With people like Zaveid running wild, it looks like Sorey and his Heavenly Tribe buddies might be in for some trouble in Tales of Zestiria. Now, another two characters have been introduced, and it seems like they might spell even more trouble for our heroes.

Sergei Strelka:

The leader of the Laurence Empire’s knights, a hot-blooded man who is well respected by his subordinates because of his loyalty to the empire and devotion to the people. It is said that his battle capabilities go well beyond those of a normal person. To make matters worse, Sergei responds to the invisible attacks from those of the Heavenly Tribe.

Lucas:

A mercenary who is well-known even among the generals of the two big nations. His crew of hired soldiers is powerful enough to be on even terms in combat against the main troops of an army. He is currently employed by the Highland Kingdom.

Tales of Zestiria is in development for PlayStation 3.

If I’ve learned anything in my 23 years of absorbing media, it’s that people named Sergei tend to be dicks.

    • Serge

      Lucky me.

    • Yan Zhao

Or they can be like the dude from Chrono Cross, a silent protagonist :3

    • zuuum

And if he really ends up as a dick it’s because of his last name. It means female shooter/archer. The key word is FEMALE.
Something tells me I’m gonna enjoy this game a lot.

  • Freud_Hater

    LOL Sergei… Subtle XD

    • Magus KilIer

My mother knows a guy called Sergei Fuckin(not sure of the spelling)
He apparently changed his name to Sergio Fuckine

  • KingGunblader

I’m going to ASSUME that these two are your standard issue recurring boss fight characters, who always lose to you HILARIOUSLY!

  • Anontastic

    …The more I look…

I wish some more actual footage of this game would arise. I want to say it’s just my eyes playing tricks on me, but I feel as if this game has been downgraded graphically from Xillia…

    • Samsara09

lol.I have some eye medicine here. You will be just fine.

    • Christopher C

well since it’s more of an open world and the battles are supposed to be on-the-spot, I think that’s more demanding than Xillia.

      • Anontastic

No way! This is the same machine that ran inFAMOUS 2!

…Unless you mean its more demanding of the studio, in which case you’re probably right.

The fact that Sergei responds to “Invisible” attacks is trouble enough. Then add his other qualities in the mix lol. Sounds like Sergei is going to be someone I’m going to want to kill very much lol

  • ShinNeoGranzon

I am never going to get used to seeing Sorey after reading his name as Slay for so long. It would be hilarious if we defeat Lucas and his group alone. His group of who knows how many mercenaries can match an army? So can our group of 6-8 people. Since Sergei can respond to invisible attacks, are the Heavenly Tribes spells also invisible, or just their bodies, clothes, and weapons

    • Giordan

His name is pronounced “Suray” in Japanese, so…

  • Jesse
    • DyLaN

Well I guess we can put a lid on the “Sergei is evil” theory for now.

    • Ric Vazquez

      Awesome

    • Samsara09

      That is probably Earth Kamui.

  • Kornelious

So from what I’m reading The Heavenly Tribe can’t be seen in battle by normal people……Except Sergei who, while he can’t see them, can attack them, which just confuses me about there interactions in battle work….I can probably assume monsters can see them

So I’m thinking we have less human bosses this time around (Compared to Xillia who had more Human boss’s then monster ) except for the one’s we fight which will likely have some ability to see them……But that’s just my theory.

“I am Sergei Strelka…..The Sword of the Empire!”

  • Wiccan1109

Seems like Sergei might take the spot of the good looking, combat experienced, ‘older than the hero’ archetype shared by Jade, Raven, Malik, Gaius etc. I was a bit down that Zabeeda was an antagonist but if the signs indicating Sergei’s position as a protagonist are true, then i’m quite satisfied with how the party is now, good balance of ages and genders. =D

    • Samsara09

sorry to bust your dream party, but he is probably(90%) not playable.

      • Wiccan1109

xD I never said they were my dream party, rather that i was satisfied with the ratios if they dont add anyone else. im actually not so keen on any of the current reveals as characters, but that is a shame to hear. I get a bit tired of partys full of just kids in JRPGs and this will be the first time in a while they havent had someone older to balance out.

  • Neppygear

Sergei is hot as hell. I’m very grateful that Zestiria now has its designated bara.

  • Freud_Hater

I know people in the real word have that name and don’t turn out to be evil, but this is a video game. In the world of video games, people named Sergei turn out to be evil like 95% of the time.

It’s actually a really cool name, I think, but it’s pretty clear, just from his name, that this character will be evil.

  • Samsara09

lol,a guy in a english teaching school was fired because he tried to teach his students what HOMOphone means.Apparently, the director said it was advanced stuff, and reminded him of homosexual and homophobic…yeha right.

nowadays, there are many smartasses that think that everything that begins with homo or sounds like Gay is funny or reproachable

  • Samsara09

Siliconera’s assumptions, lol. This is what happens when you write something without regards for the intel, based on hunches.

well, you never know.Van from tales of abyss looked like a good guy,LOOKED.

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

I saw it as if he wasn’t a bad guy then why would they be attacking him in the first place kind of way.

  • Christopher C

although you have a point, spouting spoilers like that really isn’t a good thing to do. I have beaten abyss, but for others who may have not played it…

  • darke

Incorrect assumptions generate more comments from people
complaining about the incorrect assumptions, thus more page-views.

    More page-views means more ad-views.

    More ad-views means more profit.

Thus: It’s more profitable to make wrong assumptions then right ones.

… I think I’ve somehow become a little too cynical working as a web-developer for a marketing department at one time. >.>

  • Firekitty

No he didn’t. He was pretty obviously shady right from the get-go, to anyone who wasn’t Luke.

  • InfernoCommander

That game is nearly 10 years old, if someone hasn’t played it by now they have no excuse to cry about spoilers

  • Samsara09

let me spoil you further.Did you know Sephiroth is the final boss of final fantasy VII?

  • Samsara09

don’t worry. You just said some truths there.
