the people I asked wanting a Wii U game on their preferred hardware never gave me a sensible answer beyond the graphics (which are just fine), lack of money (even though they have the more expensive system with monthly fees), and just the usual Nintendo hate, so I just want to know why you can’t get the cheapest current generation home console right now.

      • Namuro

“even though they have the more expensive system with monthly fees”

I like the way you think, good sir.

      • Anontastic

I don’t want to, and Bayonetta is the only Wii U game I want to play. It’s that simple.

        • PreyMantis

Not even Smash Bros., Fatal Frame, the new Zelda, Star Fox, Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 3, or even Xenoblade X?

          • Anontastic

Yes, not even those. Only perhaps Smash Bros, and that’s more of a party game for me that I’d be playing on a friend’s system, if at all.

Not wanting to buy a system isn’t defaultly an attack on nintendo or the Wii

          • HarakiriKami

Im sure you”ll find other stuff that perks your fancy when you pick up the console. You know, like the other character action game by Platinum on the very same system based off Tokusatsu.

Perhaps try some other games on the system that you didnt even know about. Maybe research it a bit by checking out its steadily expanding game library on wikipedia perhaps?

          • Namuro

You said “I can’t stand the idea of not playing Bayonetta 2”, but just how strongly do you feel about that?

I love “Monster Hunter” series so much, that I bought a PSP just to play Monster Hunter Freedom Unite in Japanese. Then I bought another 3DS, just to play Monster Hunter 4 specifically (and I haven’t bought any other Japanese games for it since).

I’m not boasting or anything here, but I’m just saying that if you really want something “badly” enough, you’ll get it no matter what. I’m not forcing you to get a Wii U at all, but if you won’t get the console just for Bayonetta, then you don’t really want it as much as you claimed to be.

          • Göran Isacson

Oh, that latter part. I feel you there man, but I’m afraid that any hopes are in vain. Nintendo owns too much of the game at this point. Think you’ll simply have to pass on this one.

  • MrJechgo

To me, “Tag Climax” sounds more like a spoecial attack where Bayonetta tags out and let Jeanne fight, and vice-versa. That would be in addition of having both witches team up for torture finishers and summons.

  • z_merquise

Man, the visuals looked so amazing. Multiplayer mode sounds really nice but I’m hoping there’s offline multiplayer too.

  • 永次

    I can’t wait for the September 20th, I CAN’T WAIT.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Why not add Nintendo characters for Online? :3

    • PreyMantis

Kirby in the game would just be overkill…

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

…….and think of the way he would look like in HD in Bayonetta style….Nightamre fuse much?

  • Aaron K Stone

Who wants to climax with me? Give me yours and I’ll give you mine… Friend code of course.

    • HarakiriKami

What friend code? Those dont exist anymore.

  • 60hz

    my body… is ready.

  • That sounds fun and rewarding. I definitely want to touch Bayonetta 2 ^_^

  • BalmungX

I want to play as Rodin, come on Platinum do it

  • HarakiriKami

Yay for local co-op with the gamepad and pro controller!!
