Capcom announced a project to bring some of their fighting game classics back to Japanese arcades. New arcade machines with Hyper Street Fighter II, Darkstalkers 3, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, and Street Fighter Alpha 3 are in development.

These reissued machines will use Taito’s NESiCAxLive to save player data like a win/loss record and points for online rankings. Capcom will also utilize widescreen monitors that show a character’s special attacks in the borders. A release date for all four arcade machines have not been announced.

Just when i start to get back in fighters, this happens :) yes! good news

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Capcom you gotta do JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The Part 3 anime is airing right now *__*

edit: licensing fees and whatnot are probably not worth the hurdle/effort.
I wonder if they will do this with any other games.

  • Tenabrus

I’m waiting for the inevitable darkstalker fan comments.

  • Shippoyasha

I’d love to see Street Fighter Alpha 3 come back and Daigo get back to that game. I loved seeing that around in arcades. Awesome music too.

    • Matty

I agree, A3 and Rival Schools are like my two favorite Capcom fighters

      • Death Metal

It seems that Capcom does every effort to ignore Rival Schools, no matter how much old fans have been citing and talking about how they like the series. Very weird.

        • Shippoyasha

Shame, considering just how funny and cool/cute the series is. Nothing quite like it out there.

      Time to move to Japan

I think this post is kind of misleading. Nesica is like a MAME cabinet in Japanese arcades with many different games on it. The cabinets can download the “ROMs” to their hard drive without having to change the physical cabinet. This is probably for people who want to play these games online when nobody is playing the real cab in the arcade. All of these games (especially 3rd Strike) can be found in most larger Japanese arcades.

Nesica cabinets don’t actually have online play, as far as I could tell. And if they did, I never saw once anyone utilizing it.

Oops, so I guess the “online” component is just for rankings? Not sure why Cap decided to do this, doesn’t seem like a cheap project.

  • Matty

Is it even possible to run a Nesica x Live cabinet outside Japan?

  • Guest

Capcom not being a piece of crap? WOW.

    • Death Metal

      Well, more or less.

  • Interesting. Might give my local arcade a call and see if they are willing to import one of those roms or machines from Capcom :)

  • Dizzy Gear

alright, time to go to japan

  • Shane Guidaboni

I want that 3rd Strike cab.

  • Freakmasta

Those kiddies need to learn the roots.
