Enjoy A Virtual Hatsune Miku Concert Nearly Anywhere With This Box

By Eugene . August 25, 2014 . 3:30pm

The next set of Hako Vision boxes have been revealed, and they’ll feature virtual idol Hatsune Miku. (Thanks, Famitsu)

Hako Vision is a series of what appear to be just boxes from Japan. When opened up and assembled, though, they turn into a live “3D” rendering by using the power of your smartphone, a quick video program and some smart eye tricks. The series previously also took on the Gundam franchise.

Each box will showcase one of four different songs, and there are also two different bromide cards to collect. There’s also a pamphlet.

If you’re interested, the Hatsune Miku Hako Vision boxes go on sale from the 19th of September.

Must buy… oh wait I need a smart phone first, well time to sell my kidney.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Slightly disappointed, I was hoping it was a Domino’s pizza box :(

    Nonetheless, pretty neat!

  • DudeJericho

This looks pretty cool, but I ain’t got no smartphone, oh well.

  • PreyMantis

That’s cool and all, but I think I’ll just wait for the 3DS game and have the 3D turned on.

  • Brimfyre

Where does one go about obtaining one of these in America?

  • That’s a nice concept and it has Miku to boot. What else do you want :D

    • Morningstar

A confirmation on whether it’s going to the west or not?

      • Prolly have to import. But hey, keep your fingers crossed for a Western release ;)

    • Ni ~Algidus~

      A Luka version

  • That’s very similar to the Pepper’s Ghost trick…. it’s basically just a mini version of it. Very interesting idea for a toy :)

Holograms on the cheap. I can dig that :)

Here’s a vid that actually shows the thing in action, for anyone who wants to see it:

  • Spider-Man

I will enjoy this for other reasons.

  • Dkmariolink

    Too many steps. Pass.

    • SlickRoach

With an attitude like that I don’t think you’re even worthy of possessing a portable waifu, much less one of such a magnitude as Miku. Have fun being tied down to cords and wires whenever you need a daily dose of kawaii…

      • otakumike

I prefer the cold hard touch of my plastic figurines anyway!

      • Dkmariolink

        HAHAHA :D

  • I’ve seen these in convenience stores already, actually. I was wondering what they were exactly…

Don’t have a smart phone, so I guess I’ll have to pass on this one. =P

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

Cool, a Miku in a box!

  • antithesis

I hope the one I’ve order off of AmiAmi will include the same bonuses.

  • Mircea Purdea

I got them already from AmiAmi, and was rather disappointed. The projection is actually on the backplate, so there’s no noticeable “hologram” effect – you’re better off just watching the vids on your phone.

    • AndyError

I feel like it’s gotta be more than just like watching videos on your phone, otherwise this wouldn’t have gotten a second release with Hatsune Miku… But I wouldn’t know…

      • Mircea Purdea

The thing to keep in mind is that this is a relatively cheap (literally) gimmick which fans of Miku (like myself) will buy regardless of its actual worth.

        • AndyError

How much do they charge for this toy?

          • Mircea Purdea

It’s about $8 for the set.

  • Aristides

    This looks pretty awesome :3
