Sony Made A Freedom Wars Live Action Movie That Pokes Fun At Game Development

By Spencer . August 11, 2014 . 11:45pm

Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong is giving Freedom Wars a big push. They hired G.V.A. Creative to make a live action movie that draws on themes from Freedom Wars to promote the PlayStation Vita game.

While Freedom Wars was only released in Chinese, the movie has English subtitles. You won’t see any giant Abductors in the movie, but I’m willing to let that go because there’s a hilarious scene during the video game pitch meeting that’s totally relevant considering the number of Romance of the Three Kingdoms games on the market.

didn’t think about it til I saw this …but this game has a lot of cosplay potential.

    • tubers

Already saw CC and Celty “cosplayers” in the game :P

  • As if Sony was in a position to poke fun of anything related to gaming. When it comes to Vita, jokes write themselves #JusticeForVita.

in the case of new IP, sony is pretty good

  • Somerandomperson

They could have a better studio to handle live action…but I still liked some of the references made in the video.

  • nihongogamer

That was really well done, especially given the tongue in cheek approach to the Game Industry. I’d love to see more live-action shorts about Vita games!

I can’t really say that was a good way to portray the game. It sounded more like they were pushing for people to rebel against society and the government, which isn’t really the theme for the game.

    • Dystopiq

I think it’s more “Break the monotony of normal life”

  • Kai2591

Romance of The Three Kingdoms + Korean Drama.

  • Martian Wong

I am surprise that this is in my native language~~

  • Dystopiq

Had she not been wearing headphones she would have heard that other lady coming.

  • BlackUnloaded

    Says October 28th on Amazon…

  • Anders

I don’t think China would have approved this if it was shown in TV.
