Destiny Of Spirits’ Crossover Characters Are Back For A Short Period

By Eugene . July 31, 2014 . 9:00am

Sony’s free-to-play Vita game Destiny of Spirits is celebrating its half-a-million download mark. As part of the festivities, those who missed out on special earlier collaboration spirits can get them again from July 31st till August 12th.

These are special crossover characters from Knack, Soul Sacrifice Delta, Gravity Rush and Doko Demo Issyo. Patapon limited summons are also back till the 20th of August.

Destiny of Spirits is a semi-geographical game. Depending on where you play from, different spirits will be available to summon. Those in Japan, for example, get oni demons.

As part of the celebration there will also be a special Friends in Need raid event, where you’ll be able to save Tsukuyomi in Japan, Iyatiku in the US and Verdandi in the EU. You will, however, have to go through these enemies below… Yes, one of them is holding what appears to be a box of fries.

During the celebration period, supporter rental costs are also 80% off and a 20% sale on Destiny Orbs. Finally, if you’re headed to Gamescom, Destiny of Spirits will also have a special geo-local spirit to capture. The Super Rare Ouranos spirit below.

This has been sitting on my Vita unplayed, but there’s one thing I’ve been wondering; is it possible to trade with people in other regions?

    • Noire Yoshida

Yes. Destiny of Spirits is a cross-regional game, so players from NA, EU, and ASIA regions can all friend and trade with one another.

    • Jadfish

that’s kind of the idea of regions in that game. If you can’t travel to other regions (like Shuhei Yoshida, the lovable scoundrel~) you can team up with other players and befriend them. This will let you borrow their powers from their region.

  • zferolie

I forgot this existed… I’ll have to download it

  • Noire Yoshida

That’s not a box of fries. It’s a box of popcorn.

  • They look nice, but I can’t help but wonder how much it’s gonna cost to actually get them lol

  • Yes you can trade with other regions, though the trading system could use some work. Ex. player offline must check their trades to see if offers were made and you have to chat via psn chat. So no in-game messaging from what I’ve seen. So it takes a while to finish a transaction sometimes.

I tried this back when it just came out and had some fun with it. After trying out Puzzles and Dragons, this game just looks so tame in comparison. The loading times, gameplay and amount of stuff you can do for free is way better in P&D (it’s also way easier to whip out on your smartphone)

    • SlickRoach

True, but after a while the difficulty spike in P&D gets pretty ridiculous to the point where you need real specific teams just to stand a chance of not being one-shotted. At rank 137 I can’t even complete a Master dungeon yet alone Legend, so it feels like a chore, especially seeing how I played everyday religiously for nearly a year.

I check once a day for events but now I play Brave Frontier. The puzzle matching can also amount to praying you get the right elements when your skills are on cooldown I feel. And BF and DoS are pretty simple combat wise.

      • Jadfish

oh I just stop when I get to the paywall. Not there yet in P&D since it only recently got released here in Europe (or well, in my country in europe)

        • SlickRoach

Ah, I see. Didn’t know you guys were just getting it over there. Yeah the paywall is real. 1 year and $300+ invested into this game and there are still a good chunk of dungeons that would wreck me within the first 1-3 turns. Worst part is they keep making more. And of course now that I’m not active I feel guilty about putting so much money into the game but the e-gambling struggle is real, learn from my mistakes friend…save yourself from the corruption of IAP.

          • Jadfish

hey you had fun with it right? I have played enough of it already to see that it is a really fun game. So look at it as an investment in a good time

300 dolla dolla billz yo is kind of a lot of money though… I might never spend that much on a F2P(ay) game

          • SlickRoach

I did have fun with it, I mean I usually spent $10-20 on it during payday if they had a gala event for a certain element I wanted, so it’s not like I blew it all at once.

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

It’s a decent time killer, but I do agree that the loading times for pretty much everything are atrocious~.

      • Jadfish

it kills time, that’s for sure

        • darke

And completely killed my enthusiasm. I don’t like free-to-grind games to start with, but I expect to be wasting my time actually ‘playing’ the game, not waiting 10 seconds per screen change. >.<

  • Kornelious

Sweet, I missed my chance last time so I should probally get these…..If I can be bothered to do so XD
